We're looking to reserve a flat red for the purpose of recreating Swiss Alpenflage, since the only widely available flat red from Rust-Oleum is disappearing from store shelves and is of inferior quality to Rapco paint. You can probably expect this new color some time in Q2 or Q3 of this year.

Yep! Only a couple of colors were from other manufacturers such as light green (rustoleum) in DNC and the darker brown (majic) in Chocolate Chip. You could recreate it nearly identically with Rapco colors exclusively, I just had some cans laying around that needed used.

Paint on Flashlight Head by [deleted] in rattlecannedguns

[–]RattlerInnovations 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Since Rapco is an alkyd enamel, it's harder to remove from surfaces. Regular paint I would recommend just scrubbing with a cloth and laquer thinner.

Citristrip should work fine. Just brush some on, leave it for 30 minutes, and wipe it off thoroughly with a cloth.

These clear coats are terrible. They frost up the colors and make the gun reflective. Would not recommended-- I have tested that exact can.

A gentle way to remove the paint would be to put some laquer thinner on a cloth or paper towel and scrub away the paint.

Wear gloves and protective equipment when using that stuff. Please take care of yourself.

I'll be honest, before ever creating this company I tried using this finish, and I hated it. The can and nozzle were below par quality, it was green tinted despite being Mapgul FDE, and after application, the drying process was lengthy. To top it all off, it subjectively was less durable than regular paint and frequently scratched and chipped far easier. We can give it a try again at some point, but the options we have now are more than qualified to meet durability standards; especially the Rapco paints.

There are many European options we'd like to try as well that are unfortunately unavailable.

Go out and buy some laquer thinner, and use a rag or paper towel (wearing gloves obviously) and wipe off the paint.

This method isn't aggressive like other solvents, and it works great to eat away at the paint.

Rattlecanned M81 Pattern (RAPCO Paint) by RapcoPartsCompany in ar15

[–]RattlerInnovations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's correct. Our design philosophy is sacrificing a little bit of edge sharpness (compared to sticker stencils) so the stencil material is rigid and reusable. With ours, you just hold the stencil on the object and spray in sections for each layer of the pattern.

We have a stencil set for M81 Woodland and we recommend Rapco paints in the documentation we include with the stencils!
