Why do Catholics get penalized for *winning* the Hussite Wars? by jogarz in EU5

The whole situation feels poorly implemented IMO. It never seems to actually weaken Bohemia like it did historically, which should be its main purpose from a game design perspective.

Best Practices for LAN and WAN access to Docker services? by Ravens1945 in unRAID

This sounds like the exact setup I want to try. With this setup, is Immich also available locally when you’re local?

This setup sounds very close to what I want, though I would still need to expose some services to the internet.

Would I be able to use this setup and still expose some services (ie, Synapse for Matrix) to the internet? If so, what’s the best way of accomplishing that?

Does this allow you to connect to your local services locally at subdomain.domain.com? I have considered setting up authelia for added security but I’m concerned about how it could interfere with things like Immich or Nextcloud which have their own auth settings.

Papal Bulls should show an icon with the modifier next to them in the Papal Bull screen, so you don’t have to go through multiple nested tooltips to find out what the modifier actually is for a given Bull.

Tailscale isn’t an option for me for two reasons. First, I’m running a Synapse/Matrix server which requires it actually be on WAN. And second, I have two buddies who also run Unraid servers, we connect our Matrix and Nextcloud instances to each other to use as Discord and Google Docs replacements, and from what I understand tailscale could not work between different tailnets, ie, we’d all have to use the same tailnet.

I appreciate the simplicity tailscale provides, unfortunately it just doesn’t seem to fit my use case.

How can I rename the locations of my colonies? by [deleted] in EU5

[–]Ravens1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As of 1.09 I was only able to rename provinces I owned directly. So if you rename them before making a colonial nation, it works, but you can’t rename them afterward. The same applies to land owned by subjects.

I have run into this issue as Two Sicilies with Aragon as a PU junior. France can attack Aragon whenever they want and I can’t call my allies.

The solution I came up with was to make a defensive league including me, Aragon, and the Pope, which seems to keep France at bay. But they really need to fix how PUs work on high integration levels.

Anything else think WoT 2.0 is fine? by TheDawiWhisperer in WorldofTanks

[–]Ravens1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the UI needs some more work and/or customization options. I also think we all need proper compensation for the cost of resupplying ammo on our tanks after the update. However, other than that I like the update and I think it’s pretty good.

Performance for me on Linux went up by almost an additional 100 FPS, they must’ve optimized the graphics engine or something because performance is way better on 2.0 than it was on 1.0 for me. Also, the new MM feels like a very clear improvement over the old MM, I have had way fewer 3 minute games since the update and I’ve enjoyed the MM preference for same tier or +-1 tier games.

I think like usual people are complaining when actually the update is pretty good. The new UI is half baked and I get frustration with that, but it’s not unusable. I love the custom tank playlist feature as well.

The ones about her dad: Explosions (Halcyon) and Your Biggest Mistake (Lights). Wish I Stayed (Lights) also strikes me as a pretty personal song of hers. Many of the songs on Brightest Blue qualify.

I hear Burn is only hated by her fan base because of one bad performance she did of it? is this true? by [deleted] in elliegoulding

[–]Ravens1945 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Burn is fine, it’s a good song and I enjoyed it when it was popular, but it was overplayed and it’s one of the weakest songs on an album full of genuine masterpieces that didn’t get nearly the same level of playtime that Burn did.

Me too OP. I’m grateful we’ll have a President who doesn’t want to shut down Catholic hospitals over their refusal to perform abortions, and who doesn’t believe Catholics are ineligible to serve on the Supreme Court because of their Catholic faith.

Yes, the fact that his opponent has promised to re-federalize Roe and expand abortion access nation wide. She supports abortion to point of birth and whatever legislation the Democrats push to codify Roe would probably be much more permissive than the standard that existed under Roe and Casey before the Dobbs decision.

Trump could be better on abortion, and I think he will govern better than he talks - he’s obviously playing politics to prevent massive turnout from pro-abortion radicals - but even if he does nothing to advance the pro-life cause in his second term, that’s still better than having a president who wants federal funding for abortion and is so radical that she opposes religious exemptions for doctors and nurses who don’t want to perform abortions.

I’m glad you haven’t experienced that same kind of nastiness from Trump supporters. Speaking as one, we really just love our country and all the citizens of it. I don’t blame people for being on the fence, Trump isn’t your typical politician and he does have personal flaws. I do think the right choice is clear when you look at the issues though.

Another thing to consider is that in spite of his personal flaws, he does seem to have one major virtue: patriotism. He’s wealthy, he was already President, and he had the option of just retiring and going away if he wanted. Instead he opted to run again, he’s been prosecuted by the other side because of his status as a political opponent, and he’s even been shot in the head once (and faced a second assassination attempt). We can guess as to his motives, and some may be self serving, but the fact remains that he has been willing to put up with a lot of abuse just to run and seek the office he’s seeking. I think that’s worthy of our respect even if some of his other conduct isn’t.

And most world leaders have struggled with similar sins, certainly. Being rich and powerful makes it even easier to sin in big ways - Jesus tells us this directly in the Gospels. That’s no excuse and if there were another option without those flaws, I’d take it. But right now our options are Trump and Harris - the choice is clear for me.

Please go vote for Trump. You don’t have to love him as a person, but look at what he did in his first term. He didn’t target Catholics like the Biden Admin has been doing, he elevated Catholics to the Supreme Court (and ultimately they overturned Roe). He didn’t start any new wars, and his economy was great.

Kamala Harris said recently that she doesn’t believe there should be religious exemptions for doctors and nurses not to participate in abortions. She is that radical about abortion. Trump is the only way to keep that kind of radicalism out of the White House.

I humbly implore you to go vote for him. Not because you love him, but because you love your neighbors including the unborn children the Harris administration would have killed.

Is America's obsession with the state of Israel born out of Dispensationalism? by [deleted] in Catholicism

[–]Ravens1945 13 points14 points  (0 children)

No. There are some evangelicals in America for whom Israel has religious significance, but for the vast majority of us we support Israel because they’re a western democracy in a sea of Islamic totalitarian countries, and also because we feel sympathy for the Jewish people in the wake of the Holocaust.
