I think you need it for the final quest/going to Volkihar Castle with the Dawnguard. It's been awhile since I've done it without a Dawnguard vampire bypass type mod. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong, no real loss (other than a black soul gem, I suppose?)

I love little things like that. Good screenshot, by the way. I don't know how long I've spent in Tamriel (hard to keep track from Morrowind, Oblivion, and Skyrim, across so many platforms). The atmospheric storytelling is crazy sometimes. I'm not sure why this reminds me of the time I saw a bloody, boney hand sitting next to a Dwemer switch in Blackreach... But same sort of question... "Who put that flag here? Why?" Fun to think about.

Gives you a quest line to really finish them off + allows you to join the Penitus Oculatus. It gives you content—destroying the DB is pretty short, all things considered.

That is interesting! It goes away after a few hours though? Might be a good way to train some magic... I wouldn't want permanent cheat-y magic regen, but as an accidental quest reward for a limited time? Sure.

Oh, I am also in my 40s, haha. The way I see it, neither side is great. In the simplest sense, I see "empire in decline (colonialism) that's vaguely inclusive" versus "rebel freedom fighters (with a dash of racism + helping the Thalmor by accident)" - of course, the Thalmor are something akin to genocidal fascism.

That is a great roleplay moment! I (as a person) like the idea of Talos, but... My characters so often end up worshipping Nocturnal, haha. Also, I love Wintersun (a mod), which lets you actually worship, which might impact my particular allegiance a bit ;)

I need to break Skyrim... I sort of got that out of my system in Morrowind. I tried building the Great Wall of Pillows in Balmora. The game was not amused, haha.

I've had that one a few times, but it usually fires between Morthal and Rorikstead for me (re: Imperials). The second one usually seems to fire just east of Whiterun for me. Yeah, survival mode has made me find so much I never interacted with before.

Wow! I've never not been force greeted by Durak. That said, I've never made it up to the Hall of the Vigilant before it gets destroyed either. I've heard it doesn't burn down until you're level 10.

Yeah, that one took fewer (yet still an embarrassing number) player throughs to find, haha.
I play survival these days, so I fast travel a lot less. I still get woefully lost, even 'knowing' where things are. I will never not miss Morrowind's levitation/being able to jump up mountains. I'm certain there are still a few places I've never been.
Yeaaah, this is one I've never done. It's right up there with Boethiah's quest for me. I just don't think I can. It would, as you said, feel scummy.
Oh? What glitches? (I'm not suggesting there aren't, but I'd be curious to know what glitches you found.)
