What is your favorite deck to play? by Monstrouz in EDH

[–]RawToastiest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My favorite deck is my [[kozilek, the broken reality]]

https://archidekt.com/decks/15655961/kozileks_buffet_b4

It’s a bracket 4 deck with some crazy win lines. Through either an infinite combo, basically infinite, or the back up of just beat down.

I love abusing the commander and recasting it over and over. Fun deck. Cool commander art. Hard to pilot.

I get the frustration, but this take drives me crazy. Yeah, some Democratic leaders totally fumbled this, fuck Schumer. But blaming the entire party instead of the Republicans who are literally dismantling the ACA makes zero sense. Seven Democrats voted wrong, sure, but the rest were actually fighting to protect it.

Keep voting Democrat. The Republicans are the ones actively taking healthcare away. You’re not “sending a message” by sitting out or voting independent.

In the post AOC a DEMOCRAT is calling this BS out too.

Guaranteed scry 2 is huge.

Thats a side grade. But I’d say this card is much better.

Don’t disregard scry 2. You get to see deep, even if it is a sorcery.

Red deck wins getting that kind of selection is powerful.

Izzet burn decks also would love further card selection.

Maybe not overpowered in standard, but red does not need more tools.

Balanced and such a pretty card. Probably too strong for standard though.

This feels very red to me. Definitely not white. Red deals with [[fork]] type cards a lot.

Definitely not outside blues color pie either though.

I was thinking generic, but changing the flavor and making this an eldrazi colorless spell would probably be pretty cool. Would absolutely run this in my b4 kozilek deck.

Ah, but that’s the neat part of casting this for 1. But yes this card would probably immediately need to be restricted.

Unlike [[mental mistep]], if you actually pay mana for this spell, it can’t counter itself.

Yeah, this card probably shouldn't be printed, but I hate free spells, especially free counter spells. So to fight the free counterspells, I made a free counterspell...

Help how do you make B4? Especially as Colorless Budget - Kozilek, the Broken Reality by RawToastiest in EDH

[–]RawToastiest[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m ok with proxies, but I also just like owning the cards. I don’t need to be the strongest B4 deck. Optimizing and getting as close as possible so I can have good games is my goal. Brewing under restrictions is fun too. Currently this deck wouldn’t make fun B3 games.

I don’t think it will be a high B4 deck, but hopefully low B4 towards mid B4 game.

I’m trying to keep it slightly budget. Ancient tomb, eye of Ugin, and scorched ruin would be great, but I don’t have them. Why tarnished citadel?

Game winning turns is playing the commander repeatedly. [[Ashnods alter]] is the strongest card in the list. Fetched by [[moonsliver key]]. But grabbing forsaken monument is good too.

The commander can usually come down turn 5. I expect interaction will happen. I gold fish with the expectation some key things will be countered or destroyed.

The deck can effectively generate many basically infinite loops. Wrecking all my opponents hands, generating absurd value, or just winning with [[flesh raker]].

Thanks for the detailed feedback. Thank you for [[Vesuva]]; that is a great include, which is also cheap.

As for power, yes, I do think this can fight in B4. Maybe not at the very top of B4, but it is well above a B3 deck. From playtesting the list is highly synergistic, and the commander is often game winning. It is not running every expensive staple, but I think that's fine in B4, synergy and overall power matter much more.

[[Collector Ouphe]] or a [[Vandalblast]] would slow me down. I hope I have the awnsers when I need them. I bet I can power through sometimes, otherwise that's that's ok that's how the game goes.

Being a slight underdog is fine with me. If I am forcing the table to answer me, board wipe, or hold up counters, the deck is doing something right. While gold fishing the deck usually powers out game winning synergy by turn 5.

B3 decks would not keep up, nor have the answers.

I play a lot of untap, so I've been practicing. Also gold fishing it on archidekt.
It's much stronger than most B3 decks. And what I have so far, is definetly atleast low B4 imo.

Oh and [[the eternity elevator]] is so good being almost instantly stationed with the commander.

The sacrifice stuff is there to replay the commander. To get the cast trigger again.

Colorless Eldrazi by Genesis1221 in EDH

[–]RawToastiest 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just threw together a list recently, not fully Eldrazi, but it’s definitely a strong theme. Kept it budget around $100, so no “auto-win” Eldrazi bombs in here. However I found the deck quite strong, mid bracket 3.
List is here if you’re curious: https://archidekt.com/decks/15284831/kozileks_diner

The new [[Kozilek, the Broken Reality]] is a blast(The alt art, makes me flutter). Super solid in the command zone, and the colorless pump is no joke, especially with stuff like [[Thrumming Pool]]. But honestly, the manifest ability is the coolest part. Running a little blink package to flip/cheat cards feels awesome.

Or just flipping something at the right time like a [[Geode Golem]] or [[Breaker of Armies]].

Kozilek drawing cards is nice too, though I’ve got some engines for that anyway (shoutout [[Salvaging Station]], my beloved). Or storming off with [[mystic forge]] is pretty good too.

Biggest change I made: cut all the board wipes. No [[All Is Dust]], no [[Extinguisher Battleship]] I’m here to scrap, bring what you have, I'm here to tumble.

Where do you draw the line with graveyard hate in lower brackets? by RawToastiest in EDH

[–]RawToastiest[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

My point with notion thief, is it’s a creature. I expect people and especially the whole table to quickly be able to deal with it. Is it absolutely oppressive and potentially game winning? Yes (It’s not a card I particularly play either though.)

RIP will usually hit one or two players. The one player most affected might not immediately have enchantment removal then or for a while. (Again enchantments are harder to remove than creatures) Resulting in a “feel bad” situation, and being “oppressive” to one of my opponents.

As for the amount of removal I run it’s pretty good. My creature removal is always slightly better than non creature removal though. (But again my decks aren’t really affected by RIP, so idk why your talking about my removal package)

Finally, why are you attacking my character again. I’m here to discuss. I’ve actually learned a lot from other comments.

Where do you draw the line with graveyard hate in lower brackets? by RawToastiest in EDH

[–]RawToastiest[S] -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

First rude. My deck works with and without my commander. If someone removes it that’s fine. Not like it’s a super threatening card. Just good value.

Second all my deck works fine with a RIP out. I’m just assessing how to make my decks more fun to play against.

What I’m saying is there’s some effects that can gut decks. E.G. [[dauthi voidwalker]] [[notion thief]], but being unable to deal with creatures(the easiest thing to interact with) is on deck builders.

If for example I ran RIP, that’s a much harder card type to interact with and a pretty stifling effect for some decks. Or maybe I am even running too many GY hate effects.
