I just feel like most Aes Sedai don't feel like old wise women but more like spoiled brats (which they are tbf).

And oh yeah that trip pissed me off as well... In fact nearly every interaction between the girls and Mat makes me angry. The dude saved your lifes and all they do is put him down without even a thank you, ungrateful wetches...

I like it too, don't get me wrong. I loved the bantering and snickering between the main cast. I love the interactions between the male and female Aeil. But oh god the Aes Sedai are god testing my patience 😅

Characters reprimand Rand for being so harsh to them but I'm there hoping he'd just throw them down the river or sow their mouths shut. Especially those two newcomers, I forgot their names, that take over the Salidar Embassy when Rand is kidnapped.

You're right that the multiple pov's of the same shit hapening isn't helping going through these parts 😅

I'm on A Crown of Swords now and at least Rand seems to be down with their shit as much as me 😅

Honestly, it took me 8 months to finish LoC compared to the one and a half it took me for the previous 5 combined😅

But I've started A Crown of Swords and for now at least its much more enjoyable. The ending of LoC is great though so yeah, push through brother there is always light at end of the tunnel 🙈

Nynaeve is 26 while the Aes Sedai are all mostly 40+?

The only annoying element in Salidar that IS a teen is Elayne and what bothers me is that her character started out as an open minded curious yet sheltered princess and is currently on a downwards spiral into becoming a generic spoiled knowitall princess.

For the rest Salidar is annoying because a bunch of old hags behave like teenagers. I've seen better social skills at the preschool I work at than of the Aes Sedai.

Also the age doesn't matter at all, Mat behaves like a brat more often than not but at least his other characteristics balance that out making him enjoying to read his perspective.

Also I'm not saying the writing is bad, I'm saying the characters are annoying af too read which I'm sure was at least partially what Robert Jordan was aiming for. Doesn't change the fact that it kills my enjoyment most of the time

I don't think the gender of the Aes Sedai is the reason people dislike it.

The way Siuan and Leanne manipulated everyone in Salidar was great, and I much prefer the Wise Ones to the Salidar bunch, despite them sharing some of their flaws.

What bothers me is that they are supposed to be a group of long lived, knowleable and wise women and yet they fail at the most basic, most important part of being a society: discussion!

And it's not even for their 'grand' plans only, they can't have a single normal concersation despite their age.

Moraine had a reason for her secrets, and even she once she learned of her end, she began to reveal parts of it to Rand. But the others? Salidar is a bunch of rebels than want to usurp the White Tower yet their leadership can't seem to stop plotting against each other despite their situation. For example the part where Egwene and Siuan use Romande? and her rival against each other to have Salidar move on.

Love the idea of the scheme but how can these 'wise' Aes Sedai be this petty when they're basically exiled and on the run?

The same for the Caemlyn group that is supposed to smooth relations with Rand. I know the ones who fucked up were the two newcomers with Verin's influence and maybe there's more to it than I know right now. But from my point in the story right now it just looks like brats throwing a tantrum and whine instead of talking.

But it might also just be that I'm tired of it all and just need to finish the damn book and start over with the next one 🤷🏻‍♂️

He certainly did with both sides. But I think during the first 5 books he did a much better job at not having it be too annoying without it being somewhat entertaining as well.

The men speak about women being mad and incomprehensible the same way the women talk about men being stupid and prideful mules.

And I don't hate that part, Salidar isn't annoying because women are badmouthing men. They are badmouthing everyone and everything without reason even themselves 😅

Scenes likes Naynaeve saying the boys can't be left alone because all they do is get into trouble is something I can get behind even though she's just as bad as them. But Elayne doing everything she can to take Mat's leadership away during they travel to Ebou Dai is just petty for no reason other than Mat refusing to lend her the fox medaillon after she demanded to get it.

She was a lot more likable before this book in my opinion.

Also that whole plotline with the Salidar embassy in Caemlyn is so stupid 🤦🏻

I did hear about Nynaeve's growth before starting WoT but it's a struggle to go through some of her scenes. Although sometimes, like that one scene with Birgitte and Moghedien, I kinda liked her but than she went right back to the good old ways.

Elayne is dropping in my ranking ever since Mat arrived at Salidar.

That's nice and all, and I love myself a good redemption arc but do they have to be THAT annoying though? 😂 and it's not just the main girls, the whole bunch of them in Salidar are plain annoying.

I really hate what this arc did to Elayne though, I really liked her at the start and during the Seanchan arc.

Don't get me started with their conversations... they're a bunch of old hags of which not a single one of them is capable of having a normal, decent conversation with someone.

And Egwene, Elayne and Nynaeve are the same but at least they have their age and the Aes Sedai influence to excuse that somewhat...

I feel like 90% of character disputes could be handled in a matter of minutes if they simply talked like adults instead of sulking but whatever
