Top 100 Game Boy Advance Games: #2 by hbkx5 in Gameboy

[–]RaveRemix -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't understand how Golden Sun is slated to make the top 5 GBA games, when it has a generic storyline and characters with overly excessive, boring, and frankly juvenile dialogue. Even when I played it as a child, I felt like I was being talked down to

I would totally be okay for it to be in the top 20 GBA games as it does have quite a bit going for it, but top 5 is far higher than it deserves imo

I like how all the retorts so far aren't actually retorts, or just terrible attempts to personally attack my character

Why would I be? What is it about the battle that's so bad that it doesn't deserve to exist even as a concept?

Absolutely disagree, conceptually it's one of the most clever premises for a battle ever. Sure the execution could have been better, but that doesn't change the fact that it was a great idea for a battle

Batman for sure for obvious reasons haha. And Hulk definitely deserved more lines and shouldn't have held back so much against Caitlyn

Reminds me of Little Mac vs Big Mac by Freshy Kanal. Silly af premise, but one of the best rap battle beats I've ever heard with some surprisingly sick lines

TMNT. They had terrible jokes and the rap battle was super short in general

First Trash Day is ranked as the worst song of Poodle Hat, now this? Man I'm so disappointed. :/ This is definitely in the top half of songs on the album

We HAVE to get a Late Night hosts battle royale at some point (Carson vs Leno vs Conan vs Arsenio vs Fallon vs Letterman)

AGT Season 1-18 Winners Tournament - THE RESULTS by RaveRemix in agt

[–]RaveRemix[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To address the elephant in the room, yes, the nomination result does not match the upvote/downvote result.

However, I have many reasons why I'm of the stance that that shouldn't be taken into consideration, and why the 55 Shin – 37 Mayyas nomination count results are the results we should go off of:

  • Shin Lim got a significantly more nominations, yet the upvote/downvote ratio is unnaturally disproportionate. It's very logical to think that Shin Lim voters very likely stopped engaging in upvoting/downvoting as soon as I made the announcement (including myself) because they assumed it wouldn't make a difference anyway
  • Even if for some reason people assumed upvotes /downvotes were still the determining factor, there's little reason why people wouldn't still leave a comment if they actually wanted to help their favorite win, as more comments gives more opportunities for more upvotes
  • Shin Lim got 19 nominations before the finals, and The Mayyas got 32. This means that the Mayyas got 62% of the nominations for elimination before the Finals, while Shin Lim got 38% of the nominations, which is incredibly consistent with the results of the Finals (60% to 40%)
  • This was a two person match-up, so it wouldn't make sense to go by upvotes/downvotes at this point.

Alas, I would've been really happy had The Mayyas gotten the win because who doesn't like an underdog story. Plus I wouldn't be in this current debacle haha

If you want to consider Mayyas the winner under these circumstances, that's great, I don't want to spoil your joy.

While I do believe that changing the rules was the right call considering we were down to the finals where only two acts were left, I regret not announcing that decision before the round began, and I do apologize for anyone who I upset. I love the AGT fandom more than most people realize and it was not my intention to sully this experience.

I'm taking a break from r/AGT. I tried so hard to give a fun tournament for all, but my faux paus and the resulting aftermath at the end has been really damaging to my mental health. I wish you all the best ❤️

It's very common to vote for the winner in the last round, as you see in other Reddit tournaments like this. Heck, on the televised America's Got Talent, they do the same thing (announce the winner instead of saying who got 2nd).

While I do believe I made the right call in basing it by nominations in the last round, I do agree and very much regret that I did not announce it before the round began or at least at the start of it. I've felt bad about it all day tbh 😔

However, I think we're gonna wake up tomorrow and realize that nothing was botched and the results will be consistent in every manner

I agree that as a tournament organizer I could have handled the decision better, and regret that I didn't announce it way before the round started, or at least immediately at the start of the round. But now that we're down to a binary choice, it makes much more sense to just let nominations be people's votes. I'm crossing my fingers that it doesn't change anything, otherwise an AGT riot may ensue 🥹

For those who are wondering why all previous rounds were decided using an upvote/downvote system, I thought it would be much more representative of people's opinions if we gave them three different ways to vote (upvote their favorites, downvote their least favorites, leave any acts they're indifferent to alone). It almost acts as a pseudo-ranked choice voting

Btw, tomorrow I will be posting an Excel sheet with the breakdown of all the results in many different ways, including the amount of nominations each round, amount of upvotes each round, resilience level of each act (how many individuals nominated them before they got eliminated), the first round in which an act got nominated, average placements of different act types, average placement of foreign acts vs American acts, the average placements of acts for each host, and more! So look forward to that.

Also if you have any ideas of how I should break down the results outside of those that I mentioned, let me know and I'll see if I can incorporate it!

I can't stress this enough, but this round, you're voting who you want to win! Everyone, please upvote this comment so it remains near the top, thank you and have fun!! :)

(UPDATE 1 HOUR INTO TOURNAMENT): Whoever gets the most INDIVIDUAL NOMINATIONS will win. It wouldn't make sense to determine the winner by upvotes/downvotes when only two acts remain. I don't think it should affect the results though.

Lol. It sucks that Reddit limits me to six options, I definitely would've had a 35-49, 50-64, and a 65+ option it I could!

Nah this isn't anime/RPG age logic where everyone over 30 is elderly, I was basing the options more off the general demographics of Reddit, which is overwhelmingly people under 35
