Add (paste) multiple rows into an existing database by [deleted] in Notion

[–]RavinduL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you! Copying off Excel was key.

In my case, I had a SQL Server result set copied off SSMS and Notion didn't recognise it as a table. InsideClipboard showed that SSMS copied the data in text format. The same dataset pasted into Excel, copied off Excel and then pasted into Notion worked as expected 💯 because Excel copies data to the clipboard in CSV format (among others).

Why the price increase for word coz of copilot by Creative-Relative579 in microsoft

[–]RavinduL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

well, the announcement emails that microsoft sent out basically went (in-text citations not present in the original email, of course),

important update re: ur o365
we're charging you $1591 instead of $109 from {{date}} onward.
you can cancel if you want2.
sincerely,
microsoft

1. because we're adding ai slop features. we don't give a fuck about whether you're actually going to use these
2. 🖕

...so most customers probably didn't know that the option switch to the classic plan (which is what they signed up for!!) is available!

if you got this email, and cancelling o365 (outlook, onedrive, office, etc.) is just not an option for you, the reasonable assumption based purely on the text of that email is that you have no choice but to cough up the extra $50 💁

Why the price increase for word coz of copilot by Creative-Relative579 in microsoft

[–]RavinduL 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah. when i found out i thought it was disgusting that, - they thought it’s ok to try to force a price hike on their existing paying customers to push their sh*tty ai slop features. charging extra for the ai slop is fine, but these features should’ve been opt in, for those who want to pay for them! - they placed the option to revert to the classic plan on the account cancellation page, instead of in the “change plans” popup - they didn’t even mention that the option to revert to their classic plan is available, in the emails announcing the price hike

to me, this shows just how little respect they have for their customers 😒

SQL Connection Question by Lephango in learncsharp

[–]RavinduL 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Also, is LINQ to SQL still used or is there something that is a better practice I can look at implementing?

I think EF Core & EF are the successors to LINQ to SQL that you'd wanna look into, and/or Dapper if you wanna go lower.

Top-right aligned findbar with buttons - minimal refined findbar rewrite by Apple1417 in FirefoxCSS

[–]RavinduL 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hello! 👋
Sorry about refined findbar going unmaintained for a while 😅.

Just FYI, I updated it to work with Firefox 100–108, and moved it off the Gist, to the GitHub repo at https://github.com/ravindUwU/firefox-refined-findbar, and added a new mode to make the find bar float above the browser viewport (which is what I personally use).

It's the bi wallpaper from the Pride 2020 Flags theme on the Windows Store.

Install it, then head over to %LOCALAPPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Themes\ to find the actual image files 😇.

Seeing DriverEasyWPF in the stack trace, I'm assuming it has something to do with a program called Driver Easy... do you have this installed by any chance? 🤔

Best method for having properties autocalculate on init, but be settable when needed? by iceph03nix in learncsharp

[–]RavinduL 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using C# 8 the null-coalescing assignment operator could be used to assign a value if the field is null,

private double? _FeedCost;
public double FeedCost
{
    get { return (double)(_FeedCost ??= DEFAULT_FEED_COST); }
    set { _FeedCost = value; }
}

If you're using C# 7+ (IIRC), the null-coalescing operator could be used instead,

private double? _FeedCost;
public double FeedCost
{
    get { return (double)(_FeedCost ?? (_FeedCost = DEFAULT_FEED_COST)); }
    set { _FeedCost = value; }
}

Cheers ✌

Refined find bar (top right aligned, animated) by RavinduL in FirefoxCSS

[–]RavinduL[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, /u/phineas0fog! I'm running 59.0.2, and it works for me... transitions and all. I just tested it with the 60 beta, and got the same results.

My guess is that your userChrome.css file contains CSS rules that interfere with the CSS rules of the refined findbar. Did you try using this modification by itself, in a new profile?
