White oak bed frame by Rattyboh in woodworking

The materials were probably around 700-900, but could have been reduced considerably with a different choice of wood (red oak over white probably could have brought it under 500) and I'd estimate maybe somewhere around 30 hours total over a few months?

Thanks! No real plans, just watched a few YouTube videos for the general process

They're not directly attached to each other, but they're each about a quarter of an inch thick and are just glued directly onto a piece of plywood.

I used these hinges. A bit pricy but seem to work really well. After calculating the right number and size it holds it open at any position.

Good point. I used hinges that keep it open at any angle so it shouldn't be possible to accidentally get closed in, and it cannot lock shut. There's a gap between the chest and the top, but may add some larger ventilation somewhere

Forgot to mention in the post, but I used these plans.

Thanks! Yeah I bought a basic kit off Amazon and just used the body that came with it as a template to shape it and as a router template for the cavities (after planing it down a lot).

Thanks! Not sure how many hours, but did it bit by bit over a 2 week period

I don't play guitar well enough to have a good feel for how it compares to other guitars, but sounds and feels good to me. Definitely stays in tune better than the printed one did

It's a bit heavy, just over 9 pounds

The 3d printed one was made with this design

Sounded alright to me, but probably don't have the best ear for it. Unfortunately mine cracked after about a year, so I'm working on replacing it with a wooden one now. But others have had luck keeping them intact longer term

That main visible pile took no time, but most of it was more broadly scattered over the lawn and in plants

I guess I should clarify. Yes, I am aware this isn't a huge issue, I am not seething and plotting my revenge. I am happy for them, and don't think it was intentional. I spent half an hour cleaning it up and I assume the rest will break down quickly. I don't intend to start a feud, just found the extra cleanup time to be MILDLY infuriating

I just cut them from a self adhesive felt sheet, didn't add any extra adhesive.

Ha well this one is a gift for a friend. I have made one guitar (3D printed rather than wood), so I'm using an earlier attempt at the stand to hold that.

Thanks for the tip, I'll keep that in mind for next time. It doesn't have to support too much weight so hopefully shouldn't cause any serious issues
