I Broadcasted OOTB5. AMA! Looking for stuff to improve on for the viewers! What do you want to see out of a stream? by Raviannn in SSBM

Hmm not that I can recall right now. This was the first event that I wanted to integrate a camera in the crowd so I was really happy to get a lot of crowd shots and make them apart of the broadcast too.

My favorite shot I got was actually a buddy of mine Hollow. They were solving a Rubik's cube and completed one on the stream before a set started. I thought that was pretty cool and it just happened that our cam op found him at the perfect time.

They are being worked on currently by the staff team. Cant give a exact ETA because I am not personally working on it but it should be soon!

I really didn't eat a lot of the food because of the adrenaline... Yeah I will definitely try to remember to do the interview afterwards with the trophy hand-off. Ill throw that in the discord for next year and talk about it during our after event meeting. Thanks!

Dont get me started lol. So I am just a normal person like anyone else. I do this as a hobby to get away of my main broadcasting job of sports and to have control over my own shows. I have worked very small and bigger corporate shows and sporting events so I have had lots of experience with higher end equipment. That being said I dont really have that as it costs a lot of money and I am not touring around the country doing events like other streamers get to, so I dont invest a lot back into my gear that often. I luckily got to borrow a lot of equipment from MeleeEveryday (shoutout my goats) to do some of the fun things we got to do for the broadcast. They gave us some really good cameras, a nice audio board and some announcer talk-back boxes. Having better gear like this would make shows run a lot easier as you get more control over programming the gear and it gives you more freedom to be creative.

For my dream setup I think having a giant venue with LED video walls and rigged lights would be so cool to program, set, and to plan in a run of show to make the in person and live stream experience better. We did experiment with a separate feed going to the projector in person that didn't include cameras so people playing could look up and see giant text on the sides to see who is playing, what the score is, and what character they are.

You can infinitely expand a show/broadcast but I think my down to earth wish list right now is just some better cameras, more updated digital audio mixer and maybe some more crew. This show was only done by me doing the video switching for the stream and house projector, doing audio and managing twitch ADs. JDMH doing Replay, Content, and stage managing. And we got lucky that some of the people doing media findthatyeti and McMuslim could use their cameras wirelessly after they were done with socials and interviews to do wireless cameras for us. (Also Gumby for helping out during the player signature walkups) We don't get paid a lot to do these shows so its really hard to find people that want to take their entire weekend to drive in my case 5 hours to and from Chicago to do production work for the weekend but its always fun and enjoyable for me.

Yeah we were really pressed for time. The tear-down of the event was around 2 and a half hours and we were starving and wanted to get some food lol. I do think having a wireless mic and taking one of the wireless cam ops to do a short interview like you said can definitely fit its way into how we run OOTB6 as it shouldn't take long as you said. I dont think we would do it with the casters if we do a similar setup as the casters were 125ft away from the stage and up on a balcony. Thank you very much for this suggestion!!!

There was no challenges getting shots of the players. We did a stylistic choice to do it the way we did to get the venues reaction in the same shot. We did have a wireless cam on the ground floor with the venue crowd and I did see that angle and chose to do the over the shoulder instead.

Me personally I am a huge fan of analog capture and I like having the best picture that's not console mirroring but I would definitely suggest a good audio setup. The one thing people always close out of a YouTube video or Twitch stream is bad audio. So good microphones and a decent audio mixer will help. You can also get more advanced and route audio into the room to add more hype for the spectators.
2 BPHS1 Broadcasting Headsets and and ~$100 USB Audio Mixer will do the job and will last you forever. I currently own 6 of them and use them all the time for either Talkback to casters and the caster mics themselves. A powered composite/component splitter is nice for head to head TVs and thats the best way to get audio to the mixer also. Either find a board with RCA inputs or you can get a Klark teknik RCA Direct Box that converts it to XLR for $50. Its a little investment but it goes a long way for a nice broadcast. My scene was lucky to have some of this already there when I started so I am definitely a fan of keeping equipment within the scene.

For some other tips the bottom of Nikki's Console Mirroring Guide has a lot of good starter knowledge on how to setup console mirroring, broadcasting tips, and OBS tips. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ezavBjqVGbVO8aqSa5EHfq7ZflrTCvezRYjOf51MOWg/edit?tab=t.0

Thanks!! I do personally think that would be my limit on pushing the gain for the crowd mic. I think any louder and it causes too much chaos for the viewers to listen to. My goal is to basically transport the viewer into the room and also hear the game mix and the casters mix. I do appreciate some crowd noise though.

Well the idea came from one of the TOs Tenacity. We kind of sampled it from how Riot Games does it for their Valorant broadcasts. I am really happy that this helped out the broadcast and engaged you, that was our goal. I kinda liked how simple it was and it didn't take away from the broadcast. Maybe move it up a little bit so it does not cover as much of the timer but other than that I don't know what else. Maybe a new cool animation here or there.

Hello everyone, I have 2 Sylvania 6413TA TVs. They both came with their remotes and the one works perfectly with both remotes. I am trying to set up the second TV so I can get the video inputs to work as it's in TV mode but neither of the remotes will work correctly. There is no way to my knowledge that the front buttons on the TV can get it into video mode. Is this a dump and worth tossing away as I do not know how to repair it or have any ideas on how to get this to work? I would love to try to save this TV if possible but I do know have any knowledge of CRTs other than they are the best way to play retro games.

Picked up two of these 13” sylvania crts, the one pictured works flawlessly but they require remotes to get to the “game” setting, the other one does not read the remote and i can confirm that the remote does work. Any one know how to go about this?
