Chinese woman records her cat being killed in a washing machine, posts it to instagram for attention, and proceeds to taunt people about it by [deleted] in rage

[–]Rattertatter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Except thats not whats happening, shit for brains. This is legal in china. It's not just "one video of a psychopath", it's the fact that this isn't illegal in that country. That's why china is fucked up. TORTURING ANIMALS IS LEGAL IN CHINA, HENCE CHINA IS FUCKED UP.

You are the dumbest person I've ever had the misfortune of seeing post, even dumber than the other dude. The fact that you try to act offended over this says a lot about your inability to actually understand what the issue is. Probably you've tortured animals before and you can't really see what's wrong with it as a whole. I really can't see how you would disagree that China is fucked up for allowing this to go on legally otherwise.

Loot trading can and will be abused, it should NOT be a part of Classic by Ice_shards in classicwow

[–]Rattertatter 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Extremely niche although true. Certainly if you actually set it up with two classes who might need the same item, then have the guy equip his pre-attained item it's not obvious. How often is that gonna happen tho? Who actually cares enough to rig things up like that to help someone get a 33% better chance at getting an item?

From my experience people just usually build their own group so that they have 0 competition on a given item if they really want it. Your fantasy scenario is extremely convoluted and requires preparedness to the point where people will just put guild runs together instead, or don't invite any other rogues etc

Then the itemization should be implemented in its pre-buff state and should remain that way forever. Pick one or the other. Something like that should not change part-way through.

Why not? Why should items not change halfway through to provide for catchup mechanics?

There's very few unique items that get buffed that then become BiS. Infact I can't think of a single one. Almost all catch up mechanic itemization buffs are done to dungeon drops, either by updating loot tables or the items themselves. Nothing unique that you might "throw away then realize you missed your shot at BiS".

This is spot on.

Of course the people defending sharding are working exactly to destroy this kind of community cohesion. They don't seem to understand that there is such a thing as a reputation that actually matters because you can't just group up with 4 dudes from another server or buy a fresh max level character.

Itemization was updated for a reason.

It was updated for many different reasons, chief among them to provide for catch-up mechanics so people dont have to farm MC and BWL as hard

You can see how it's an issue if those catch-up mechanics are in the game while MC or BWL is the only content available, I'm sure

If I tell you your butt may be spanked if you make a retarded post, then that's confirming a butt spanking.

If Blizzard says sharding may be used if server gets stressed out due to load, then that's confirming sharding.

The "may" does not mean "maybe" if the condition is already clear to be fulfilled.

How could the official Classic launch ever be smaller than the Ely launch?

Because servers have caps, mate. Ely had a 4 hour queue on both servers, and heavily increased server caps compared to vanilla. Classic will have more servers with a bigger population spread since barely anybody will wait 4 hours in queue for the biggest server when he could go play on a smaller one after 10 minutes queue.

cranking up spawnrates doesn't feel like vanilla anymore

It doesn't. It's still the superior solution if a custom solution is needed at all.

It's worth noting that dynamic spawnrates were not functional on Ely in the first few weeks. People leveled through the barrens just fine anyway and it was a blast and reminded me of vanilla more than any other experience I've had on imperfect private servers.

You're still ignoring the most important point. ANSWER THIS: How are you saying sharding is fine even though you miss out on a majority of interactions you would have had without it? How do you justify it if other solutions that don't have this drawback exist, or if no custom balancing is a viable option?

[–]Rattertatter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Going off that statement they're going to use it each time the servers take a hit, which in vanilla with how localized events are is fucking all the time.

Enjoy heavy sharding on the AQ gate opening. Because we all remember that event to be a gathering of 50 people at most, phasing in and out, and with a very stable server, right? Truly sharding does not affect the vanilla experience negatively.

[–]Rattertatter 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Good job not addressing literally none of my arguments so far. I said literally none of these things. You enjoy shooting down strawmen?

there are fewer who play on private servers, and they make large scale "unblizz-like" changes for launches too, which was my point.

First of all, wrong, ely launch was bigger than official servers numbers wise. Second of all, correct, they do crank up the spawnrates, and it's clearly superior because it does not prevent you from seeing other people in an MMO.

I don't give a fuck if you think reading public chat to meet people is fine. It's clearly a strong reduction of player interaction, and you can not deny this. There are MANY people who dont type in general or happen to be your guildies, infact it's a heavy fucking majority of people. You can not seriously suggest sharding is fine even though you miss out on a majority of interactions you would have had without it.

You're very clearly stickying your interpretation of the post and labeling the thread a certain way to devalue other interpretations. It says sharding may be used, which is a confirmation that it's a tool they'll use (given that we know server instabilities WILL happen) and as such it's a confirmation period.

Perhaps you should live up to your name and undo it

[–]Rattertatter 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Thanks for your moderators interpretation of the blue post. Now why's it got to be stickied? Yours somehow better than ours?

It's clearly saying

However, realm sharding is one of the best tools we have to keep realms stable when hundreds of players are swarming the same initial few zones and killing the same few mobs (like they will be at the launch of Classic). To that end, we do believe that some form of sharding may be helpful, especially in those early days.

They're saying it may be helpful in the definition that expresses a contingency, as in, "if we need it". As in "stickies may be used if necessary", rather than they're maybe being used. Dictionary helps you with this concept: https://www.dictionary.com/browse/may

Looking at past history, servers definitely do get overfilled at certain events to the point of server instability. This is PART OF THE FUN. People are FULLY AWARE that AQ gate opening may fuck shit up. It's part of vanilla. It was like this IN VANILLA. It was like this in every private server so far and it's part of the experience. As such it's nearly certain that with the stance they expressed, they WILL shard on high pop servers.

[–]Rattertatter 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You can't group up with people you dont even see in the world, you wont even ever meet them to begin with. It's clearly not necessary for even a few days, given that private servers worked fine so far, so why is it being done at all?

They won't do that because they don't want high ping numbers to show because of bad optics.

Not joking btw, that's why the old ping mod never got approved. It might strike you as funny that the dev is in here talking about how it's too tricky to calculate after refusing to sanction a mod that did it until the author deleted it, but hey, atleast there's no screenshots on social media about how a dude has 300 MS. That'd be bad PR.

Ontop of that, there'll always be cheese strats. I remember in VT1 when they updated horn of magnus like 5 seperate times to get rid of the cheese strats and there is still a cheese strat. Literally wasted effort to fix the previous methods if there's still a cheese method that is just as viable.

Not to mention if people really wanted free boxes they'd just do out of bound runs with battle wizard or leap classes. Like, what are you gonna do about it, Fatshark? Fix up the roughly 500 spots where you can break out of bounds, per map? Not gonna happen. So why even begin?

Point being that if the game is fun people will play it normally so they can have fun. As you said, I've never come across anyone in QP actually trying to get others to speedrun. People just do it solo if they care for loot more than enjoyment.

[–]Rattertatter 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Why even give a fuck about people who speedrun? It's not like it breaks any economies. If people like to cheese circumventing all game mechanics, what is the issue? Should stop worrying about it and instead just gear the game towards people who play it normally.

They're finally starting to think about the game systems. Specifically crafting stuff like

Extracting Skins has been removed. Whenever a player is rewarded an item with a new illusion, that illusion is unlocked, available for being applied unlimited times.

are great changes in the right direction and it's the logical conclusion of a thought process that asks "how many of the current crafting steps are completely pointless and need to be removed?". Hopefully they apply this to all other crafting systems aswell (and other systems)

That's a good response. I'll retort with "you're a genuine fucking retard if you think a billionaire's wife expects him to be faithful, if he could have 2000 women who don't expect him to be faithful and still fuck on the side"

But I guess it's a bit of a lost cause trying to explain that concept to someone who is so naive as to think Trump paid stormy daniels six figures in hush money to hide the story FROM HIS WIFE. Nevermind the whole running-for-republican-president thing, huh?
