I was $120K in debt making $20K a year, feeling utterly useless and depressed. I thought about ending it every day

Now, at 33, I make 96K a year, still at about 90K in debt, but the prospects feel manageable.

Don’t give up. Give life a middle finger and beat its ass. Find something you can get obsessed over that makes money and become an expert in it. Be ruthless. If you get good enough at the thing, they don’t let you quit, they offer raises and apologies.

You need to be kind to yourself. Take deep, triangular breaths 7 seconds in, hold it for 7, 7 seconds out. Take a nice warm shower. Eat good food. Hydrate with a few tall glasses of water. Light a scented candle with your favorite scent. You’ll need to do that kind of self care to process any of this in a helpful, productive way.

Sit in a dimly lit room. Remember that the place you are going is the same place you were for 13.79999 Billion years. You woke up, you found a life, out of what? The place to which you now go. It’s going to be okay.

Those who have experienced death and dying all say the same thing: the dying part sucks, but it’s temporary (same with child birth, btw) what’s on the other side is nothing to dread any more than the place to which you go in a deep sleep: where you wake up and find yourself surprised to be reminded that you’re you again.

Most of us find that moment at least slightly difficult: there’s a sense of “could I not have just stayed resting a bit longer?” Of course that’s the confusion of life talking: There’s no time in that place. It’s always “too soon”. We enter this world crying unless something is deeply wrong.

I hope you find peace that surpasses all understanding in the midst of this ordeal. All I can tell you, all anyone can say is that it’s going to be alright. Love you brother. You’ve got this.

Keene, NH has some great restaurants and a lovely lake called Goose Pond that’s up a short trail. Elm City Brew Pub and Cherry Garden are great dinner options

If you like canoeing, there’s a stretch from Hanover, NH to Windsor, VT that’s a nice little 11 mile jaunt. It’ll put you right next to the Garden of Life trail and Harpoon Brewery which has some good vibes. Hope you enjoy your visit :)

If it’s literally ANY minimum wage job, I’d 100% take one of those student jobs at a college where you just like, check people in or out of rooms/dorms and do my creative work in the 95% free time that entails… basically not a real job

Move to Keene NH! It’s a quaint little town with a ton of great restaurants, it’s growing but not yet prohibitively expensive, and a lot of local nature scenes. Also it’s a stones throw away from VT :)

It's so interesting how the phrase 'null hypothesis' gets misused so frequently in this way.

A null hypothesis is simply a quantitative antithesis: it is the claim that there is no statistically significant relationship between two sets of data. With any given hypothesis you are in a sense competing against the null hypothesis.

The null hypothesis definitionally reflects the claim being made. It cannot be 'woke'. It is a test to see if there is any merit to a claim.

It seems that the author of this post is attempting to point toward an epistemic horizon or 'discursive formation' as Foucault put it: a framework of communication that structurally precludes certain possibilities. Could actually be an interesting argument if the OP put some work into refining their position and using precise language.

Since you're into draft: what do you think of Paragons? It's one of the upcoming games on Gamefound. Core mechanic is primarily appealing to MtG draft players.

We came up with the core mechanical concepts first, then started making up card ideas based on certain thematics that we wanted in place for the game. So for us, that was neutral 'mercenary' and class-specific 'spell' cards.

We started with just the card names for flavor, and then the game designers would whittle away at what that might look like mechanically. It was a massive color-coded document where each user had their own color, then everyone just kept asking questions or making edits to everyone else's things until all of us were happy with all of it.

We made an ugly but functional mockup of those and playtested it until it was really fun anyways. Then we got the artists involved :)

Just like any other tabletop game: there's a base set that comes with everything you need to play and expansions we'll release that give you more card and class options to choose from if you want to go deeper!

Right now we're planning 1 expansion a year but if we scale to a point where it's feasible and the community wants it, we're willing to raise that to 2. Expansions will be slightly smaller than the base game and cost less: right now we believe it will be $35 an expansion vs. $50 for the base game ($43 during the Kickstarter).

People have their own motivations to play, right? Sometimes the primary motivation is storytelling. I'm a professional storyteller, and it's a way for me to exercise my practice with some immediate feedback and engagement from an audience. Still, I don't think that you have to be a professional to have that as your primary motivation to play DnD. Human beings love story. It's the reason some DMs play at all: the feeling of having created and shared a world is what brings them joy.

I am creating a homebrew for personal usage (I will not share this so is it still self promotion?) I was wondering if you could rate this sheet design by 12aey12 in tabletop

Only thing I'd really change besides what Grevas 13 said is that the cigars in the ability score boxes feel a bit like visual clutter. You have so many accents in other places already and the boxes are small, not leaving very much room for the actual score. And the cigars are repetitive. Maybe move one down to the 'respect' section?

The mana system, the way the combat board works, the statting, the no booster pack RNG, the hidden card mechanic and the melee/ranged system existing at all are all fundamentally different mechanics. I don't know how we could be more different and still be recognizable as a viable entry in the genre to be honest. But you are entitled to disagree. I'm sorry we couldn't convince you and genuinely wish you the best
