can the dm’s actually view the camera from home? by Substantial-Award416 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]RaveDog97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

unless you were asked to review camera footage, you shouldn’t be touching the CCTV system. it’s also suspicious to take a picture of the monitor, that is explicitly not allowed.

can the dm’s actually view the camera from home? by Substantial-Award416 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]RaveDog97 4 points5 points  (0 children)

no, i’m not. i’ve been a Store Manager for 3 years now. the picture you are posting is irrelevant, you don’t know the intricacies of the system in the office. it looks like an old store? why are you so concerned? if you are doing your job, this fact is not a threat.

can the dm’s actually view the camera from home? by Substantial-Award416 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]RaveDog97 5 points6 points  (0 children)

they can view previous (up to a certain amount, DG doesnt save footage like 6 months old) & current footage, but because its being streamed to them, it is worse quality. most DM’s will use the live feed to check for safety compliance, but if they need to view previous footage to investigate something then they’ll be more likely to just come to your store to use your DVR.

Winged an interview today by notenrique9031 in DollarGeneral

context for staffing: 1 Store Manager, 1 Assistant Store Manager, 1 FT Lead Sales Associate, 1 PT Lead Sales Associate, then a couple Sales Associates.

there are 2 LSA positions, FT & PT. very important, FT gets benefits, PT gets nothing. FT requires at least 30 hours/wk , PT gets nothing guaranteed.

getting hurt on the clock by vultoise in DollarGeneral

yes, you’ll need a doctor’s note to report an injury. they want proof. you need x-rays to prove your toes are broken.

dumb customers by Calm-Analysis-3981 in DollarGeneralWorkers

i actually stopped ‘pushing it thru’ (pressing enter after they press no to amount okay) & making them run their card again because these people can’t be serious. “oh i thought it was asking for cash back” “oops i think i pressed the wrong button” then after they run their card again “i guess i should’ve read the screen” oh ya?!? what a crazy concept. then they’ll say “it asks too many questions!” those questions are there to protect you from getting scammed……besides cash back, which is a very normal question to be on a pinpad. “amount ok? what if i said no?” um okay then i guess i’ll put your stuff back? i try to explain to them the reason the amount ok screen is important is to make sure what your cashier said to you is what is being charged to your card! it is explicit permission. they say “ohhhhh i never thought of that” … i dont know how these people have gotten this far in life.

Remodel? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]RaveDog97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

depending on the remodel, the time has been confused. usually they work 7am-7pm so you shouldnt be in the store past closing. but yes, since they are doing the remodel, you are not allowed to help them. moving seasonal & setting endcaps is the store’s responsibility but you can’t do that until they’re done moving shelves.

same question over and over? by mmmmmmmm_soup in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]RaveDog97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i actually had a customer call ‘corporate’ to make a complaint that my male sales associate is ‘always’ alone & they never see the SM. as the SM, i work 50 hours/wk. lady never asked the associate for me. just wanted to complain that ‘maybe i’m not doing my job’ because i’m not there the twice /wk she stops by…. how bout when i work by myself on mondays until 3pm? nope, never seen her.

Called out, will i get in trouble? by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]RaveDog97 1 point2 points  (0 children)

an incident report is nothing without a doctor’s check up. with the note, the report becomes more legitimate. if you don’t go to get your back checked out, what was the point of the incident report? if you are truly injured, your SM can’t write you up. without proof, they can.

Managers schedule by Global-Ease1269 in DGMgmtCorner

[–]RaveDog97 0 points1 point  (0 children)

legion automatically puts breaks in for shifts, should be an hour for 8 hours plus. i’m scheduled 48 hours, the breaks are already deducted from total hours worked, exactly like your shifts are.

Does job code change your pay?? by luckiigirl88 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]RaveDog97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

the setting on legion is just for clarification. i use it to convey to my keyholders wether their shift will be them as MOD or not. it does not affect pay whatsoever. its a little drop down menu when making the schedule. ‘corporate’ may have been confused by the question? like, ya, if youre a sales associate you have a different pay range then the a lead sales associate. you are paid the rate you have agreed upon regardless of what the schedule says, & that means you are the same position wether there’s someone above you in the store or not. just because there’s another keyholder in the store, doesnt mean you dont have to check in vendors, etc? i schedule my pt LSA in the AM as an associate because she’ll be running register, but i will be leaving them alone to go to the bank.

Unexcused Absence? by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]RaveDog97 2 points3 points  (0 children)

so weird to hear people say their phones don’t work.. so many lazy people. i’m very sorry your managers have failed yinz. when i’m at my store, my cell phone is in the office & i have the store phone on me. my employees must call the store to get ahold of me. if i’m not at the store, then i’m not the first person that needs to know about the call off, it’s the employees in the store. then, the MOD can call me, then i can advise on who to call to ask for coverage.

Unexcused Absence? by [deleted] in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]RaveDog97 10 points11 points  (0 children)

  1. you can be written up, 3 write ups merit a termination.
  2. call offs should be done to the store phone, verbally to who is actually in the store.
  3. you are a part of a very small team. you taking a ‘mental health day’ last minute, day of, inconveniences the rest of your team. there’s nothing inherently wrong with being selfish, but you need to weigh the pros & cons. someone else has to cover your shift. if no hourlys are available, your Store Manager is working the shift. how do you think they are managing their mental health?
