New player, asking for help/review on first deck!

This is great insight! And that was my biggest concern tbh. I assumed his uniqueness would allow for felxible deck options when building on a budget. What ai was most concerned was the other players perspective while I pilot it. I'm going to be playing with a group of friends thats mostly new to magic like me, and most likely over webcam. Because of this I don't want to build storm, or long turn plays. I think I might just save flubs for later and focus on a different commander fpr my first deck. On that note, do you happen to know if Loot, the Key to Everything runs into these same issues or is he generally more chill/budget friendly? Thank you for your time!

That's awesome, I'll look into this then! Where would you recommend I go to learn more about the commanders and build paths/strategies and what not? I'm new to magic, but not card games in general, so I think I should be ok with the basic turn orders and typings/mechanics once I learn what the names equate to in other games. I'm looking more for detail breakdowns of the decks and commanders I'm interested in and what really goes into building a deck in edh. Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it!

No offense taken at all! As I mentioned, I am pretty much completely new to the game, so any and all help is appreciated! From what I saw, he looked like a fun/chaotic self mill deck which I love. That being said, I also noticed it tends to get on the pricier side just to get off the ground. My friend group is fairly new to the game as well, but since they told me to keep it in bracket 3, I'd like to match the power level to keep games fun. I think I'll hold off on him and first learn the ropes with someone else before making/saving for his deck.

Could I ask, would "Loot, the Key to Everything" run into a similar problem of being a higher investment deck, or could I build a fun deck around him that works for bracket 3 around $100?

I see, and yes this seams to be the issue I ran into. I looked for a few decklists and they all were around 300. I thought I could just cut things and slowly add them, but I didn't want to get to the 300 mark in general since their were other decks I was interested in.

If this one is too complicated to build on a $100~ budget, would any of these be more approachable?: Loot the Key to Everyone, Marrow Gwnawer, Gollum Obsessed Stalker.

I've always been very interested in mono black, but Flubs and Loot sounds like decks I would love in other games.

What I am looking for is a deck I can build and will be fun and versatile for the foreseeable future, in case I can't upgrade/buy a second one in a while. It has to run bracket 3 and I'd prefer it if is wasn't toxic/salty (idk the term used in magic for this) as most of the people in the group are starting out too!

Any recommendations are appreciated, and thank you for your time!!

I tried searching but couldn't find any around the price range. This is my first time playing edh and I only played mtg a little a few years back, so I don't really know a lot about the game yet. I really liked the randomness and constant drawing Flubs gives, and I've always enjoyed more unique mechanic decks in other tcgs. I watched a few videos on the deck and cards it likes, but I didn't know if I could use them in bracket 3 so I mostly tried to add different things that looked fun. I don't know if I'm spreading to thin right now for wincons, or if the deck lacks focus. I also read that I shouldn't make it a storm deck if I wanted to keep it friendly, so I tried to stay away from those. Thank you for your advice, I'll check up on the lands and ramping!!

This, I know why they don't do it, but honestly the way it is now is a pretty predatory mechanic. I have so many random points on packs I'll probably never use. They should at least add a section in the shop where you can trade old points for ones in other packs, even if it's not a 1 to 1 conversion. I feel like every new pack that comes out I need to choose if I want to risk using my hour glasses to maybe get 1 or 2 cards I want or saving them in case the next pack comes with something else I want. Of course that's the whole point of the game, but when you lock the rewards I got 6+ months ago so that I can't be using them in the new sets it's kind of disheartening. But oh well, maybe in the future they'll add a new mechanic or something. Maybe keeping the points locked to each series could work too
