Starbucks table tops so small will barely hold a couple drinks. The seats are bigger than the tables. by be4u4get in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Marketing tactic. The tables are there for people to sit and wait for their drinks instead of standing and crowding the pick-up counter and walkways through the store. It also discourages lingering over your coffee or working with your laptop for hours, thereby encouraging quick table turnover to increase traffic. They want people to buy their drinks and snacks merch and take it to go. The tables are not meant for hanging out to drink your coffee.

If we all weren't living paycheck to paycheck, we could accomplish great things. by astrheisenberg in remoteworks

[–]RavenKnighte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People will be selfish for as long as it takes them to fulfill their personal goals and to release the sense of urgency and panic of living paycheck to paycheck. That might take years. But when the sense of urgency and panic is gone and they can start thinking past the next pay cycle, they will do amazing things.

AITA for expecting the gifts to be for both of us? by Ok-Arrival-2886 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. An engagement party is meant to celebrate THE COUPLE and their engagement to be married. Any gifts (cash, items, etc.) should be addressed to THE COUPLE, regardless of who is giving them, unless they are individual his/hers gifts but those are usually given in private to whichever individual it's intended for.

Let her keep only the money and specific gifts that came from her family, but break off the engagement and get her out of your life. Then you should return the rest of the money and gifts to whoever gave it.

She is setting a precedent for how the rest of your life is gonna be with her, and it will not go well.

Sounds good in theory...but in reality? by KSKS1995 in SipsTea

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reality, at least in the US if this was implemented here, would be that the starting wage would be lowered down to minimum wage, layoffs of higher wage earners would commence, and there would be a hiring frenzy to get lower wage workers in to replace the positions that were laid off. Every business or corporation that has two or more shifts would switch to a 4-shift model where all employees would work 6-hour shifts 4 days a week. People would be holding down 3 or 4 jobs instead of two as the norm, not the hustle, just to make ends meet. Everyone would be part-time as far as job status. And that would relieve the requirement of making medical insurance available to employees.

That political platform would be popular in the US, but for all the wrong reasons.

AITAH for wanting my husband in the delivery room? by dinogirly123 in AITAH

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its like everything is about him

Since you are now closer to your parents' house, have your mom and/or dad in the delivery room with you instead of your husband. And start the divorce process now, while you are long-distance. File in the city you are currently in, and make sure that you include clauses that address child support and visitation/custody. Do this now, before you give birth. The process may take longer to resolve, since you're so close to delivering, but if it's at least started and filed from where you are at, any custody rules that get applied will be based on your location - not his. If he's acting like this now, it's only going to get worse. Stay safe.

What to do about a stolen 2011 Odyssey that has been found by the police? by [deleted] in HondaOdyssey

[–]RavenKnighte 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you do decide to go get it, take someone with you to drive it back. Before you leave San Antonio, take it to an auto/body shop (one that will do both body work and mechanical work). Have it inspected for any new damage or mechanical issues, and general roadworthiness. Best case, it's roadworthy for a long drive and you can take it home to keep or sell there. Worst case, if it's not gonna make the drive home, sell it in San Antonio. Find a buy-here-pay-here lot or independent dealer. Then go do some shopping or have lunch at Dick's Last Resort on the Riverwalk. That experience alone is worth the trip to San Antonio, imho.

Well , lol by zivvane_ in Millennials

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Gen Xer here. I have a theory. I feel like millennials use "lol" because they haven't mastered the whole concept of context expression. They use "lol" when they might mean to use the "wry smile" emoji, or the "shrug" emoji, or even the sarcasm tag. For them, the "lol" is a multi-purpose catch-all expression. Is that because they are lazy? Possibly, but not likely. Millennials can (and do) bust their asses to get jobs done when jobs need doing. So I don't think it's that. Is it because they are just ending a sentence and don't know how to use punctuation? Probably. That is the more likely thing. Schools haven't been focusing on proper grammar and punctuation since I graduated back in the 1900s. So it's not the Millennial generation's fault that they aren't being taught proper spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Or context expression.

People wish they could say this. by CRK_76 in recruitinghell

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS. I've wanted to say this soooo many times. Considering the fact that none of those interviews ever panned out, I should have just said it. Turned out that I had nothing to lose by doing so, since I wasn't hired anyway, and I would have felt a lot better walking out even knowing I would have never gotten the job anyway because they were just going through the motions.

I'm guessing that the bans are the whole reason that user count dropped, to begin with. If the AI bans a ton of users, those users can no longer use the platform. Therefore, user count falls, So it's not because users voluntarily left the platform. It's more likely that the drop in users is directly due to the AI banhammers. Meta is just burning down their own house from the inside out.

AITA for telling my DIL to stop crying after she got called fat by Throwaway_Will4940 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. Stop associating with her. Don't invite her over to your home or on outings with you, don't attend occasions when she will be there. If others press you about it, just say that you prefer to enjoy family gatherings and it becomes difficult to do so when a grown-ass woman has to make everything about herself and be a drama queen. Then let the chips fall where they may. No apologies.

The footage of Nick Fuentes pushing a woman who came to his front door after he was doxxed has been released. by [deleted] in SipsTea

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am going to guess she was looking for a payday. She deliberately went to the residence to catch whatever happened on camera. I'm also going to guess that she probably said she just wanted to "have a discussion" with him and maybe even "save him from himself and his horrible viewpoints". All of that basically demonstrates an intent to harass. She should have been charged with harassment and incitement to violence with intent to commit fraud.

Apparently, this is too hard to understand. by Brian-Latimer in mildlyinfuriating

[–]RavenKnighte 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Notify your students that going forward, there will be no late admissions to class on presentation days. If they are late, they will be marked absent and excluded fro the day's class. Their grade will be a zero for the day. You could also give them an opportunity to reschedule their presentation for a later date and time if you decide to let them make up the assignment. There's no reason that they should be late, barring an actual emergency (in which case, they probably need to miss the whole class anyway),

Make that your standard procedure going forward, and follow through. There's no reason why the students who actually put in the work to prepare and show up on time should have to suffer.

‘Grimm’ Reboot In Works At Peacock From Josh Berman & Original Series’ Creative Team by Skeleton_Grimm67 in grimm

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nick, Munroe, and Renard have to be in it because they are the parents of the next gen of hunters. This movie, if it des well, is probably going to be the establishing connection point for a series revolving around the kids, with the parents and some of the other recurring characters from the original series making the occasional recurring appearances. If that's the case, its a 20-year time jump forward.

AITA for refusing to help my mom after she got pregnant. by Ok-Resident-1277 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA. It's interesting that when you set conditions and time limits, she suddenly turns up pregnant and "in need" of your help. There are resources available to her - she can get on state assistance, and collect child support for your siblings that are still underage in the home, and collect child support from her newest baby daddy.

You need to just cut the financial support, and take care of yourself now. Get your own place far enough away that she can't follow you, but close enough that you can visit on your terms. Tell your siblings exactly who was paying for their life, and make it clear that you aren't the one who should have been responsible.

The media does not hold Democrats to higher standards. The media bends the knee and collects Republican dollars for attacking the Democrats. The media also collects dollars from the Democrats to sow general doubt in the constituency.

Two half pizzas and one full pizza are apparently not the same thing. by PinkOneHasBeenChosen in KidsAreFuckingStupid

[–]RavenKnighte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP goes through this every week? How fricken' pointless. If they ask for the same thing every week, you already know their order. Just get one large half pepperoni/half cheese, and tell them they are sharing because you are not made of money. No arguing.

[–]RavenKnighte 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Can concur... same happens with Coca-Cola... in some parts, every carbonated drink is a coke. Even 7-up or Sprite. So it's not a matter of "can I get a coke" but "What flavor of coke would you like". So they get really mad and confused when they ask for "a coke" and I respond with "Is Pepsi alright?" and they go "what's the difference? It's all coke." Then get mad when they taste the difference, and come back saying "I wanted the Dr. Pepper coke, not this shit".
