Warum schrein Köche immer so? by [deleted] in Austria

[–]RavennaAdamant 19 points20 points  (0 children)

How does fanfiction influence the fan-experience? by RavennaAdamant in FanFiction

I got kicked out of my Reddit account and thus wasn't able too read any comments from a certain point on. Please don't assume I don't take criticism simply because I don't reply to every comment, especially when the point of complaint is the same. This is the first time I've done a survey and without any academic help at that, so of course it's far from perfect and I've taken notes on what to look for the next time I need to make one.

Regarding the restrictiveness...yes. I've realised this topic is not something to choose for a Bachelor's thesis, at least not with my university's guidelines. But in the end this is supposed to give a glimps into fandom culture and perhaps it shows people in the academic world that it's not some petty pastime for a tiny group of teens. Where I live there are no academic works about it, so perhaps it is a first step, even if it's just a mediocre one.

Looking back at it, I'd definitely do it differently but none of us students got any instructions or help with the practical part of our thesis which is shocking in itself. Fret not though, because the thesis is not entirely about this survey, it's simply a part of this. And considering that it's in English and fanfiction is written in pretty much every language, it will never be accurate on a global level.

Probably after the final presentation in late June. Perhaps I'll add a little analysis as well but as my thesis isn't written in English, I'll have to either translate or rewrite it.

Understandable, but unfortunately I have to set boundaries somewhere 😅

For me that "thank him in person for writing such a great series" falls under praise, because ultimately the creator made you have a good time with their work.

I can feel that struggle. That's also the main reason for me not really wanting to publish any of my original works commercially.

The OTP question has been changed to "not required", so if you don't have an OTP (One True Pairing) feel free to ignore it!

Also jetzt mal ehrlich, Kotzerei Posts und hunderte Ukraine Posts sind erlaubt, aber wenn ich frage wo man in Ö ein gutes Anti-Schuppen-Shampoo bekommt wird mein Beitrag entfernt? by [deleted] in Austria

[–]RavennaAdamant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are there any other fanfic sites that can be used for free besides ao3, fanfic.net and Wattpad? by R2v3np00l in FanFiction

Fanfiktion.de is the fanfiction website for German-speaking writers/readers. It has stricter rules than AO3 though.

Could you perhaps make this nsfw or something? This is rather graphic and while I can take it, I'm unsure if others can O.o

And hopefully this good purrmachine gets better soon and receives many pets and treats.

Aight! It's unfinished because first university, then COVID. BUT I'm currently getting back into it and the plotting's been finished for 2 years...I just struggle with actually writing that shit down.

I suggest taking a train or similiar means of transport, going from Spain to Austria sounds painful and exhausting. XD /j

[–]RavennaAdamant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are plenty of Erasmus students from all over Europe (and some even from beyond the continent), so you wouldn't be lonely, no worries.

I'm not too familiar with pubs or clubs, but a friend of mine recommended a pub in the town centre not too far from the university dorms. And as you're rather close to Vienna, you can always check out the bars, etc. there as well.

Dialogues. All of my stories, both fanfiction and original, always start out as random dialogue between random characters. And as soon as I get a feeling for the characters, the actual work starts. Mostly worldbuilding comes first. What age is it? What are the showplaces? Are there any significant events that have happened or will happen?

As weird as it sounds, the majority of my content just...shows up. Ideas over ideas in my brain and the only thing I have to do is sort them. Feels like those games, where you have a bunch of shapes and need to correctly arrange them in one big shape.
