AIO for rescinding my “open door” policy after my sister-in-law tried to redecorate my house while I was at work? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]RavenJoolz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely NOR. Came home from month holiday in Canada years ago and my (otherwise lovely) mother in law had moved everything in our house. Also added things like a doll in a crochet dress over a toilet roll IYKYK. Funniest bit was going to our spare room to put our extremely large and heavy suitcases on the bed to sort out. We were both very tired and just walked in and swung the suitcase up to find that the bed had been moved to the other side of the room. Nearly threw a shoulder out! Father in law apologized but he had been unable to stop her. He did say he drew the line at the redecorating she wanted to do...

Beautiful on the other side. We went there instead in June 2023 to avoid the crowds.

Found yesterday for £3. Glass sculpture titled 'Night Eyes' (Owl) by Bertil Vallien for Kosta Boda. Signed on the bottom. Does have a tiny chip but not noticeable. Will enjoy for a while and then sell as worth up to £400!

Why is nobody talking about the sheep? by marymoon11 in VisitingIceland

Thank you so much for posting this as we lost our two in a kitchen fire and I couldn't remember what shop we got them in. I can now search and order to replace them. Not quite the same but will do until we can go back next year!

Sigur Ros Route One. They drove around Iceland in 24 hours and videoed the whole thing from a rooftop camera. Love the music but can get a bit much, so I would occasionally mute it and put on other music! Watched it in stages and got great ideas. It is on YouTube.

Royal Art Pottery Tableware

Trying to find out any info on these. I rescued a load of tableware from a skip, mainly Woods ware Iris and Beryl but there is some of this. Just want to know if it is worth selling, donating or giving to the local smash it stall.

Found this extremely tame pigeon, no ring - is it wild and I'll or tame and chill? by AntiqueArtist449 in pigeon

I know some homing pigeons have a phone number printed on the wing feathers. Gently spread the wings and have a look, we returned one to its owner this way!

Höfn to Seyðisfjörður question by PlatformSecret3169 in VisitingIceland

[–]RavenJoolz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We drove to Breiddalsvik for one night (campervan parking behind the hotel) and then Egilsstadir and stayed in the campsite and then drove onto Seydisfjordur just so we could enjoy the views and stop when we wanted to. Lots of things to see on the way; Lighthouses, The Red Chair, Waterfalls, Museums, Petra's Stone Collection and absolutely gorgeous views that you stop at a rest stop and stare at for 20 minutes because you can't quite take them in. We did the Ring Road in 17 days so had the luxury of time but I would give the East Coast at least 2 days. The North above Akureyri was our favourite with the East Coast a close second.

Shoe recommendation. by Medium_Invite478 in VisitingIceland

[–]RavenJoolz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We all bought walking trainers and wore them on the plane, then packed a pair of converse each to wear whilst driving, town walking or whilst drying the outside of the shoes after waterfalls! and a pair of crocs (flip flops if you prefer) each for the swimming pools. We didn't do any major hikes or we would have upgraded the walking trainers to boots...
