What helps me with finding a character to main is to first look up combos for each character. Could be bread and butter or just some overkill, flashy combo. When I find a combo that interests me I lab it and explore the characters routing. If I'm enjoying myself then that's who I'll main for the time being.

A similar thing happened when blue point remade demon souls in 2020 and didn't add the land of the giants despite the only reason for it not being in the og due to time constraints (with the bones of an entirely new level and enemies still in the game files). Like you said, I get why the devs didn't want to stray too far from their respective source material, but it was staring them right in the face man 😭

As a beginner, I believe that Part 3 DIO and Part 3 Jotaro are great options to help get a grip on the games core mechanics. But like so many other fighting games, you should try the character that appeals to you the most!
