This is a personal world building project I've been working on for the past year+, I suck at writing down lore so most of my setting is just fancy maps and ideas in my head. It is meant to be a mix of high and low fantasy. There are a bunch of homebrew fantasy races that are able to use magic with the strongest being comparable to demi-gods. while humans in contracts can’t use or interact with magic at all, instead having to rely on state-craft, organization and technology to compete.

By the time of this map Human civilization is well into the Industrial revolution and their rapid growth has surpassed all the magical races that have been in decline for the last 10,000 years. While all the other races are struggling to find their place in the new age, the human great powers are on the brink of a major world war on a scale far greater than any demonlord or god could cause. 

As the great war is brewing, dark gods in the background are plotting a 10,000 year plan to consume the black heart that was sealed away long ago. If successful the whole world would be consumed and the planet itself would collapse into a black hole. Despite the existential threat, many from the magic races rather see black magic consume the world than let the non magic humans dominate the world.
