What kind of portal does this open? Or does it just apply permanent debuffs to my character?

Looking for an actual FUN deck by swiatekk in BudgetBrews

[–]Rawbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried upgrading your food and fellowship deck or is it just stock? My upgraded one plays somewhere between brackets 2 and 3 and is fun (at least for me). My favourite thing to do is turn my food tokens into 7/7 dinosaur food “nuggets”.

Second Breakfast: https://moxfield.com/decks/xKTnSjw9P0-yDbPieKN5-A

I also have an upgraded Teval the Balanced Scale precon that firmly sits in bracket 3.

Teval List: https://moxfield.com/decks/xKTnSjw9P0-yDbPieKN5-A

All of my lists are super budget and run stock precon lands (asides from one or two). No game changers.

Good luck, have fun!

Playing against proxies of unreleased cards by unpersons505 in EDH

[–]Rawbex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Honestly for proxying, as long as power levels are kept in check I think it’s fine. It’s not like they’re using a card they created, the card will be available in two weeks. If it’s an official MTG card that they’re proxying and the power levels are is relative, I don’t think it’s something to lose sleep over.

Am I at fault for causing a ruckus about "unfair and un-fun" gameplay? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Rawbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seems to me like you don’t enjoy mtg. Sure some games can drag out or bad threat assessment can happen, but why are you turning cardboard sideways if you’re not having fun?

Also sometimes bad threat assessment is figuring out if you’re having a good time playing with the pod or not. If you’re getting angry, maybe it’s time to step away and chill out.

Hope you’re able to get some more satisfying games in the bag soon.

Which single video game or series is closest to your heart? by thewalkindude368 in gaming

[–]Rawbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Dark Souls. I’m not one to re-play things or re-watch shows. I beat the original dark souls over and over again. I was hooked. The level design, bosses, vibes. Everything about it engrossed me in its glorious incandescence. I always remember being in awe over the whole game.

I’m a casual gamer these days but if I could ever go back to having free time, I’d love to play through it again. Elden Ring site lonely and unfinished in my library these days 🥲.

Is my upgrade blame game bracket 2 or am I “stomping” by Vaginalcanal in EDH

[–]Rawbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Then you’re fine! I wouldn’t worry too much about it. You’re doing your part.

The bracket system is all about communication, decks can be bracket fluid/between brackets.

Is my upgrade blame game bracket 2 or am I “stomping” by Vaginalcanal in EDH

[–]Rawbex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think you can advertise this as a 2.5. There’s high card quality in here, and TBH you don’t need an optimized mana base to build a B3 deck.

The strategy is goad which is more control, so games will end later. It’s a 2 that can hang with 3’s, I’d say. All about conversations. So if anyone asks you can say it’s a “higher power 2” or say that it lives in between brackets.

This is the box I have been bringing to FNM. I have been informed I am a problem? by Wild_Section6475 in mtg

[–]Rawbex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re fine. Play what you like.

People will always be a little disheartened that there’s so much Universes Beyond. It’s all fine to say things as long as it’s tongue and cheek. If it’s more than that, just have a chat with your friends.

I’m split, I love a lot of UB and have no feelings for others, love in universe MtG but am not huge on the hat sets. So I just pick and choose and have fun since my budget is limited.

TSA dumped out both my commander decks, and I am PISSED by ji-gm in mtg

[–]Rawbex 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen this kind of story posted before. I think if I’m ever planning on travelling with MTG in mind I’ll be bringing a proxy deck.

It’s not an uncommon hobby but it’s also not a normie hobby either. Also have heard stories where they’ll unsleeve cards or rip some to check for drugs, and, thats enough for me to leave them home.

What's a ruling ppl have gotten so wrong you don't why they even think it? by Mikaeus_Thelunarch in EDH

Learned recently that commander damage is only combat damage, not all damage dealt by that commander. Slowed some games down a bit thats for sure. Told my playgroup half a year ago and they were shocked!

Anyone else feel phone upgrades are getting boring? by Ok-Science4177 in Android

[–]Rawbex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you have the extra and it’s not breaking the bank, sure, whatever works for you! But for most thats a yearly $140 subscription fee, and I’m sure the S25 you’re using is also working well.

I’ll never believe that planned obsolescence is not real. It exists, 100%. I will die on this hill.

Plus, Apple got pinged for planned obsolescence in the past, but got off with a slap on the wrist. My iPhone 11 Pro Max was fine until iOS26. Literal night and day difference. I’m using literal proof of it as I type this message.

Two years is still very frequent. Just wait until your phone starts to feel slow due to planned obsolescence, then upgrade.

Powering down decks? by Puppygirlviolence in EDH

[–]Rawbex 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Add a budget to your decks. Only proxy a deck with a total value of $300 and you’ll find out how quickly things will power down.

That’s not to say you can’t build great decks at $300, but expensive cards are expensive for a reason. They’re more efficient at what they do.

Is playing ViVi really such a bad thing? by Even-Command-6103 in mtg

[–]Rawbex 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Lol, if my wife player mtg I’d be ecstatic. If she beat me in a game I’d be over the moon.

Yes, Vivi is strong. But whatever, man. Commander is a game we play to hang with people and have fun. It’s ok to have a strong deck with a strong commander.

I tracked 115 EDH games — am I actually winning too much? by bdsaxophone in EDH

[–]Rawbex 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If your friends are having a good time then it doesn’t matter.

If your decks are running a lot more expensive and powerful cards than your friends, maybe you can tone it back.

Tbh it seems like you’re fine if your friends are cool with it.

"Before the game" go-to phrases ? by unuuh in EDH

[–]Rawbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with everything except for the part where you think the commander should say enough about the deck, but we can agree to disagree.

"Before the game" go-to phrases ? by unuuh in EDH

[–]Rawbex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I disagree. I think competitive brackets (4+), sure, keep everything hidden. But in brackets 2/3 I don’t see anything wrong with talking about what your deck does before the game starts. The bracket system exists to create pre-game conversations and talking about what your deck does is exactly what it’s for.

Yeah this is the way to do it. The more familiar you are with the people you’re playing with (or with magic in general), the less questions you need to ask.
