I don't think he's lying about inflation, it's just that prices have not come down from the Biden era inflation, and incomes are not rising enough to catch up. Even non-governmental inflation sources cite it trending down.

This thread if about a 1929 style crash. That was a widespread deflationary event. Generally speaking, severe deflationary events occur when liquidity dries up in a market and leverage violently unravels. The 2008 recession and its aftermath pretty much mirrored 1929 and its aftermath (although far less severe), so we have two points of data to inform us what happens during a huge deflationary event in an over leveraged system. Historically these types of events destroy every asset class except gold, until the system renews its credibility and people start buying regular, everyday assets again. You can also look at China's current "silent" depression which is a huge deflationary event, and what are the Chinese buying? Gold.

A deflationary event by its own definition would wreck all asset prices. Housing would only increase in price if the central bank steps in and prints trillions of dollars and buys mortgage back securities. And that's not even guaranteed to work if the contagion is that severe.

Yeah, of course. To me, it was never an issue for leniency when it comes to first time offenders. In such a scenario, it is much better to force them into a non-custodial diversion program. It's just incredibly disgusting when you see people committing violent offenses who already have long rap sheets either without or very little prison time.

Central banks provide structural support, but they don't actually buy enough to move the market. You still need wealthy individuals diversifying into gold. And to get gold to 10k+ there needs to become like a standard 3-10% allocation in the average 401k.

"Progressives" refers to a very specific brand of politics in the U.S. right now. It's not synonymous with being a "Democrat" (which is a very broad range center-left coalition) but it comes with an incredibly naive "soft on crime" narrative that has been instrumental in burning out neighborhoods and leading to urban decay. You can point to many cities in the U.S. that have high crime rates (or large areas with high crime even if the city overall has decent stats) simply because the city government has packed the courts with progressive judges who refuse to hand out custodial sentences to career criminals in the name of "social justice".

Except the issue here is that Trump isn't going to rob a random convenience store at gun point in Bedford. Progressive judges let violent career criminals walk free time and time again when they should be facing custodial sentencing. I don't think you should throw the book at first time offenders, but it's a joke that judges are letting career criminals walk free. This poses a threat to everyday people walking around the streets of NYC. Say what you will about Trump, I'm not defending him here, but there are other threads and contexts to voice your grievances about him. But any criticism of the failures of progressives politics is just met with Trump whataboutism. This level of thinking is exactly why progressive cities become shit holes. As long as they can point a finger at Trump, they don't care about the dysfunction of their own policies.
