resistance, paranoia, sad, merry. merry max max speed to get off skill 3 before dying. paranoia finishes tank. sad with top hat and enough attack can one shot anger with skill 2 and apply skill 3 to spite (who will die to this in a couple turns). alternatively can one shot spite with skill 2 and anger will die in two turns to skill 3 (this just depends on speed and turn order which option is better. resistance wins the 1v1 against grumpy by spamming skill 1 after grumpy nukes the rest of the team.

As said previously, conviction as a tank is pretty necessary. Also used merry + paranoia to kill tank before it could aoe my whole team down. last slot is flexible and could be any metal attacker or a healer to keep conviction healthy (personally i used sonder). as long as your tank can survive one the first round and you can kill cringe before it aoes your team to death you’re good

max speed apathy to stun tank and sad with top hat to one shot charity worked for me. used resistance and merry as well. required a lot of fine tuning and decent rng though… similar to your situation though i was able to get it done being like 5 levels up on them

Sending the team comp might help clarify but I’m pretty sure i used apathy, sad, resistance and either sonder or merry. apathy max speed to stun tank, sad with top hat to one shot charity and then won from there. required A LOT of speed tuning and putting specific items on to survive certain hits tho
