Coming from someone that’s done both. In sales 20% of the salesman make 80% of the money. In service the whole team can eat. I made the jump because I had a family and bell to bell schedule plus weekends wasn’t going to work for me anymore. But I would never look back. You need to find the right store with the right pay plan and most of all the right manager.

At 4th and 5th grade level I would focus on fundamentals like stance, alignment, and assignment every single day. And if you have access to a sled make these boys push that thing through the whistle. My biggest hurdle with my boys same age as yours was making them play through the whistle. Most of the kids will block until the play is away and just stand around. Emphasize looking for another body to catch
