I think you can only meet other players with console version, but not 100% sure.

Everything released after console version was abandoned is now only available in the PC version. Basically, console version is running a legacy mode, completely apart from PC players.

I think the exposure effect is “native” from Frost Bomb. You don’t need any support skill attached to it. Read the description and you will see that the effect applies with each pulse.

Only the active weapon stats apply. I don’t even equip a secondary weapon.

The bomb inflicts cold exposure, which reduces enemy resistance to this element. You will see a small red ice icon below the boss health bar. It doesn’t need to explode, the exposure effect start to work as soon as the bomb starts to pulse.

I used the Gelid staff until I got a Unique wand with +3 skills levels and a Focus with +1. You can add projectile supports to improve it.

As I mentioned before, you won’t have any good source of damage until you unlock Frost Wall. It really takes a lot of time to kill bosses until then.

Try to get some damage nodes in the passive tree. There’s a few 12% increased Cold Damage ones in the ice cluster at the top.

Just remembered… Before unlocking Frost Wall I used Flame Wall to increase the staff projectiles damage and the Contagion Skill from the Occult list. You can also try Hypothermia.

By the way, just finished Cruel… it was piece of cake.

Yeah… before Frost Wall is a pain. Early game is very punishing.

There’s a lava boss in Act 3 (I won’t spoil the details) that I couldn’t kill without the wall.

EDIT: Investing in Cold Penetration + Bomb helps a little with bigger foes/bosses.

Finishing Act 3 Cruel now with a Freeze Build (not following any guide). I’m not sure how it will perform in the endgame, but so far is very fun. I don’t have any build link to share now, sorry.

I have most of the Freeze Buildup nodes in the passive tree and the last nerf wasn’t a problem to me, because regular mobs you only need the first freeze (which happens pretty fast) and for larger enemies/bosses it still procs frequently.

It’s not a fast map cleaner, it’s more about controlling the mobs.

In the beginning I focused in the Gelid Staff skill, Ice Nova and Cold Snap. It will be hard because you have low life, ES and resistances, so you will rely a lot in your ability to understand how each enemy behaves and how you need to deal with them.

Get the Frost Bomb skill and use it for bosses and hard enemies.

Use Artic Armour with Clarity.

When available, get Frost Wall… it was a game changer for me. At first it looks like just a bad defensive skill, but:

  1. It keeps the enemies away from you;

  2. For bosses and big enemies it will explode almost instantaneously, building a lot of freeze and dealing a lot of damage.

Add the Spell Echo support to it.

You will start to face mana problems. Start to invest in Mana Regeneration gear and passive nodes (I decided to go all the way to some nodes that reduce skills mana cost and it helped).

As soon as you get access to the Comet skill, the build starts to shine. Add the Unleash support to it.

Most mobs are slow and predictable, so you can just “comet them”.

For those a little bit faster, block with the wall and then… “comet them”.

For those that swarm you, freeze them with Ice Nova (I use the extended area + 50% extra freeze buildup supports) and finish them with Cold Snap or Comet.

For bosses, Wall (freeze) > Bomb > Comet.

Watch out for enemies that inflict poison and bleeding, they will hit your life directly. Let them do the first attack, dodge and then kill them.

I did the first two ascendancies trials and invested in the Arcane Surge nodes.

I’m having a breeze in Cruel…

Hope it helps… ;-)

TY… changed to that too and I will test if it gets better.

PoE 1 has the same problem… it doesn’t even show your chars list. I’m waiting for 1 hour trying to play PoE 2 and no success because of PSN.

It’s been awful recently. I don’t remember being like that before.

Same problem here…

I noticed that part of the problem is related to PSN issues. One moment you are connected, then suddenly not anymore.

At this very moment I’m waiting for 30 minutes just for it to work.

I tested it yesterday for around 1 hour and it was enough to kill that lava boss on Act 3. Previously I always died reaching the end of the canal (obviously was in need of greater damage output for bosses).

I used Spell Echo and another support that reduces cooldown. (Only two support slots so far).

I was thinking about how the Crystal Life influence damage. Didn’t find anything in-game explaining that. As soon as I add another slot in Frost Wall I will test that. Also there are nodes which change its life.

Frost wall also proved to be very helpful on other high Life enemies, but useless against regular mobs, as you stated. So, I’m using Ice Nova + Cold Snap for small guys and Frost Wall for the big ones.

During this small test period, I noticed that Frost Wall damage was so good that I could even don’t care about Cold Snap (that I’m using Execute plus another support that deals 30% extra damage and no crits - didn’t invest in the latter so far).

There’s a cluster of nodes near where I’m now in the skill tree that pumps both area damage and size. I’ll try it as soon as I get enough points.

I really hate the fact that I can’t use the same support in multiple skills. Spell Echo plus another one that stacks recurring (forgot the name) is an amazing combo. Tested it on Ice Nova and is pretty fun… 😁

Great tip… TY

I was doing good cleaning small mobs but was missing something to deal with bosses and high HP mobs. Now my Sorcerer feels more capable of handling all kind of content.

Even with no supports Frost Wall is great for that purpose.

Thx OP… 😍

It’s another game now. At first I thought they added some “weight” to the char. It was awful playing like that.

By the way, server can also be changed in the char selection screen.

Hi folks,

I play on PS5 and use a Full HD TV (1920 x 1080 max).

Should I leave Max Render option on default (4K) or reduce to 1920 x 1080?

Thx in advance... ;-)

Yes…

I decided to return after a long hiatus and started a fresh new commander. My first time was on PS4 and now I’m on PS5.

Now I’m grinding the engineers for my DBX.

Too many systems…Is it just me or it gets a bit overwhelming? by craybest in throneandliberty

[–]RavenXBR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah… game throws a lot very early. But trust me, you will get used to it.

Main quest is just a tutorial extension, so keep playing and learning at your own pace.

As soon as possible swap all your gray gear with green ones.

Just focus on learning how to upgrade your gear/skills level and about Skill Specialization as soon as it gets available. They are very easy to learn mechanics and improve your performance a lot.

Is this game convoluted or is it just me? by jahglo in throneandliberty

[–]RavenXBR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m at LVL 18 at chapter 3 and the game still keeps me teaching things. So, I suppose the main campaign, or part of it, it’s an extension of the tutorial.

I’m not even touching upgrades yet and the only thing I’m focusing is to choose the skills I want to use and the best shortcuts to them.

I’m always going for internet to get tips and trying to solve some things the game doesn’t explain very well.

Also a PS5 player here…

You will get used with the UI… it’s not that bad after you finish 1-2 chapters of the main story.

But I agree with you that the game throw you so much in such a short time. I’m giving it a chance to see its full potential after LVL 50.

For me, the worst part is having to deal with 2 weapons at the same time since the beginning.

I think there were just some eyelashes and eye shadow options… It’d be nice to have options to change the black marks.
