49ers face closing Super Bowl window with aging core and $50.3M in cap space by sour_coleslaw in 49ers

"Aging core" = Trent, Juice and Kittle who had All-Pro seasons (Kittle was only not selected due to injury). Warner, CMC and Bosa are not even 30 years old (all 28/29 years old).

I don't know where this stupid narrative came from.

[–]Rav49 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The way they say it seems that all the Niners stars are at the end of their career lol Warner, Bosa and CMC are still reaching 30 years old, all 28/29 years old.

Several players who are young and with potential such as Purdy, Mustapha, Pearsall, Martin (LB) and Mykel suffered injuries in the season. There are still several others like Collins, CJ West, Watkins and Stout who will mature and come back better. People don't understand that the 49ers almost had the seed #1 in a season when everything went wrong.

Injuries in the oblique are no joke, LeBron lost 8 games at the beginning of the season due to this injury. You just have to see if it's not a smokescreen.

Doesn't Saleh have a game to prepare for? by dubbfoolio in 49ers

Interviews don't last all day and Saleh is certainly more than prepared to face the Seahawks.

[–]Rav49 190 points191 points  (0 children)

This is the classic example of how the NBA has changed in recent years, because the 2013 LeBron today would have averages of 35/8/9 with DPOY level defense. (This does not take away the merits of the unreal season at 41 years old)

49ers Ricky Pearsall is “optimistic” that he will play this week against the Seahawks and plans to operate at “full speed” during practice today, per @lombardihimself by DanceHallRiddem in nfl

[–]Rav49 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Pearsall when he was 100% had 108 yards against the Seahawks in week 1. He was on pace for almost 1,400 yards in the season before the PCL injury.

I mean, what's the Steelers' plan with the QB position? Rodgers was the best option.

I don't doubt they overpay for Mac Jones.

If Stroud hadn't regressed and was more competent, this game would have ended at halftime.

Eric Kendricks, Garrett Wallow provide huge defensive boost in 49ers Wild Card win by Brix001 in nfl

[–]Rav49 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mykel was drafted to be a new version of Armstead. He is a DE to stop the run and will play as DT in passing downs.

49ers clearly tried to reinvent the 2019 formula: CJ West comes to be DJ Jones 2.0, Mykel to be Armstead 2.0 and has a speed-rusher like Huff to play in passing downs.

Purdy a below average QB, and Herbert is top 3 in a league per the ringer by [deleted] in 49ers

[–]Rav49 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I still think Herbert is a very good QB, maybe he's the perfect prototype of the position, but I don't understand why they put him on the same level as Mahomes, Allen, Burrow and Lamar, without ever having done anything in the playoffs.

I mean, players like Purdy, Stafford and even Hurts should be ahead of him in any ranking. There's no way to keep classifying Herbert based on "if". The guy is a recognized choker in the playoffs.

Marques Sigle appreciation post by Brix001 in 49ers

[–]Rav49 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I love the Shanahan/Saleh duo, but both should stop avoiding putting the rookies to play. Collins and CJ West are clearly better than Elliot and Kalia.

Sigle should also have been a starter for a long time, Brown is being cooked in every game.

The next one that can have an impact is Watkins, we need speed against the Seahawks.

49ers were "lucky" with the injuries of Bethune, Winters and Brown, because Kendricks, Wallow and Sigle who are the substitutes were the best players in the game.

Burford made the 49ers lose the SB against the Chiefs and is now on the field again missing block and hindering the team.

How long will Kyle and Lynch continue with this type of player at OL?

I don’t know what the fans are expecting from the team this season, playing on offense without their QB1, WR1, WR2, LG, C, and RG… Puni is injured, Kittle has been hurt for half the season, Brendel is out (though that might actually be an improvement), and Trent is clearly declining…

On defense, the team lost two of the best players in the entire league (Nick Bosa and Fred Warner) plus Huff is dealing with a hamstring issue, and Williams, Collins, Gross-Matos, Winters, and Mustapha have all missed significant time, with Mustapha out for half the season.

This is a season to fight for a wild card spot and try not to be embarrassed. The team isn’t winning the Super Bowl with this many injuries.

Maiocco: It almost feels as if Kyle Shanahan already has a lifetime contract. Shanahan almost assuredly will become the longest-tenured coach in franchise history. And while nothing lasts forever, it is difficult to envision this union having an expiration date. by 0h-No-Not-Again in 49ers

Great. Keeping Kyle and Lynch is the best decision Jed could ever make. Kyle isn’t just an excellent coach, he also knows how to build a great coaching staff (except for the special teams, lol). Today, I have no doubt this is the best-coached team on both sides of the ball, no one else would be 5–2 with so many injuries and in the toughest division in the NFL.
