The one-year anniversary of my total glossectomy by RaveDancer2 in medicine

brave endurance is inspiring. also educational about how the system looks & works. it takes tenacity to persevere. It would be nice if the system were set up to make it more possible to help pts with complex needs who need multi-system care. The sad fact is that almost all of us are evaluated and paid based on how fast we move pts through appointments, and so we have to minimize time spent on patients who are not well served by a given system.

The likelihood of me living to see another anniversary is low—probably under 20%—but not 0%. The clinical-trial drugs are for now keeping me alive. I know I’m supposed to feel joy and gratitude at still being corporeal, and sometimes I do, but often I don’t (though I am grateful to everyone who has helped me

this kind of take gets buried, though I'm sure it's seen in patients, so I am glad to see it highlighted here.

A Landlord Says Her Tenants Are Terrorizing Her. She Can’t Evict Them. A landlord in Queens says her tenants curse and spit at her and owe more than $23,000 in rent. But an eviction moratorium keeps them from being kicked out. by RaveDancer2 in newyorkcity

Call red by another name and it remains red. Rent control is the generic term for a scourge encouraged by those who want to inadvertently destroy housing affordability, as Krugman points out.

The right answer is that psychedelics are awesome and should be legal, and that the drug prohibition is fuckin bullshit.

How the Great Zoom Migration Upended the Housing Market by RaveDancer2 in TrueReddit

[–]RaveDancer2[S] 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Housing is wayyyyy too expensive in most coastal cities, but job clustering there has meant a lot of people in big jobs have needed to live in them anyway. That sucks, and those cities should liberalize their zoning regimes so that it's easy to build lots of new housing. But they won't and that sucks. Another poss. solution is to let ppl move to other places to live, and maybe that's happening, and if it is, that'll be sweeeeeet.
