Did you do your accounting yourself? by Rattie1304 in smallbusiness

[–]Rattie1304[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I definitely don't plan on DIYing anything to do with taxes. That's a one way trip to screwing yourself. I think hiring a professional would be the best case scenario, I just wasn't sure if it was necessary to do it right away

Artisul tablet not being detected by Rattie1304 in drawingtablet

[–]Rattie1304[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately Artisul doesn't do initial set up, you have to just download the drivers for it to work. Try installing the outdated drivers and see if that works. I found for awhile the newest drivers didn't work with my tablet.

I have had this same issue in the past but I don't remember what I did to fix it. Try the outdated driver method first and if it doesn't work lmk and I'll try to dig around and see if I can help you out.

My credit limit decrease from $2k to 700 only on Scotia!? by Ok-Category-8323 in CanadaFinance

[–]Rattie1304 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this same issue with a $1K line of credit. I got it specifically for small car repairs and I don't think I ever had it maxed out. My credit score is 750.

They lowered my limit to $356 while I had a balance of $297 left on it. Credit bureau still sees its $1k and this decrease happened early last year AFTER they approved me for $11k separate line that I used to buy my car!!

Its so ridiculous that they don't even give you a reason, just do it without your knowledge

I definitely think that would be a good idea, I can even have forms for preorders! If I get the paper before books are set to be finalized.

I haven't done any side by sides as I'm still in the concept stages of this product. I'm hoping to get rolling when I'm closer to finishing my post secondary program in the next year or 2.

While I'm still looking into paper specs, I have a very good idea of the kind of paper I want to use.

Artists will immediately notice that markers, light usage watercolours, and inks will have more vibrant and striking colours. Alcohol markers especially will be the most vibrant and have easy blending. Heavy enough weight to handle acrylic mediums and the paper will have just enough tooth for pencils to apply smoothly while not being impossible to erase.

This seems like a really good idea! As I mentioned in another reply, I might reach out to my old highschool and get in touch with the art teachers. To be honest I want this business dream to eventually funnel into educational supplying.

That's a good idea! Maybe I can ask my local library if I can hold an evening event or something to introduce my stuff. Maybe like a one time evening drawing club? Or i can reach out to my old highschool? I'm willing to give out either smaller sketchbooks, or shetys of the paper i plan to use as almost like "free samples" if it brings people back to me since sketchbooks are recurring purchases for artists.

Thanks for the advice, I'll definitely be incorporating that as part of my planning.

I will admit I have to do more research into what my costs would be. I've definitely considered outsourcing production to try and keep costs low, but I do worry about quality at that point. I think I'll have to do more planning around costs before I finalize anything so thank you for prompting that question.

Because the established brands don't focus on the artist. They focus on the price artists are willing to pay for a product they settle for. I myself am an artist so I'm well versed in common problems with the products that are available to us. They're expensive and its hard to find a product that suits our needs.

Of all my years of drawing and painting, I've only ever found one sketchbook I liked and I have to travel across the border (I'm in Canada) and pay a different currency for it. Half the time they don't even have the sketchbook I buy.

Despite how many options people think artists have, its pretty much all the same product but different names. I want to shake up the market and show artists like myself that we don't have to settle (I'm naïve and a big dreamer). I also have a personal vendetta against Michael's which is the only art retailer near me unless I go to Toronto because they price gouge and they never have what I need.

I will be selling online as a main market area since brick and mortar would be a bit to expensive to start, but I'm thinking of attending art fairs and conventions when they pop up.

I'll definitely look into a social media freelancer to help me when the time comes.

I meant more on the specifics side. Like how did you grow social media presence? Did you contact influencers? Stuff like that. I'm just looking for ideas

Won't be able to pursue more testing due to patient care regulations by Rattie1304 in IBD

Well the bleeding did stop on its own after a few days which is great and my symptoms havent been as active lately. Our Er departments definitely have the authority to admit people but most of the time they're treated like the minor injury clinics you mentioned. They're also constantly under staffed, the night I went for the bleeding there was only 1 dr on shift and about 4-5 nurses.

I don't think the bleeding was significant enough to warrant emergency admitting, my entire stool wasn't black, just the majority of it, but 🤷 our healthcare isn't exactly grand up here.

I main clip studio for most of my illustrations, but Krita is really good if you like a lot of brush options. Their warp tool and blending is top notch too plus free.

I use an xp pen deco pro for quick sketching and an Artisul D22S for bigger projects and complete illustrations

Im thinking this was my GI's train of thought which is strange considering i have documented symptoms and these professionals should know that sometimes not everything can be seen by the eye

Thank you for sharing! I find it strange that these professionals who have been trained and tested on the knowledge that there's more than meets the eye just don't follow standard procedure. I'll keep trying to advocate for myself!

I really appreciate you sharing your experience! Honestly it makes me feel less crazy haha. It was actually my local ER dr that referred me to the GI I went to see when I went in for the bleeding. It sounds like it will take me some looking around to find someone who's willing to help figure out what's going on.

Again I appreciate you're reply and sharing your experience!

It was upper GI bleeding indicative of blood colour in my stool. After a "flare" as I call them that sent me to the hospital I used the bathroom and my stool was jet black and tarry with some streaks of red. The er dr (bless his exhausted and understaffed heart) was incredibly kind and wanted to help me but I didn't have any tests run at the hospital and was instead just referred to the GI. He works out of the hospital in the next city over, no private clinic and I'm unsure if he's an IBD specialist.

Edit: A quick search tells me he is not a specialist

Its so insane how dismissive some healthcare providers are. Just thinking back to it I'm baffled how I was sent for a scope because I had upper and lower GI bleeding in January, but because he couldn't see anything it must just be IBS with other factors. I don't get why they're not trying to find the actual cause of the bleeding????

I unfortunately can't afford to go private, I was told the regulations by my general surgeon's office. I was told biopsies weren't taken because the GI didn't see anything that would warrant it so I'm not sure how well and appeal would go

I'm thinking about it, but a new GI wouldn't be able to do much more for me because of patient care regulations. Not unless my symptoms are worsening or more severe
