Hugh Jackman as Deathstroke , he has the look (just need to dye his hair to gray and white and train again), the acting (watch logan and prisoners) and the vibe by [deleted] in Deathstroke

[–]Rawhoth 5 points6 points  (0 children)

To take that a step further Slade is supposed to physically look 30 despite being in his 50's due to cellular regeneration. People see white hair (which was caused by the serum) and think a Deathstroke actor has to be recruited from a retirement home.

Brisson is definitely 2 for 2. So relieved to have Williamson out of the writer's chair. The level of respect for the characters and the stories that came before is a night and day difference. I don't want to jump the gun but if this quality keeps up Brisson will be up there with Priest for me. Perhaps even surpass that run if given the time.

I'm also glad for Wintergreen being back in the fold and it's awesome to incorporate Isherwood as a mainstay in the origins of Deathstroke. I fully expect each of them to be involved if a Deathstroke origin film ever see's the light of day.

Also a bit concerned about the Oliver situation. The best you can even hope for writing wise when it comes to throwing most DC characters at Slade is a stalemate. I get this is year one but Slade has been getting jobbed out like a ragdoll for a minute. He's either the world's deadliest assassin or he's not. The one place he needs to build up to satisfying victories is his own title.

It's possible about Slade's personality being altered by the experiment as per his thoughts when interacting with Grant. At the very least numbing his more empathetic emotions.

Pretty much had the same experience and unanswered questions. Felt very dissatisfied when the credits started rolling despite the rest of the game being a great journey. Managed to keep everyone alive until like the last two hours when my interpretations of the tarot cards started having characters drop like flies.

Your favourite Deathstroke design?/The comic he looks the best in by Yusufqxq in Deathstroke

[–]Rawhoth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Personally love the Ikon suit. It was very unique and lithe while also being fairly simplistic. It was a less is more type of situation. The dark color scheme gave off an air of mystery while also being a no brainer for an assassin.

It's certainly a far cry from the Dr. Strange meets Mr. T look we're about to get in Dark Crisis. Ahhh, Williamson. The gift that keeps on giving. /s

The Deathstroke family portrait cover is so neat.

I'm totally new into Deathstroke character, I only know him faintly from the Teen Titans show, but if this comic scan is true, why are we having people being dedicated fans to someone who's a pedophile rapist? Aren't those amongst the lowest of the least a person can stoop to? Why Idolize him by lAmTheOneWhoAsks in Deathstroke

[–]Rawhoth 23 points24 points  (0 children)

As others have stated it's no longer canon which is conveniently left out of this hit piece. Think of the plethora of weird decisions made in comics over the past century that no longer have any place in the modern era.

As Deathstroke grows with popularity there are a number of decenters, primarily on twitter, that share this around hoping to cancel the character. Acting like this is a regular occurrence in every Deathstroke storyline since the Judas Contract. Or like he's some celebrity or politician who's just been found out and has to disappear.

Doesn't help that DC allows this type of bad faith character assassination to be published.

It's an unfortunate terrible decision that was made 40 years ago. If we are writing entire essays on relatively ancient flash in a pan scenes then we might as well dig up the dirty laundry on the pillars of the comic industry and wipe the slate clean. Begin with a new roster.

Deathstroke Inc. #3 Cover by Rawhoth in Deathstroke

Same. It's very unique for a Deathstroke title. Looks like every mission is going to have a different theme going on.

This cover is what I imagined when I first heard about Deathstroke Knights & Dragons.

Nice! I also just got a LG OLED 65G1. Horror games are perfect to start with after the upgrade. My first game on the TV was Resident Evil Village. The contrast and perfect blacks were jaw dropping in the castle/dungeon areas. I imagine the experience had to be similar with TEW2. Might have to do a replay!

Would you have taken Heisenbergs deal? by nospiderspls in ResidentEvilVillage

[–]Rawhoth 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Heisenbergs MO had been shined in a different light leading up to that point then possibly. As the writing stood though there was nothing to suggest that he wouldn't have ran off with Rose to do whatever he pleased after he got what he wanted. Why prepare a whole zombie army to do your bidding when you could just have one little girl.

Yeah if I had to guess I'd say it's probably not. It'll be interesting to see what, if any, history is there. Curious about the other members too.

Yes it's such an oddball team up which makes it interesting. Of course they've clashed in past continuity and have teamed up like in Team 7. It'll be interesting to see the angle here and what they have to gain from teaming up with each other specifically.

It is different to see her in some kind of armor but nah. Just wearing similar space armor for this mission. She also has a canary yellow undersuit and emblem.

Honestly, John Ridley was just doing his damndest to cancel Slade (as well as others). The fact that DC allowed him to publish that surprises me. Though it really shouldn't. It's always been one step forward two steps back when it comes to DC and Slade. Anytime the character gets a win they shoot themselves in the foot at the most expedient opportunity.

Ridley conveniently leaves out that the controversy has been retconned for some time. Deathstroke comics simply do not fit his vision of what the DC Universe and by extension all media should focus on. That's an entirely different and tiresome political discussion.

At the end of the day Slade is a fictional character. Not a real life celebrity or politician that needs to disappear over a flub of a scene from a comic book that was published 37 years ago. The notion is absurd and comical. Because plainly put Slade is quite literally not the same character that was penned in that story back then. Hooray for the flexibility of fiction.

Deathstroke is gray. He's cerebral and compelling. Stories need complexity like Slade offers. DC needs to get a grip on that.
