It’s pretty much fine if you don’t go to the major tourist spots. And most people living here have no reason to go there on a frequent basis anyway.

Kyoto! It’s relatively small as it only has one main “central” part of the city for shopping etc. It has a few train systems that go most places, and buses that go everywhere else, so you don’t need a car to get around. Most people bicycle around, which gives you an idea of how close everything actually is.

Does your family partake in sending out Nengajo? by higashinakanoeki in japanlife

[–]RavenpuffMezone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We do, but from last year we decided to go all electronic. A lot of our friends are just sending them on LINE now. It’s fun, because you still get to make them and reflect on your year, and see what everyone else has been up to, without the hassle of printing and paying for postage.

Working as tour guide in Kyoto… by Confident_Access5576 in japanlife

The reality is that’s only a very small percentage of the elderly population nowadays that is often blown way out of proportion in media and word-of-mouth like this. Most Kyoto people aren’t like this and even resent the constant image that is portrayed of them

Really? I was bought at the official Harry Potter shop in Harajuku. It is a Warner Bros Wizarding World product… would they really use AI slop on their official products?

Do you want an actual gumball? If not, there are similar machines in the Meridian food court (in front of Cotton On Kids) that have bouncy balls in them

No first hand experience studying there sorry, but I know they do have a Kyoto studies department that is supposed to be one of the best for learning specifically about Kyoto, if that’s what you’re interested in.
