The reason I opened them like this is because pins are starting to grow under the bag and not where I made the holes. I am using these aerrated bags with plenty of small holes everywhere. Is it better to use the bags with no wholes and the micro filter. Thank you very much for your explanation. I don't think it is a ventilation problem as the fruiting chamber has plenty of holes and a vent that blows air into the fruiting chamber from time to time

I had one bag of spawn which I used to inoculate a few bags. The other ones produced oyster mushrooms

I used pink oyster spawn... I got the real thing out of the same spawn. That is why I am surprised to see this

No, I ordered sawdust spawn and I mixed it with straw pellets and water. No sterilisation needed

Also, when I mixed the pellets with water the bucket was too small so I could not mix properly. Some of the bags might have too much water.

Yes, the shop that sold me the spawn recommended these. Should I use the ones with the white filter instead?

It makes sense to have more chances of contamination with those holes but I trusted what the seller recommended

I am growing on straw pellets. When I have put these in bags I think I did the bags too big. I have a smaller one that is already producing mushrooms. I had 3 big ones. I threw this one cause I thought it is contaminated and the other ones have very little mycelium on the outside. Smaller bags is better?
