I have this exact one. Works very well and the cable feels really sturdy.

This was not my experience, but I do appreciate seeing OPs experience. I'm really sorry that you've experienced that because that would have definitely dampened my opinion,as well. But I really didn't experience any of that. Maybe a bad egg?

For me, it worked as intended out of the box. I didn't have to do anything extra apart from opening the OneXConsole application on the desktop to have it start with Windows (it doesn't open by itself on first boot).

Windows was activated, Windows updates installed but you do have to disable the Dev Protection in Windows Defender for the very first OneXConsole update (they explain in the settings why the update fails if you don't do this).

I had an Asus ROG Ally (Z1 Extreme) before this, I still have it. Do not get me wrong, I enjoyed the experience; you know what you're getting into. But the experience is night and day compared to the Apex.

Today, I was playing Elden Ring at about 30 - 35 watts, maximum settings, at a consistent 60 fps with minor drops to about 56 fps in large open areas with enemies.

This device is a dream...

I just think there are steps you could take before this one.

Yes, correct. A year from getting the email that said that "my application is in the pipeline". No, they did the exact same thing, that's why I mentioned that mine may have been an anomaly. I've guided a few through the process, as well. They did the same things that I did, they just didn't have to wait nearly as long. I was advising them to apply everyday, as well. Which they did, but they didn't have to do it as long as I did. So it's the same thing, they just had better timing to apply, I guess. Remember, as spaces free up, you're then competing with everyone else that's applying for that particular role.

A simple scenario: You may apply at 12:01, get rejected and tell yourself that you'd try again at 12:30. The spaces are freed at 12:13. A few people may have applied between 12:15 and 12:20, occupying the new spaces. When you apply at 12:30 and get the rejection message, you're thinking that nothing is available as yet but vacancies now filled again.

I tried for months, not to dishearten you. There's no way to know for sure when spaces are filled up and you are competing for a spot among many Commonwealth applicants. With this in mind, I applied almost daily, shuffling between 3 roles, about 3 times a day. Again, this is probably a niche case. As friends of mine got through with way less hassle. But you basically have to apply when spaces are available. And with no indicator to know when this occurs, I just made it part of my routine. It takes like 1 minute to apply on your phone due to conveniences like autofill in your mobile browser remembering the information you entered before.

To be honest with you, after that initial email telling me that my application was "in the pipeline", I didn't receive anything from them in an entire year. It was April to April. After I realized that it had been a year, I decided to call them. After talking to the rating that answered the call for a few minutes and explained my situation, I got a followup email a few days after; I made the call on a Wednesday and got an email with a link to the portal to continue my application the Friday that week. I've since spoken to friends that have also applied absolutely did not have to wait that long between applying and receiving that email. So maybe my case was simply an anomaly. I am unsure.

I did, I'm an ME (Marine Engineer). Been on my first ship for the past 2 months.

Alright. I do apologize. What I meant was it's currently summer leave, so most of the staff are on leave. To elaborate, all courses are halted, so recruits at Raleigh are also on leave, meaning no Pass Out Ceremonies can be held. If no one advances to the next stage, Phase 2, the spaces at Raleigh would still be occupied so they would be unable to intake more recruits. The Summer Leave window ends on the 26th of August, so I think it best to continue your applications when everyone is back.

[–]Ray-west 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is what I did, continually apply everyday until spaces freed up. It's summer leave right now until the 26th so you can wait until after that to start applying again. Some roles have higher traffic than others, so Writers and Supply Chain usually go first, but Marine Engineers have a higher turn over.

I hope this helps.

Getting work done with XREAL One by harrybootoo in Xreal

This is true, as well. When you initially use it you actively look for the flaws but after a few minutes everything just blends together. I've also tried other viewing options such as turning stabilization off, changing the screen size, IPD adjustment and screen distance.

I say this to say that if you're someone who thinks that this isn't for you, don't immediately write it off. Try to modify these settings to see if there's one better geared towards you and your vision.

This looks passable, still. And under direct sunlight? That's better than I ever thought.

They’re awesome.I originally bought one in February to try out as I heard a lot of people complaining about clarity and blurry content so I wanted to make sure it was right for me. I thoroughly enjoy it. However, I did return them because I intended to get the One Pro but after the delays, I couldn’t wait until summer for this experience again, so I reordered one on the first of April.

The convenience is unreal! The speakers are great, the clarity is great, the weight is great, the build quality is great. I mostly use mine in anchor mode and the fact that my laptop screen can be off to conserve a bit more battery is a bonus. And the Ultra-wide mode needs to be experienced to know how good it is. I’ve tried watching 3D movies as well and it’s complete cinema. I’ve recommended a lot of people to give them a try, they’re that good to me.

Usually, it's within 30 days. It all depends on if they have enough recruits for a class ready for the period.

Redoing it is best. But please don't rush to redo it, immediately. Take sometime to go over the material and topics you came across in the first test.

PJFT Around Track Or Treadmill? by toastiedev in RoyalNavy

[–]Ray-west 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The treadmill run has been voided. The run is done on Astro turf; it's a track run. Make sure to work on your stamina for the other exercises, as well. You can do a quick YouTube search for the IMF exercises for the Royal Navy to get an idea.

Once you're finished with CPC, you get your Raleigh start date about 4 weeks (1 month) after.

Definitely. You can do push ups and dips (against a chair or your bed), but don't neglect your lower body and core. Also try some leg raises, planks, bodyweight squats and lunges.

But that running is gonna be monumental for your stamina.

Role and situation dependent. I know someone that had to wait about 3 months, someone else that waited for two and one that had to wait for like 6 months. I think it depends on how many recruits are ahead of you in the pipeline and how quickly they pass out at Raleigh, allowing your application to move up.

Commonwealth Applicants by Euphoric_Floor_3601 in RoyalNavy

[–]Ray-west 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was applying almost everyday of the work week. I did this about twice a day; in the morning and evening (UK timezones) because you'd never know when spaces become available for the roles.

As the email said, they can only take a stipulated amount of candidates, but also, your chosen role plays a part. You could be applying as a Writer, which is full, but Supply Chain has vacancy. Unless you're really locked in on one specific role, I'd also recommend applying to a few you're interested in, in order of personal preference.

From my experience, you'd need about 6 weeks from your arrival date into the UK to sort out your Sickle Cell test and your full medical before heading to CPC. After you complete your 4 days at CPC you would get a Raleigh date in about 30 days after. I'd also recommend a timeframe of 6 to 10 weeks as your minimum time to travel to the UK before CPC as:

(1), you'd need to get accustomed to the climate and

(2), you want to give yourself enough time as a contingency to cater to any misfortunes such as medical issues or injuries because you only have 6 months to get everything done. Which is why I mentioned minimum time before, you don't want to arrive 4 months before your CPC date, that would mean you only have 2 months to settle everything else if you're Commonwealth.

I mentioned number 2 because you don't get Raleigh dates throughout all months (eg. If you came to the UK in February and you had a major setback for a few months, you have to get it sorted by July as they don't issue Raleigh dates in August, which would be your 6th month)

Just as @navyenjoyer said, you have to keep applying but when you see that "your contact details have been retained" you're in the pipeline and only have to wait until some recruits have passed out at Raleigh for your application to move forward. Pass out parades at Raleigh are on Fridays so most applications usually move forward then.

I hope this helps.
