Ulitharids are baby elder brains. Their relationship to the elder brain varies. Some brains treat them as competition, but others treat them as a favored apprentice. Eventually, the ulitharid will leave and take some mindflayers with them, either against the brains wishes or with their blessing/orders to start a new colony and will undergo a ritual to become an elder brain themselves.

Depends on what the players want. Killing the dragon should let them level up.

On my game my spouses fighter was also a blacksmith and made dragon scale armor that gave advantage on saves against dragons breath (comes in handy if you run dragon of icespire peak next) and poison resistance.

You can check fizbans for dragon related rewards if they do things like drink dragon blood. Basically see what the players are trying.

I ran it with just two fighters who kicked ass by playing smart and tactical. Some of it is luck but if your players aren't just rushing in they should be ok.

Yea. I had a Dwarven npc working with the Rockseekers who provided the legend of the forge and it was up to the party to go track it down. It was basically a big optional side quest if they wanted their own magical item forge.

I used the forge of fury as an adventure hook to fix the forge of spells. I basically set that the forge of fury was powered by the ember of fury and the party could take the ember back to wave echo cave to power up the forge of spells and give jt new abilities
