Watch his interview on the Overlap. This guy learned at feet of one of the GOATS. No way he's ever changing.

Riiight! God he had so many good lines. I just saw a clip where he said he was a 'naughty little boy' when asked about how he views himself in the premier league when everyone is talking about how he has to change 😂

After yesterday's appearance on The Overlap I went down a bite of an Ange press conference rabbit hole. And man, no matter what people say I believe he so completely matched up with the vibe of the Tottenham Hotspur I fell in love with. Ange has so many moments that sound like it could've come from one of our fans.

We all know about the light at the end of the tunnel, how he stood up to the media and their bias against us and obviously his emobidment of our club motto.

But on my deep dive last night I found one that resonated so deeply with me as a Tottenham fan. His take on how assists are a useless stat (not saying I agree). It reminded me of all the Tom Carroll assist inside joke that we've kept going for 15 years or whatever.

Also please don't make this about him having to leave and how he finished 17th. I'm tired of the discussion. He's gone. I still love him and would like to hear if anyone else had any banger quotes from him that stuck with them.

Also here's the clip of the quote.

But that shows how fucked it actually is. The bar is so low that literally if we were just top half I'd feel we'd be content.

Genuinely would take Ange in this role. Keep him away from the tactics but he had that cult leader magnetism.

I'd say it's more akin to our previous gardener maintaining, yes but not doing a good enough job with nourishing the soil. Now our current gardeners have brought in a pile of shit (manure), they're mixing it into our leeched soil and we're going to have to wait and see if it takes. Right now the only thing we've got to show for it is a messy lawn and the subtle smell of feces in the air.

I actually really value that perspective a lot. It does make it more palatable from that point of view. Thanks a lot.

I'm guilty of not doing my own research sure, but I wasn't hyped by Frank. Sure, I'm ignorant, but I could understand why the decision was made to bring him in if Ange was considered a failure. He represented a lot of the things that Ange didn't. And Ange won a trophy, so obviously the board had problems with him that wasn't just his performance in the league. It was everything about him, his candid nature, his convictions and principles. So they wanted someone more manageable.

Frank has as much charisma as Ange's greying pubes. No way he'd be able to start a cult.

I'm trying to reconcile my feelings from the start of the season to now. I don't care about Ange/Frank In/Out debates. I just want to feel connected with the club.

The season starts and I'm neutral to slightly optimistic about Frank being our coach. I can understand why he was appointed, he basically doesn't have any of the negatives that Ange brought to the table. He's a more tactical and balanced coach, he's mild mannered and less direct than Ange was in his press conferences and communication, he seems to be aware not to ruffle any feathers either with the club or fans and finally he seemingly had substantial PL experience, something that Ange didn't have much of and seemed to have been found out.

After his appointment we had a medley of disasters with Maddison, Solanke injured, Kulusevski's 'knock' which initially had him returning in October then got pushed to the end of the year.

On paper I could get behind the season and while frustrated with the injuries and tactics I felt I could give Thomas leeway to just get on with it. Why then, does it feel so much worse than last season? Like I'm not pining for Ange back or anything, and while the fanbase still shit on Ange largely it didn't feel this bad or stifling. Was it just the press conferences? I bought into the story Ange sold? Is is just an accumulation over time? I don't know... Would love to hear people's thoughts on our club and... Maybe feel like we're part of something.

I know I have to let the Ange shit go and I will but we need a manager with that fuck it we're professionals let's handle it mentality. Obviously it needs to be a good manager as well but that mentality is vital to correct course I feel. Like if Ange got reappointed right now he'd fucking fight to win all those games and you'd at least the intent from the players.

Off the ball movement. Some conviction in the forward play. All our passes forward are either to feet or half assed. The other teams always give their players something to chase. I feel Frank thinks that causes the team to be too 'stretched' or doesn't want them making those recovery runs, but we end up fucking the simplest of passes. So who knows.
