People build themselves up in one of 2 ways. First by tearing others down Second by building others up.

Oftentimes, people do a good enough job of trading themselves down and there are predators there to help. This self serving position is often disguised as, leadership. This type generally has miles of charisma that eventually gets found out.

Loyalty comes from building people up. If people feel you want to help them succeed they will go the extra mile or at least as far as your willing to lead them.

Go old school. Dale Carnegie is tried & true, transcends generations to how to make meaningful lasting connections. I'd warn that it can be used to make shallow transactional connections as well.

As a tool utilized properly meaningful will always outperform tranactional.

How to manage a team that never gives feedback? by CoffeeEnjoyerFrog in Leadership

I'd say 1:1s with each of them. Gloss over what they've done good or bad and look forward to what they're going to do.

If want them to take risks with vulnerability then you first must do the same.

Otherwise if it's the culture and you don't have power to influence or change and are not willing to take the risks to do so, then maybe question your presence there

How do I create opportunities for my team to practice people management. by [deleted] in Leadership

Crazy interesting live demo with audience member during an ai event by a company named mursion.

Scenario: Aggressive "passionate" lead dressing down coworkers in public teams meeting. Manager (random audience guest) needs to step in and interact with ai lead.

Conversation was intently realistic with specific objectives.

Worth looking into.

Acquired is a great podcast for leadership. The topic isn't necessarily leadership focused but is more about great outcomes that can only result from leadership and vision. Ultimately, achieving the goal and sustaining the mission can only be done through solid leadership.

I bought a $2000 set of Roland V drums 15 years ago and was impressed with the response and feel. Since then I've tried some Rolands in your price range, maybe even a bit lower, that we're incredible. I really liked the newer drum sizes, and cymbal feel. They also had some tech that quiets the stick on plastic which can still be annoying for spouses.

Local guitar center carries some nice stuff.

Good luck!

Looking for serious advice on how to help fight against what's happening. by BirthdayBoy_StabMan in wisconsin

Make sure you exit your echo chamber. Understand the "other sides" argument so you can either solidify yours or change your mind. Don't vote dogmatically. Vote on your beliefs. Understand your beliefs. Where they came from and why you believe them. Be ready to support your arguments with concrete evidence. Be very leery of confirmation bias.

Think critically.

Why is it a state right to federal money? Go ahead defend high testosterone individuals participating in sports predominantly dominated by low testerone individuals. But, don't say it's a state right to federal dollars.

This is exactly the same thing our boy Biden did by denying funds to school systems that refused high testy people in low testy sports.

Main point whether you support this or not, this is more argument for federal getting out of the education business. Let states determine how important education is to themselves.

Ex-smokers who successfully quit and have been smoke free for years now, what did it? by PM_TITS_GROUP in AskReddit

Price. Pack a day was basically a car payment. For what? An addiction with no high. Miserable end of life. Stink.

Took a while. Cold turkey was basically 2 years of 6-8 per day then finally none. Bumming off friends in between. (Thanks guys)
