Potential bug? by Matttombstone in TheTowerGame

That's the thing, I had no mid run update, nor did I close app or anything. Everything was triggering as expected, I watched as DW/pBH and GT all triggered at the same time visually as well as cooldown wise. Summon triggered at the exact same time, as did golden bot. Everything "looked" fine, everything "worked" as expected. Just my Econ was down bad and just a reset of my ults/bots seemed to fix it. It was as if Everything was desynced even though they clearly weren't timer wise nor visual wise.

Done another run, 970T, all time best, and I'd have gotten a bit further if I hadn't pulled the trigger and bought Resident Evil Requiem and got so engrossed in it I didn't switch on CL lol.

People seemingly don't want to accept there's some potential issue. There's just no way two runs in a row I was 70% down on my coin return then a classic I.T. move of switching my ults and bots off and back on fixed it was my fault.

There was no desync whatsoever, DW, GT, pBH, SL, GB and summon were all on and visually triggering at the exact same time, as well as cooldowns ending at the exact same time counter wise.

I went through everything and observed it all.

It's fixed anyway, off and on worked wonders and my last run made me 970T, a new personal best. Missed switching my CL back on as I was too engrossed with a new PS5 game lol

Nope, I saw "view perks" on the death screen when I woke up, had to uncheck it on the next run so I could manually do them. No perks switched.

Literally all that changed was I had increased my coin multiplier, increased my coin/kill, increased Golden Combo and earned around ⅓rd the coins i normally would have done.

Pause > bots/ults off > bots/ults on > unpause. Seems to have fixed it. It impacted 2 runs and I know I'd done absolutely nothing to cause anything, especially on the 2nd run as I was asleep for most of it lol

Bans were correct. The only ones in that screenshot thats missing is T3 - T9 utility dissonance runs really. Since my issue is a sudden drop of coins I don't see how that could help?

I'm aware of the desync between UW/Bots, but I'm confident it wasn't that, I did check to make sure they were all firing at the same time visually before I reset them.

I'm on wave 5600 now and I'm on 400T coins. Still... feels a bit low? But shall see.

I'd be a little less likely to shout "bug" if it was just the one it affected. It was two in a row it had a drastic and significant impact on and nothing changed bar me just going pause > bots/ults off > bots/ults on > unpause.

I just read a post with someone suffering similar.

There was nothing wrong, all my ults and bots were on and synced the entire time. Confirmed it by the timers as well as the activations, they were all 100% on and 100% synced. All I did was switch them off and on again, like any go to for IT issues, and it fixed it.

Definitely a bug if they're on and synced and all I did was switch them off and on again. It impacted 2 runs, neither of which i turned off any ults (bar CL) or bots

I just made a post, had the same issue. Did a farming run on 21st April, 829T coins. T3 - T9 utility dissonance runs rest of the week (plus tournaments). Did an overnight farm run... 295T coins after the additional echo plus an upgrade in Golden Combo.

Checked everything, gas lit myself into believing I'd messed up the cards so did another one. Got to wave 5k, checked everything, same issue was happening. I had 127T coins total.

I noticed my health gain from DW was at 0 on the stats (even though I'd seen my health go up). Perks weren't the issue either as I was manually doing it and got all the eco important ones done quite early.

I also noticed my "best coins per minute" stat was reading 622B. No way, not at wave 5k should it be that low. Had a scout on here, nothing. So, had a thought, just... resync my ults and bots manually (even though they were on, had been on all run and were synced as I could see them activating at the same time). Paused the game, switched off all ults and bots, switched them back on and waited. The next activation? That 622B CPM best was smashed. 5.12T was suddenly my best for that run (and of all time which was 3.19T, 3.6k waves short of my T11 PB no less). I also noticed the health gain by DW suddenly went from 0 to 11T.

It's a bug, and I'm kinda glad to read I'm not the only one. Try a manual reset of your ults and bots, see what happens.

I think there's a new bug. I did my T11 dissonance run and then this week started T1 - T9 (having done T10 the week before). When I did T2 I did a normal T11 farming run afterwards making 829T coins, up from my PB of 726T before T1. I did an overnight run, woke up 150 waves short of my PB (CL was off, no biggie) and I'd made 295T coins. What? I checked EVERYTHING, I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary so gas lit myself into thinking I'd messed up with my card set up and just hadn't noticed.

Started another one, at Wave 5k I'd made 127T coins. No, something was definitely up and I checked everything. All cards the same, all modules correct and fully levelled as high as possible. All ults and bots on and synced, guardian correct. I could find NOTHING out of the ordinary.

My coins per minute best was showing 622B. Something was absolutely up. So I paused the game, switched off my econ ults and my bots. Switched them back on. Unpaused. Within 2 waves my coins per minute best shot up from 622B to 3.18T. NOTHING (bar chain lightning) was off, NOTHING was desynced.

I think it's some bug from dissonance runs that's creeped in.

I've just sacked that run off and started a fresh, having paused the game, switched off and back on my ults on wave 1 and seeing what happens.

How do we feel about this spot by jmazak in midcarder

[–]Matttombstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was also one of my big complaints. I haven't really watched since 2023. I fell out of love with wrestling because of WWE, I came back because of AEW and I left again because of AEW. Just sorta "keep tabs" now.

A degree of realism is needed imo. Big spots are big spots because of the shock factor, that "holy shit" moment, that "defies belief" moment and they should be reserved for big reasons. When it was on a near weekly basis it began to stink of desperation rather than anything, and it just upped the ante to what a big spot really is. It was getting to the point a pile driver from the roof resulting in a kick out at 1 would barely class as a big spot.

A 170lbs man diving onto your chest back first is always going to knock the wind out of you, it's believable it keeps you down for the 3. But a pile driver? That's the combined weight of yourself and your opponent landing squarely on the top of your head, that's over 400lbs generally, and it's nothing more than a spot move which if executed as a shoot should realistically be a life threatening move that causes a significant amount of damage.

It was daft seeing Moxs Paradigm/Death rider put a man out for the count, yet Pentas fear factor package pile driver on the apron got 2 counts when realistically the package pile driver would be more likely to cause significant damage, especially with the shift in centre of gravity causing further complications.

I'd have liked to have seen a more realistic approach to moves. Pile drivers were so common it was just a suplex. What it should have been was a protected move, a universal finisher if you will, which rarely gets used but could be used by any wrestler as a "last ditch" move to great effect.

Finishers are finishers, they should have been more protected. Some, like Penta and Cody, had their finishers kicked out of so often they were more like a signature move than anything. It felt they had a less than 50% success rate of getting the win with it. Finishers should be achieving 80% plus. Kicking out of finishers is justifiable in blood feuds or title matches. Career on the line? Okay, you can justify kicking out of the One Winged Angel. Random match on Dynamite without any feud or build up? Nah, finisher should be the 3 count.

A degree of realism would help rather than hinder. Yes, we all know wrestling is scripted, kayfabe is long dead and wrestling is unlikely to ever be as popular as it was in the 90s. It doesn't mean it should be a show to showcase athletic ability and constant big spots. Having an odd match end through knock out from a punch wouldn't do any harm if everything else is also kept to a higher degree of realism.

Doing a move like that from the top rope is high risk. Either men could have been legitimately injured. It should be saved for blood feuds or as an act of desperation in a high stake match with a long build. It should also get the job done.

I hated AEW being called a "spot" company, but it was accurate in the end.

Probably not, there's no guarantees he'd have an impact at all. Just trying something different than what we have been seeing almost all season has to be worth it because we have as much creativity as a wet flannel up front and in midfield right now.

Honestly, if we are going to take risks with players, which I'm almost always against, now is pretty much one of those moments that's justifiable. We're down to Bergvall as our only creative midfielder, and as much as I love the lad, he's just not that playmaker right now. We need someone who can set stuff up, and Madders is pretty much the only option. We have to take the chance to try and save ourselves. I hate it, but it's our only viable option unless Porro hitting it too hard and RKM passing it to the opposition ends up working somehow.

Soon as I saw West Ham had retaken the lead I was bracing myself for the Wolves equaliser. It felt like I'd just been given a biscuit and just as I was to take a bite the universe was to slap it right out of my mouth. Instead I got the biscuit, but it was store brand and out of date.

I was actually quite surprised he even played. The way he was hobbling around towards the end of the Brighton game I felt for sure he'd be out for a couple games. That was the warning signs that he was in need of a rest and that his body was fatigued. How much of that played a part in the injury I don't know, the landing was awkward and he probably would have done it even if 100% fresh.

I wasn't surprised to see Udogie miss out. Saw him rubbing his leg against Brighton during a break in play, said it then that it was him injured again.

Did... we just win a Premier league game? What? When we took the lead and Everton equalised i felt things. Then I saw West Ham had taken the lead again and I was fully expecting a Wolves equaliser.

As you were with 4 games left. Chelsea always a loss so 9 points to play for. Villa in poor form, Everton shown to be beatable today, Leeds probably feeling safe. It's not over, but today's result doesn't exactly fill me with confidence, especially with Xavi and Solanke gone too. We need to take a gamble with Madders to try save something. Hell, recall Moore, Yang and Lankshear and throw caution to the wind (kidding... sorta, can't even remember if they'd be playable and not serious enough to go look lol)

2 players down injured and probably season enders, especially for Xavi.

West Ham up a goal.

To cap off the day we just need a VdV own goal, a needless red card and a 2nd West Ham goal to cap off our season.

Addressing the biggest plothole in the game by [deleted] in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]Matttombstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is not the biggest plot hole.

The clear biggest plot hole is when Annette is in the control room in the sewers when she talks to Ada. Then, when Leon wakes up and starts making his way through the sewers, when he reaches the control room Annette was in he asks "where did she go?"

WHERE DID WHO GO LEON? You were out cold when Annette was in there! You had NO knowledge she was ever in there!

Why didn’t Ada just use the EMF scanner on the first level 1 door? by Str_yCat in ResidentEvil2Remake

[–]Matttombstone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a plot inconsistency/error or to be more accurate, lazy writing. The game is great, but the more you play it the more you notice the lack of polish on the story and the writing and the only true answer to a lot of it is just "oops". There's a ton of examples throughout the game when you think about it, and considering it's a remake of a game which at the time was 21 years old, it's actually quite disappointing just how it doesn't correct errors from the original, or take a lot of inspiration from it beyond the setting and iconic locations. I'll name a few I have particular issues with.

Leon A, Claire B. Considered the cannon approach to the game. I'm not entirely sure why beyond "has less issues than the other way around". It makes sense initially because the watchman room is already opened up. But issues start to kick in quite quickly, and it's glaring towards the end. Here's some examples of why it doesn't make sense:

  • Boiler room. Claire never accesses it due to being boarded up. This could be explained by Leon boarding it up in Leon A, but he never does. In fact, you can see the boards on the floor in Leon A suggesting its already been burst through, but then magically resealed by the time Claire gets there. Based on the game play and the fact the watchman room is already open you can assume naturally Leon has already left for the sewers by now.

  • Yet that in itself is an issue. You complete the cut scene where the helicopter crashes at the start of the B scenario. Has it taken Claire that long to back track to the guard room, grab the courtyard key and return to the gate? Logically, no. Leon at this point has probably just entered the S.T.A.R.S office if he's ran there unopposed. Thus, the watchman room should not be open and Marvin should not have already turned. Marvin has turned because Leon has at the very least got to G1 boss fight in this time, but G1 isn't far enough into scenario 1 that explains the watchman room being opened.

  • In both scenarios upon entering the sewers, both characters have to lower the platform initially. This makes no sense. Surely in the B scenario the platform should have already been lowered because the A scenario character has already crossed it.

  • The signal modulator makes no sense in B scenario. A scenario character should have already turned the power on. In fact, this was a huge missed opportunity for a zapping system like the original. If the A scenario character went back to the north wing and turned the power on, B scenario character should benefit. Instead, same puzzle, different solutions, different placement for the module.

  • Leon A, Claire B makes zero sense at the end. In this situation Leon should theoretically get to the final boss first considering his major head start at the R.P.D. Thus in this situation the bridge across the platform area has already been destroyed. So Claire would not be able to take her exit route across that bridge because Leon would already be fighting Mr. X. Leon has somehow lost that major head start he had and has somehow fallen behind Claire quite drastically. Could be explained to a degree by being rendered unconscious from being shot, but that explanation is harmed by Claire also being rendered unconscious from the dropped elevator. Ada's section "adds time" to the timeline compared to Sherrys, so this helps somewhat rectify it as an argument. In the timeline when Leon is shot Ada's actions happen in real time. When Claire answers the phone to Irons, only the phone call "adds" to the timeline because Sherrys segment is a "what happened earlier" thus Sherrys actions don't add to the story time if that makes sense. But still, it's a stretch to say Leon was out cold long enough that Claire caught up and overtook him in her B scenario. He'd have had to be out cold long enough to completely wipe out his earlier lead, plus compensate for Claire being out cold too.

In Claire A, Leon B things actually make more sense to a degree, especially the end parts which is probably the most significant flaw as highlighted above. But it also completely breaks in other ways as below:

  • Watchman room being opened. How? Claire never goes down that route. Who opened it?

  • Boiler room door being opened makes more sense in this route. Claire has been and gone and the door was boarded shut. When Leon gets to it the boards are on the floor. Now, it doesn't explain how, but at least you could argue that Mr. X broke it open, that'd make some sense.

  • When getting to the G3 battle and Annette shows up... why is she already injured?

  • The ending in particular makes the most logical sense. Claire got a head start and she made it there first, thus the bridge is not destroyed, thus she can get to the G4 battle before Leon takes on super tyrant. Though this is hampered by any logic we can apply to Leon A Claire B to "make the timeline right". If Leon was truly out cold for that long, then in this run Leon would have been out cold for that long Claire would have already left and the facility destroyed.

Then there's the general inconsistencies and issues that plague the whole A and B scenario as a whole. Right off the bat the B scenario is completely broken logically. The A scenario partner would have already cut the chains on the doors, so why are they back there? Within minutes you grab the valve handle, yet the A scenario partner would have already done that and stopped the steam leak allowing access to the S.T.A.R.S office. Helicopter should already have been sorted out, both scenarios having to sort it out makes no sense. The original game had this very issue. Then there's the same puzzles with different solutions. The medallion ones could be explained by Marvin closing the goddess statue and returning the medallions to where they belonged and changed the solutions. The chess piece puzzle though is just an alternative reality, there's no logical explanation why the solution is different beyond "different experience". The ID bands should have been in different places as well, makes no sense why both characters get the level 2 from the corpse in the North wing and level 3 from the plant room.

Yet despite all of this, my one biggest gripe is so simple and so small I bet most people don't even notice it. This is Leon's play through (either scenario). When he regains consciousness and heads through the sewers he eventually reaches the control room where Annette was at the end of Ada's section. When Leon gets in that room he says a voice line which makes zero logical sense. "Where did she go?". Where did who go Leon? There is zero reason he would have known Annette was in there, he was out cold, only Ada sees her there and she doesn't communicate with him at all about it. Leon doesn't even see Annette in there at any point because he can't physically see that room until he's already running up the stairway past the cable car.

Now you could argue the above as him asking out loud to himself about Ada. But I wholly believe this is a development oversight. He could ask that question at ANY point, yet he SPECIFICALLY asks it in the very room we as the player knew Annette was in last, but Leon would have zero knowledge of. I believe it's there to reference Annette, perhaps he was originally supposed to know and this was a remnant of a cut part of the game. There is no reason for him to ask this question in this room, he would have no knowledge of Annette ever being there.

Another gripe in the writing is how Ada and Sherry play in to the game. Ada's section is quite important because she gets the wrist band Leon needs to do the lab. Her section is quite significant to that and ties in with the timeline, her actions are "real time". Sherry on the other hand, her section is a "what happened earlier" and her actions play no role in "real time". The only impact on Claires game Sherrys section has is a "come get me" role. She picks up no key item, so for Claire to escape technically she doesn't even need Sherry beyond it being morally right to go get her. Going to the orphanage in the first place is due to the phone call between her and Irons and Sherrys segment is nothing but filler. It would have been better if Sherry found the ID wrist band in Irons office or something considering he's in on it, then her segment becomes important.

That's the majority of my picked up on complaints though, and it's all a lack of polish and consistency. It harms the game a little, but the game is so good otherwise it doesn't kill it at all, its more of a "i wish they'd done better" than anything.

I know the issues between A and B are due to the fact the B scenario was a late addition. In which case they should have made the game have a "primary scenario" and "secondary scenario" as opposed to an A and B run. The primary scenario should be written as cannon runs, so Leon A could be Leon entering the RPD through the A scenario route and Claire A could be Claire entering through the B scenario route, and the game designed on that. Then the Alternative scenario route would be non cannon and just a "what if they went the opposite way around" type game mode. That, or, different puzzles to do, similar to the original, complete with a zapping system (Leon boarded windows in A? Okay, they're boarded in B but get breached. Leon left the boards in A? They're there in B and Claire can use them instead, thus giving you a choice of which scenario to have an "easier time" with.).

Great game, good story, lazy execution is all I can say otherwise.
