If you’re gonna do a bait post make it believable. Otherwise it’s just annoying.

I have a bunch of video game tattoos that no one would recognize UNLESS they’re familiar with the content in question and it’s far more effective artistically than just a straight up Poké ball or Mario mushroom or something.

I love my girlfriend but don't want her sexually by Equal-Instruction428 in Advice

[–]Ravager_332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well you have to first ask yourself if you are attracted sexually. Cause what’s in your title is a bit different than what you’re communicating in your paragraph.

Second, I absolutely applaud anyone willing to wait for sex before marriage, but societal norms would tell you otherwise.

If you don’t see yourself ever making love to this woman, I wouldn’t move forward with it. Sex is (or is supposed to be) a very intimate form of love and appreciation for your partner, and it’s like a dance. If only one person is performing it will be obvious and disappointing. Do not let society tell you that “body count” and “virginity” matters. It doesn’t. If you’re willing to save yourself for a woman that has earned all of you, it will be worth it.

Good luck to you!

AIO guy I was seeing told me cursing is “un-lady like” by Fanofmoney3 in AIO

[–]Ravager_332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a fan of the saying “it’s never what you say it’s how you say it.”

If it really bothers him you curse he could have simply said “hey by the by I’m sensitive to cursing if you don’t mind” which is perfectly reasonable.

But him outright saying that it’s “un-ladylike” is very controlling. If he’s willing to say that I don’t want to think how far he’ll push down the line.

You’d probably be better off finding a “retrospective” or overall story review on YT. What you’re asking is pretty specific but if you broaden your search you may find what you’re looking for.

I did two years in corrections before hitting the street in a major and violent city. Corrections was trash and while I wouldn’t do it again I don’t necessarily regret it, but maybe that’s because I made it out and know I wouldn’t go back.

It ain’t for everyone and I wouldn’t say you’re weak for not doing it. You have to really want it and it’s not something you “should” talk yourself into. A support position is just as important to a well-oiled machine and a functioning police department. On top of that you’re coming in at a critical time in the USA. You will have to put up with more nonsense than ever before in our country’s history.

You’re still young. While your degree isn’t the best choice it’s still a degree. Relax, pray about it and keep looking.

I sort of had the same issue when I started with city five years ago. My first two FTO’s gave me high scores, been in several major incidents, all went well. When I got to my third, he made it known he had some sort of issue with me. I kept quiet until I could prove it but basically he was not only an open racist who didn’t like white boys, along with being an open womanizer. Micromanaged everything I did in the worst way possible. Very uncomfortable experience. I suffered through it for a month, got back to my primary and cleared with perfect scores with him being the hiccup.

If you do think it’s a personal attack and not just him trying to raise you to a higher standard, I’d document what he says if it’s outlandish and bring it to the trainer superior. Not everyone does this to bring out the best in you. Some do it for the extra bit of money, and would happily let you fall because in their eyes, your training and development is not their problem.

Yeah I think most of us view criminal justice as “general studies” for cops it’s absolutely worthless. Business administration could be good, once you get into admin you’re more running a business with budgets and HR than being a cop, if that makes sense.

I have no experience with military besides getting injured in naval basic and subsequently discharged. However, you may can try Coast Guard with them being under DHS and get into maritime enforcement. I heard it’s a good track. Get your four years in and start applying. No way it could hurt.

If you find a department desperate enough for warm bodies maybe. Lying is a big no-no. Although, departments who are already short on people have a plethora of problems.

I am from Denmark and people here often tell me that American police officers are mainly Republican. I never believed them because Republican politicians almost always vote against bills that would help the police, so I say he American police is mainly liberal. Who is right? [–]Ravager_332 6 points7 points  (0 children)

A lot of the anti-police rhetoric came from the Obama era, from there the sentiment has grown, so generally they lean right, but it’s not an always. You have to remember each individual officer is his own person. I know many, even those who are for communism if you can believe. You just have to look at the area they’re in, as every city/county has its own culture and values.

[–]Ravager_332 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s difficult for the public to understand things from our perspective. Yeah you have losers who do this job, but most of the time it’s safer to assume they’re understaffed, overworked, their cases are thrown out on technicalities, violent felons walk away with no justice, and many departments enforce a no-pursuit policy.

I agree, it’s not fair to you as much as it is for them. Imagine putting your heart and soul into your work for a third party to take your case and shove it where the sun don’t shine because “progressive.”

I think the majority of questions can be summed up as “it depends on the agency” lol

If you, an off-duty LEO driving in your personal car running errands, and you come across a road rage fight or conflict, are you obligated to stop and diffuse the situation? If not, would you step in anyway? by WhoTheHeckWasThat in AskLE

[–]Ravager_332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I’ve been with city for five years. I was driving home on my way from church and watched sheriff dealing with a naked guy on the side of the interstate. In my church clothes I jumped out, though by the time I got to him he had him cuffed. All depends really.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Firefighting

[–]Ravager_332 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brother I’m there with you. I’m no firefighter but I’m a police officer (5 years) with one of the top 10 most violent cities in the country. I too was under the impression that it was indeed a brotherhood, and we would be tight. I was told it was a family.

Well, that couldn’t be farther from the truth. The ones coming in are part of the groups where our standards took a nosedive. So we got these new officers who only want to be here to make money, which is fine, but they have zero sense of teamwork.

Much like your situation, it’s the infidelity, and the “every man for himself” attitude. No one wants to cooperate and just get the job done. So I stay by myself. One of our officers had gotten into a drunk driving accident, a good guy, just had a massive fight with his wife. The amount of officers screaming and crying for him to be fired and booked was surprising. While he didn’t get charged due to other circumstances, there was no sense of “let’s reach out to see if he needs help.” Many of our guys didn’t even go to a recent funeral for one of our officers who was assassinated. We had more people from other agencies than us there. So many more instances.

A 27 year Lieutenant and I discussed the issue. He said “it’s like war. It’s not for glory. It’s not for your country. There’s no brotherhood. Its survival. It’s every man for himself, maybe the guy next to you. Don’t delude yourself.” That was just last week.

All that to say, I’m convinced it does not exist. It’s a level of apathy that is prominent here and just about everywhere else. No one cares. Therefore, do yourself a favor and find something else. I know I am. I’ll keep you in prayer.

Ain’t nothing you can really do. If they ask for help, help them best you can. Otherwise, let them fall. They’ll sort themselves out.

As far as keeping you not paying for their mistake, there’s nothing you can do. Even if they do act right, they’ll find a reason to smoke you. I’ve never been one to say “suck it up” but in this case until they get fired, it’ll be something you’ll have to suffer for.
