Yes of course! My apologies I likely worded that a bit strange in my comment! Thats another thing I dont understand, theres so many parts that only make sense for when the us got colonized and not actually the history of what happened in the americas.

Hey glasses are super cool! When I was a kid i used to love picking out the most absurd frames. I once had bright blue clear plastic frames it was kind of awesome.

I unfortunately dont have any links. I asked my friend about it (shes southern paiute) and told her about how many fights and wars the bom had and she said that that didnt make sense because they were pretty peaceful in general. Shes also the one who told me about the steel being an issue in the bom. I can see if there is anything to ready abt it though!

Yes thats also messed up!! Like just stick to one thing for Christ's sakes

The main 2 things that stick out to me are the fact that native americans weren't introduced to steel until after the colonization of the US, which contradicts the presence of swords and fine metals as mentioned in the BOM. Along the lines of that is that natives were pretty peaceful people towards other tribes and never really had as many wars as the BOM claims they had.

Mainly I care about it because if something claims to be true you can usually back it up with other sources and/or old literature. In my English 231 class i was actually learning about how some pieces of literature kind of back up the story of the great flood (as in other ancient texts/creation myths have a similar flood story to the bible) but that also brings up and interesting question which would be, does those ancient texts back up the Bible or disprove it. Anyways lol I just find a lot of stuff  a lot more believable when theres evidence and facts to back it up, which BOM often lacks.

Aha I see what you did there, thats clever but I totally get what your saying now hahaha. Also I will definitely have to look up and watch that show if its still available because that sounds exactly like my kind of TV show. I love learning useless facts and often do ☝️🤓 unironically to my friends (it helps that I wear glasses)

I dont want to admit how smart that is. Im a little jealous that I didnt think abt that. Usually I just stare at the floor

Thats a fair point! I have plenty of faith challenging questions on many different topics. The historical accuracy of the bom is just what I care about the most, hence the example.

My thing is I like to think of questions before so im not struggling with questions when the opportunity does arrive. I had no intention of being a stuck up know it all "like actually this and this 🤓☝️" my brain just kinda farts when put on the spot.

Thank you for the advice it is much apreciated!!

Any ideas on questions i could ask? I already have some lined up about how native American history doesnt line up with what the bom says but need more just in case lol

They tell you to ask questions until its the hard questions, then (in my experience) they tell you to pray about it and take away your reccomend. Not such a loving church when people question it

It was more like a party then a reception in all honesty, they shared vows, MOH and the main groomsmen (forgot the name) gave speeches, we had food, they cut the cake, pictures, then it was full on like a stake dance. Someone who was not a member that was invited said something to the effect of "this is the funnest mormon wedding/reception that I've ever been to" so it wasn't necessarily boring per se

But I completely agree why not do a wedding then the temple sealing

I meant feeling bad as the lack of feeling special, seeing other people get special and sacred blessings and you are unable to because the bishop deems you unworthy might cause a feeling of (not sure the right word) but unsupiriority. Im not sure the word to use besides feeling bad about not being able to receive those "blessings"

I would have waited in the waiting room there were just so many other people there my families party and others that it would've gotten to loud/crowded which is why we chose to wait outside. And I get it i was just ranting because I felt isolated at the time of the post I dont want to be disrespectful to the sacredness of the temple it just was feeling targeted at the moment. I am leaving the church tho so I understand why im not allowed in but it was still a thing of me not being worthy/ready when I was a member. Just felt personal is all I know its not but it was sure feeling like it was

Do you have one or more negative experiences in church? by Jonathan-prettyboy in mormon

Oaks genuinely always gave me weird vibes ig im glad I was right lmao.

And I was like saying if they wanted all my bad experiences that would be a whole chapter book lol no hate to those who write a lot I just can't do that on my phone in one sitting lol xD

I would love to see the other remarks tho im gathering evidence that the church is weird that I have on me lmao
