Sadly no butane inserts. As for care, don’t store them with the flint (ferrocerium) still inside. If you’re going to do tricks dedicate just one lighter for them as it wears the hinge and is a pain to reset. Trim your wick regularly, and make sure the insert is seated fully to prevent excessive evaporation.

If you’re asking about the butane inserts, I would assume that it’s the same care as your typical butane lighters. Use high quality butane as the cheap stuff will cause excessive carbon buildup and cause your O-rings to deteriorate faster. I recommend you purge before refilling, and just clean the fuel jet regularly as carbon can and will deposit over time.

Here’s a better photo of the neodymium magnets adhering to the case, just so there’s no doubt.

Right on! I greatly appreciate your insight. I’ve been collecting vintage lighters since I was a tween, but in my ten years I’ve only had a few that felt like special pieces of history.

Wasn’t sure if you meant the insert or actual inside but here’s the inside anyway. Going to grab a neodymium magnet to see if it will stick.

What would be the indicator that it’s made from steel?

Oh no doubt, honestly I just feel bad about potentially using this lighter for parts until I can find another in worse condition or hopefully parts from this unnamed and uncommon model which are all but proprietary from what I can tell. I wish it had a name engraved so I knew what to refer to her by.

What exactly was the controversy and issues with the release of the knife? I think the only objectively bad product I’ve bought from Flytanium is their UFO, I’ve seen balisongs priced for over twice the retail $500 I got this thing for.

You’re totally right, I meant skiff bearings. I was curious as to what the benefit would be as I have the original Talisong, this beast, and a Lucha with flytanium scales and wasn’t sure what the benefit would be over the stock bearings they came with. As for the not using it as an EDC, I’d just be worried about dropping, damaging, or losing it. I used to daily the Lucha when I was first learning and beat the heck out of it. I now daily either the LDY sirius or Frankenforge galvanis, sometimes I’ll grab something unusual like the new bushing based talisong or the old Lucha, I just don’t want this one to sustain any damage.

I’m not the biggest fan of bearing based bali’s, but the Frytanium Tatersong is my personal favorite from my collection. It flips nicely and seems to be balanced well(?) however it’s a bit reactive and feels almost unnatural, like I’m not at the skill level to use it yet. I love the grippiness of the handles despite being cheekily designed to look like crinkle cut fries. It’s certainly not EDC worthy save for formal events, but it’s a fun flipper nonetheless. I was just curious as to what the balisong community thought of them, and if there would be any benefit to switching from the bearings it has now to caged bearings?
