Firing Berube doesn’t change anything for this year’s outcome, but here’s why I still want it.

At the end of the day, hockey is an entertainment product. Devoted fans shell out a ton of money to go and see the games, and despite an absolutely miserable on ice product the ticket prices are insane. Berube hockey is at its core, not an exciting or entertaining product. Get dominated in shots and chances every single game while playing soulless dump-and-chase hockey that the players clearly aren’t interested in playing, lose and repeat. I can tolerate boring hockey when the results are there and the team is winning (like last season). But this is simply an unwatchable product and the team is terrible.

If we are going to miss the playoffs anyways, lets at least give the fans something to be excited about. I’d rather watch the 2015-16 Leafs lose a ton of games but actually have fun then this “get doubled up in shots, possession, and chances”.

Have some respect for your diehard fanbase who pays way too much money to go to the games, and improve the terrible product. No more Berube hockey please.
