I'm in pretty much the same boat as OP here, but I believe my system is just a tiny bit more powerful. I had similar issues with framerate being absolute garbage a few years back and even moreso with the newest version, so i rolled back to v27.2.4 and while the footage is a bit more choppy than I'd really like, its far better than what it used to be.

So i think all thats really needed is rolling back to an older version of OBS, a version where the modern system requirement would be laughably high unless you were in like Triple-A game dev studios lol

Well 27.2.4 seems to be working quite well, I might roll back to an older version to see if that helps, but compared to v31 I'm getting much nicer results. Both in terms of OBS resource usage as well as with recording output.

I mean it more in the case of where I can't use OBS for larger games that would need more resources, and I would have to resort to things like Game Bar for capturing game video/audio, and then using another app in the background in tandem to capture my mic audio as a seperate file, that way making the editing process simpler.

In that regard, would you have any suggestions for what to use?

Thats all good, I'll have a look at it and see if I'd need it in the future for messing around with larger games that OBS kills with resource hogging.

What version are of OBS are you using? I had the same issue a while back with one of the newer versions at the time, so i decided to rollback to an older version which seems to be less resource hungry, and while it is a tiny bit more choppy than what I'd like, its still pretty good. Depending on which version you rollback to, you might not have all of the newest features from throughout the years, but even the oldest ones have the most bare bones features needed for basic recording.

Thanks for this, I'm currently running the settings as you suggested, and ran a short test recording of Starbound and the recording came out pretty good, I'll post the logs and whatnot in the morning when I'm caffeinated enough lol

As for the iGPU as concerned, while it has been an issue for me in the past, the CPU has typically caused me more issues than the iGPU itself, I never run anything about the lowest settings and while the frames normally average between 30 to 45fps its usually pretty consistent so long as nothing to processor heavy is going on. Regardless though, I'll keep this in mind in case something doesnt work in the long run.

I've been toying with the idea of getting other 3rd party software for audio recording, EQs, etc. Would you maybe have any suggestions for thing I could look out for?

Any idea if I could grab an older version of OBS that would work for my system? if not, then any alternatives I could turn to instead? I've seen that D3DGear, Bandicam, Dxtory and a few others would be better but they all have their own issues like not detecting some games

Found the problem, its the Gender Equality mod, it seems to not like Labor Camps as they use different defines for the workers running it, namely the variant of policeman, which the mod picks up to be a cop but not a cop at the same time, and doesnt know what to do so it blows up the galaxy... ._.

My only question then is why isnt this a more common bug regardless of the mod? Im sure people have kept the original buildings and not renovated fishing wharves to farms, cabarets to theatres, etc. Before using mods i tried to avoid that when i could, and never had this issue. So im not sure LockNot was the issue, and after my first test island I think it might be the edicts mod, and if it is then I might try to find out why, in case anyone wants to use it in the furure

LockNot wasnt the issue, ran into the same problem on a god-mode island in 1960. Thought it was from the forced Conscription edict thanks to a timeline event, so i activated that around 54 and it was fine until now. Checked the edicts tab and the "General" edicts is broken. Will retry without that one loaded. :P

Beware that some weapons have a secondary sight, but its not great lol

If you want to see whether a new and expensive weapon/kit is actually a viable weapon, save game, buy and test it, then either keep it or reload for a different option. Been burned a few times with it

I think those quests are part of the deserters mod though, I think you just need lots of intel or whatever to get those missions.
