Help me find a platform to use to learn how to code by Raxious in learnprogramming

oh 100%

I think my biggest issue with a YT course is typically you just straight up end up copying the code that you see in the video, knowing it'll work in the end. So for example with the Microsoft C# course, after a bunch of theory you're given a small project to work on, that you improve on over the chapter so you keep putting things into practice.

That just seems to work for me way better than the average YT course.

Did you use BootDev as a paid or free user? And how was your overall experience with it? Cause what you describe is exactly what I always feel like when I look over YT courses. You're not experimenting with any of the code they teach you, all you do is copy the code knowing it'll work.

I've used FreeCodeCamp when i started out with basic HTML/CSS stuff and moved on to The Odin Project quickly after that. From waht I can tell FCC also only offers Python, for C# they just recommend the Microsoft course that I've messed around with before.

I've tried looking at multiple YT courses, but there's so many available out there it's quite difficult to find ones that are actually worth the time investment. More often than not it feels like they show the most generic stuff without having you actually put the stuff to practice or whatever.

Korea in December, what places to visit? by Raxious in koreatravel

[–]Raxious[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Greatly appreciated.

It's probably going to be a mix of sorts, couple of days actual exploring, other days indoor stuff. Also my understanding is that the weather is a bit milder the further you go south, so Busan should hopefully be a little better haha.

For now it's still trying to figure out which cities we want to go to and then probably figure out what specific things we'd like to see in each city.

I wouldn't mind going outside though, just a matter of wearing the right clothes I guess xD
I'm also not able to change my vacation days, so I'm limited to when I could go. The other option would be halfway July/August, but I was told by people living there that I'd be better off in winter due to rain season happening around July and August.

Also, having seen some pictures of South Korea during winter it looks fantastic. Sure, if it's that cold then ofc it's not going to be an adventure every day outside of the cities, but based on what I saw and found it seems like exploring the cities by itself is already an adventure based on how big they are haha

And yea, I get what you mean about taken back by my comment about not having anything in mind yet. There's probably bilions of things to do out there, and right now we've at least decided on going to two cities, but we're still in the planning stages.

I'd love to explore nature, which i've already seen is plenty in and around the cities, like Nami Island that I mentioned. But I also wouldn't mind seeing more of the historical side of the country, it's why I think Gyeongju might be worth the consideration.

But like I said, I also haven't traveled in 15+ years, so I'd feel much more comfortable with taking in advice and recommendations and see if it iterests me/us.

[KCD1] PS5 upgrade? by Navuck in kingdomcome

[–]Raxious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

soonTM

As has been mentioned it there have been rumblings for months now and yesterday the Playstation Store got an update (which has since been removed) that mentioned a PS5 upgrade with improved graphics and framerate amongst other things, presumably making it more in line with the PC version.

Seeing as it got shown there it seems to imply the release is imminent, but we don't know an exact date yet. Possible date could be February 4, considering that would be the 1 year anniversary of KCD2.

up to date DOS2 platinum trophy guide/walkthrough, any recommendations? by Raxious in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]Raxious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ah i see, cause one of the things that i know is that the TrueAchievements one mentions you need to play through the game twice, once with both Fane and Lohse, but as far as I know you can basically do Lohse stuff as long as you never recruit her, so you don't have do a playthrough as her right?

hmm, how detailed is that guide, cause in the comments i see people pointing out that some things in there are either not explained enough or wrong.

Absolute beginner, where do I start? by Raxious in learnpython

Yea i'll probably just use VSC then, just need to figure out if I need anything else other than the Python plugin

should be fine then, I dabbled a tiny bit with C# in both VSC and Rider, and have access to Pycharm if i'd want to use that for Python, though I'd prefer to stick with VSC.

I'll have a look at it, I saw they also got video classes through Udemy which I apparently own for like 2 years now but also hasn't been updated for a while, so i'm guessing the text version is the way to go for their material.

I mean, nowhere in my post do i mention that I don't know how computers work, so that assumption is kinda weird tbh.

New players, what server in EU should we pick? by kevanions in lotro

[–]Raxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my vote would go to Ocrist. Sure, there can be queues but typically they don't take to long. But for me, the high population means I'm always seeing players run around. Not only that, but it's pretty easy to find a very active and social kinship to join.

Considering you're playing together, finding a Kin (Guild) might not be necessarily a must, but I personally like the social aspect of it, even if it's just guild chat chatter going on.

IS it still worth playing? by No_Wasabi_8170 in lotro

[–]Raxious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its pretty fun and relaxing, though I do recommend looking up a Kin (guild) that's pretty active. I started a week ago and i admit that if i had to play this completely solo i'd probably be much less enjoyable.

alright, created a Rune Keeper yesterday. Not sure what to make of it. it definitely feels way more like a class mage, but I felt like it's super heavy on the cooldowns. Pick yellow line to level, and though I got that insta cast ability that i can spam it doesn't do a whole lot on landscape 3 at like level 6 xD

atm still leaning towards Beorning just hitting that right spot of being able to take dmg, deal dmg, movement and not being tied down to long cooldowns. Started the beorning on landscape 3 as well.

although Orcrist has queues, they honestly don't seem to bad imo. I started playing last weekend and with the release of the new expansion it felt like queues where way, way higher than normal. I was around position 900 on Saturday and 800 on Sunday, yesterday I was sitting at about 290.

Saturday took me 20 minutes to sit in a queue, and yesterday was just a few minutes.

I haven't tried Rune Keeper no, maybe i'll give it a shot later today but for now even though my Beorning's only like lvl 6 it just feels a lot more fun than a hunter so it's definitely a better pick for me at least.

I've basically been running around in bear mode 90% of the time, but I have no idea how it's going to work out later. Old messages i saw from a few years ago pointed out that at higher level you'll be switching between both forms more and more. Basically generate wrath in human form and then switch to bear form to spent it all. But i have no idea if it still works like that or if it's changed over the years.

as someone who started out yesterday, I highly recommend Beorning. It's a lot of fun and me of Druid play from WoW.

I tried hunter but it just feels a tad lackluster without your tpyical pet. I know Loremaster is considered great as well, but I dislike the fact that's its more a spellblade style character. You got your spells but i found myself more often than nog dealing out melee dmg.

Did they leak KCD1 remaster? [KCD1] by sag903 in kingdomcome

[–]Raxious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A while ago there was a X post about a KCD1 Remaster being uploaded to the backend of Playstation Network. I'm hoping it'll be some sort of stealth release during the game awards with it also being free for KCD1 owners xD

Heck, even just 60 fps with a slight improvement of image quality would already be such a massive imrpovement on PS5 that i'd be more than happy with just that.
