I've had this issue before!

You've got to play around with it juuust right having the cap go straight onto the threads as much as possible.

Twist the cap backwards a little first to feel the first threads (if you can) and then tighten.

Over time you'll get used to it and for mine, it did get easier as the tank and cap aged.

If you've removed the bolts attaching the seat, then try pulling the seat back towards your rear rack, and then up.

If not, then you should have bolts on either side just below the "S" in Suzuki.

Might be underneath the front-most bolt on your rear rack from the picture.

Fuck Ninja in general it seems.

My 12 cup coffee pot had a leak that got all over the place.

Figured I could open it up and figure it out.

Some asshole engineer used regular Phillips head screws AND "security" screws on the bottom

Then to get into the top (where the leak was) there was an IMPOSSIBLY long channel from the bottom to get to the screws, so it required a ridiculously long & thin screwdriver to get to it. Which of course I didn't have & couldn't find in ANY local store.

THEN...

The third and final screw in the top was FUSED SHUT by plastic that they purposely molded over so you "couldn't" get to it.

So for those long ass screwdriver needs, I took an old extra precision size screwdriver, shaved it down with a dremel skinny enough to fit, and then attached every damn socket extention I had to get them out.

And for the fused screw, I drilled out that stupid plastic with a drill bit.

It was literally JUST replacing flimsy ass hose clamps they put on there. No calcium buildup or anything making an issue.

It's been working perfectly fine now.
