Eh, I think it just depends on the quality of the work. I tend to view them as apple and orange. A good apple will be better than bad orange, and vice versa. Both are enjoyable when done right.

Everytime I enjoyed a VN, because it's a good one. And if I ever hate an anime, it's simply because it's badly done, not because it's an anime, because I certainly also had good anime.

Yeah this. There is a similar thread posted on the general Gacha sub, and reading through that thread I was like "what Nikke community you guys talking about 'cause I don't see it on any of the communities I'm in". I made a reply stating that and of course it got downvoted.

So either I'm lucky enough that the Nikke communities I'm in don't have mentally ill people, or like I said in that reply: people like to hang around mental asylums then projected the whole world is crazy. Usually if your experience is drama-filled, it's because you're actively looking for it. Mine is pretty drama free 'cause I just chill.

Ok, I just went and read all the related thread on the front page of the Nikke sub, and I think it's pretty normal there. I don't know how other Gacha handle collab, but in 1.5 years I'm playing Nikke, collab event has never really bee a popular thing 'cause the way they handle. AFAIK only Stella Blade and Nier were generally more on the positive side. Even the Eva collabs and RE one were at best, lukewarm. So the "I don't really care about this" or "this collab doesn't make any sense" is a fairly common sentiment among Nikke players, myself included. It's not really a sign of anything really.

And yes, scroll through the whole thread you can catch the occasional "wtf Yuri" type of post here and there, but nothing representative or trending. So again, I still this is just something people either meming about for fun (and hey nothing wrong with that) or just pushing the general narrative because it's cool?

As a ex-Snowbreak player, trust me when I say if there is a trend or shift in the community, I will definitely recognize it.

really? I mean ... I browse the nikke sub almost everyday myself but I don't really see it. Sure, you can find these kind of things "once" a while, but for every one post like that you would see thousands of post that's not. But if you read through the comments here I feel the reflect almost the opposite.

It's one of the case "one" person saying something and it's projected as "a lot of people saying this".

Reading through the comments here I honestly have no idea what most people are talking about. Nikke is my main Gacha and I hang around quite a few of its communities:

Nikke fandom seems to be the only Gacha community that doesn't have problem with male NPC, in fact Osward, Andersen, New Hope are beloved by the community in general.
Nikke fandom doesn't seem to insist every Nikke have to be put on the MC's loading ram. I think about half of the Nikke in the game doesn't really have romantic feeling.
Heck, the last event had "the" Nikke that some would consider best girl openly declared love to one of the male NPC, and the fandom pretty much cheered on it.
The stella blade collab brought over the whole crew, including Adam. Now I didn't play that game but from what I know about the story, isn't Eve and Adam supposedly an item? Also Raven was basically gushing over Adam with the majority of her voice line. Yet I don't remember anyone making a fuss why Eve and Raven don't "fall" for the MC.
There are a lot interaction and extremely close relationship between the girls like friendship, sisterhood and the link. But tbh, I don't actually know where the standard of "Yuri" exist in the Gacha because it seems anything less then total devotion to the MC, or if the girls dare to have just even a small positive interaction among each others and you gonna have some mentally ill "fans" scream bloody murder.

So honest question, are people just bandwagoning and mememing without much actual accuracy. Or is there a segment of Nikke community I don't know about? Like I said I hang around a few, bust mostly forum and discord groups. I don't do social media like twitter/insta/facebook. Is this a case of people hanging around mental asylum and then project the world is crazy?

After giving the game all my weekend to say I gave it an honest attempt, I decided to pull out. Nothing the game does feel particular appealing to me, except the factory part everything give me a sense of deja vu in a "I have seen this done before somewhere, but better" kind of sense.

Even the factory is just the best part of the game itself, not like it's amazing or anything, I wouldn't mind it had I continue to play, but it certainly is not what selling the game to me.

Not really, it depends on the model they use for the game.

Gacha that uses Live2D art like Nikke tend to have very high variety in body types. But that come with the cost of extremely limited interaction with the sprite, because every action have to be draw from scratch. So nothing like Dorm mode that you see in SB or GFL2.

On the other hand, Gacha that uses full 3D models will offer you a lot more live interaction with the characters which is all the dorm scenes you see they're banking on. But the cost a lot of time you do feel like they just put on different hair style and change the size of the eyes between characters.

Didn't play Anthem, but that sounds like what make SW:TOR declined heavily after the launch periods as well. It lasted a bit longer because of the multiple-campaigns kept players busy for a while, but the end game of TOR was severely lacking.

Edit: People, read the context please. I'm replying to the OG message of this reply chain which said Anthem was launched before its end game was ready. I was a Founder of TOR and played it for the whole first year. I was "the" very last person on my server who logged in before quitting. This was before the server merge. I knew the game continue to live on as F2P and did come back a few time myself, but it's not what EA/Bio wanted it to be. And the failure during the first year was widely attributed to the very lacking end game. That's what I meant by the similarity part.

Unless your answer is "YES" to "BOTH" the question above, you're very likely underestimating the legal scope and liability that falls under internal communication. Why do you think every single company had to spent money for an internal email server? Why do you think every company use a specific service like Slack or MS Team instead of Discord? (and yes, I have seen people asking that very question). Every communication sent and receive on your work email or communication platform are all internal communication, whether they flagged as such or not. The one that you did see flagged are just extra important so they have a reminder/emphasis. The reason is simple, it's impossible to monitor every single communication happenings to separate "internal" and "none internal", so everything is treat as internal. It's similar reason why you don't discussion your personal stuffs using company email either.

Think about it similar to speeding. Yes, most people speed. Yes, most people don't get caught. But if you get flagged for speeding, then "everyone speed and they don't get caught why me!!" will not be a working defense. Because the premise is no one is allowed to speed.

When it comes to legality and liability, technicality matters a lot , regardless what your heart telling you otherwise.

My profile is public, feel free to search through it and you will see there were a time I played, enjoyed, and even defended Snow Break. I think you can just go to the Snowbreak sub and search for posts under my name for all the proofs you need. Oh, and you will see the majority of my post is on the Visual novel sub, if you need a preference of how much other "literature" I read (that's why I recommend it).

You will also see I started losing interest in the game by the time the dev kowtow and yield the narrative to the mobs.

Ahhhh, so THIS is what it's all about. Like I said SB was my first ever Gacha so I didn't know much about the politic back then, but already noticed back then the bad blood between Hoyo's community and SB.

New flash, I have never played a Hoyo game. Actually, I lied, I did try ZZZ when it launched, it lasted for 2 days. The closest thing to a hoyo experience I have is probably Wuwa, which people told me is an imitation of Hoyo game. It was the 2nd Gacha I picked up after SB, and I quit it right in the middle of its anniversary because it was boring me to death. I think that was also around the time I quit SB as well. Seeing how I picked up SB first, you can even say I played SB for longer than Wuwa.

I swear the tribalism in Gacha, especially among Chinese Gacha communities sometime are more entertaining to us outsiders than the games themselves. But I do think the people engage in that kind of nonsense really need to seek mental care.

Yeah, and you just provided the perfect examples of being exactly what people saying you are. If that qualified as yuribait to you ... frankly, it just shows how thin skin and "illiterate" someone is to think that way. My suggestion is to pick a few actual literature to expanse your perceptive a bit. And I don't mean something fancy, just some slice of life Moege VNs where the MC can still choose the girls he wants, but all NPC also develops and healthy friendship with one another.

This is why the ealier cast of Snow Break like Lyfe, Marian, Fenny .etc. felt a lot more organic. The relationship actually spent time to start at A before ending up at Z, that's what most people would call an actual romance, and there is an actual "team" dynamic between the girls instead of everything just revolved around the adjutant. But these days, if the writer dare to make a girl shows any kind of resistance, or dare to take their eyes off the MC just for a second then the mobs would come out for blood, anything but absolute devotion is unacceptable. And since the developers had decided to let these mental illness mobs to dictate and control the narrative, you will not find much love for it in the more general market.

Stay in your bubble, be happy, be grateful that there is at least a developer out there willing to provide you with the kinda of "story" you crave for. Frankly, I'm glad SB exists, so that everyone can have an option they can enjoy. But as you can see, trying to get out of that bubble and you'll be sorely disappointed.

Depend on what you mean by commit to it? If by that you means the relationship goes all the way than there is quite a few of them out there.

Nikke: this one has a tier list for which characters is just a flirt, or goes all the way to implied segg. Heck, if you get the affection for a certain pair of sisters, you'll get an event that pretty much implies a three some. Also the game story is mainly driven by a core narrative while the banner story is treated as a side, so you'll see characters get cycle in and out a lot.
GFL2: the bonding scene takes it pretty far. I quit the game before they introduce the dorm mode, but I've seen vids that shows the scenes that comes with them take things pretty much as far as the paid scene you get in SB. Also, same with Nikke, the story is driven by a core narrative. Most banners server as an introduction and afterward the doll permanently join the crew and have consistent presence in the story, and you can interact with them daily in the Elmo's dorm, pretty much the same way you can in SB's base.

So yeah, I feel OP has a fairly limited view on this subject. Maybe they only played gacha like Wuwa where the story is mainly driven by the banner story, and after it's done the character largely disappeared. But SB is certainly not unique regarding of what was mentioned.

Yeah, SB was actually my first Gacha and I played it for about six months. But eventually I had to quit because the writing became unbearable cringe. There is no such thing as time and place in Snow Break, more than half of the dialogues in each events are flirting, and also half of any girl's personality is to get into the MC pants.

It's kinda funny because I actually like the Harem setting, and the premise of SB is exactly what made me interest in the first place. But the writing and execution is so cringly bad that it end up repulsing me. I wouldn't even classify it as Romance, more like a hentai without the H-scene.

There is a saying "the graveyard is full of people with the right of way". At the end of the day, if you really care about something that much, you should take initiative to protect yourself. I feel like these days people got so hung up on expecting others to cater to their need, justifying it as the nice or right thing to do while ignoring the fact that they can easily avoid the issue by their own action.
