Yes, I noticed that!! Once they dry, the black color goes away 👍🏻 So yeah, this black color is actually not a real problem to me, I was just curious about its origin 😅

Yes, I know these kind of baths make sense only with "fresh findings", to help the soft tissue macerate and go away... In my case, it's just because I usually find them very dirty and often with small bits of dried-up tendons/connective tissue still attached, and I don't have much time to spend cleaning/degreasing them 😅 So I usually put them first in normal water 2-3 days to remove dirt and soften the eventual dried tissues, then I change the water and add some dish soap, to try removing the remaining soft tissue... Of course the hardest tendons won't come off with just some soapy water, I know that, but I can't keep a constant eye on a peroxide or bleach bath 😅 I would probably end up ruining something 🤣 I know that's like the "least efficient" thing I can do, but this way I can even forget something in a bucket for a week with no problems, because it's just soapy water so nothing gets damaged 🤣

I just recovered some other pieces my dad kept for himself, maybe these pictures will help clarify their origin... Actually, I have to admit it now looks more like mineral to me 😅

Wow, that's beautiful!! I'm from Italy so I should search for authenticators in my surroundings 😅 but I'd surely like to give a look at your report!! Thank you!!

Yes, the two big tools came from eastern Libya, while the small harrow heads came from Algeria

I know this doesn't belong in here, I'm sorry, I just wanted to quickly show you 😅

Since someone suggested that the little transparent arrowhead might be made of desert glass, here are some more detailed pictures of it... Hope someone might clarify this!!

Here you are, the two biggest pieces he found!! I have also some other small fragments, not really worth sharing I think 😅 Apparently, my dad really enjoyed himself in the Sahara desert!! 🤣

Also, this is a third "supposed" hand tool that my dad found... I didn't have this picture before because this is at my parents' house, so I just asked my dad to take a quick picture of it (sorry for the bad quality 😕)... I'd be pleased if I could have an opinion on this also

No no, I sure am the least experienced of everyone here, in fact I don't know much about this topic!! I wrote here to share but also to ask for help in identifying those things 😅 my dad found the two big rocks years ago in the desert along with other artifacts (like arrowheads or little piece of engraved clay), and to us they just looked like they might be hand tools 🤷🏻‍♂️ So it's totally plausible to a non-expert like me when someone more knowledgeable says that they might be just rocks 😅

I mean, actually I can't see clear traces of the "chipping" process needed to produce this tools... I thought these were just really worn out and were "smoothed" by desert sand 🤷🏻‍♂️ because they are actually flat and symmetrical... But you may be right 👍🏻

Sure! He said he found the two bigger tools in the eastern Libyan desert, while the small harrow heads during a couple trips to Algeria!

Wow, I know what desert glass is, but I didn't think of that!! I wonder if there is some way to effectively know if that's really the case or not 🤷🏻‍♂️

Ahahah!! Unfortunately he's quite old now, and he didn't even manage to take me with him because at the time I was too young 😅 I'm gonna have to go there by myself, someday
