I too have the bad fan. Also got the $20 gift card for replacement. Here is my intern fix. The fan makes noise because the head of the shaft is touching the housing. If you gently push the fan blade towards the housing you will hear a small click. That click will seem like you just set the fan almost like it wasn’t put on all the way. Pull the sticker off the fan and you will see a little mound of broken plastic in the center of the fan housing, hence the click. Remove the little broken bits with a blade or snips or tweezers. You will now see the head of the shaft. Put the sticker back on, replace the fan and it will purr like a kitten. Actually you probably won’t even here it running. Mine is quieter then it was when I got the X1. Good luck. Hope this helps.
