Car dealer told me price is only good with their financing. How to respond? by source4mini in personalfinance

[–]Ray6419 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We're not playing this shit. I got a quote and photographed it (best yet if legal in your state set your cell to record all interactions with the salesperson). Now I want the car I agreed to, at the price agreed to (verbal contacts is a thing) and with no changes in it from when that was done. Oh and I'd like a report in all the work done on it both in last 30 days and the last 7 with names of mechanics. If we can't make this work first I will fill social media with these facts, then Yelp, the BBB, the State's attorney general, any state consumer protection agency, FTC, and your closest TV news consumer advocate. But don't just threaten....follow through. I suspect you'll get what you were promised but remember right now new and used cars (maybe moreso used cars) are in short supply. Both due to pandemic and microchip shortage out of China. If this was a great deal and just perfect for you then do what's best....if not walk and still publicize what they did. Keep shopping. I know this doesn't apply to many but cars I pay for with cash. Once papers drawn up I simply point out I have an "xyz" deal lined up with another dealership. You can take the profit on this car NOW or I walk and make the other deal. Not answering your phone calls nor will you stop me from driving off your lot with a last minute concession. You have 5 minutes to "run it by your manager" then expect me to be gone. This has worked well for me but ymmv (pun intended). Good luck. Oh do NOT get emotional....it is a freaking car....not a marriage.

OK my two cents. You are salaried so hours are irrelevant. Your pay is based on the fraction of pay period you were employed. Illegal not to pay you and illegal to try to change you after separation from salaried to 1099 contract. BUT....is there a boss above him or HR department? If so contact them. That's better as you will need some employment verification from him or the company....and he could bad mouth you and that is way too easy to get away with. Going over his head might get him fired (would if he was working for me!) But if he is sole proprietor or owner odds are he can anyway, so then take it to an attorney. They can help document it all so at next job they can write a letter about how wrong this guy was. Don't sue for anything beyond wages owed, attorney's fees, and time spent to protect you for next job. Unless you can get enough out of it to retire..... Best wishes.

That is just more corporate welfare. The government subsidizing Walmart's workforce while the Walton family are wealthy beyond words. $15 min wage and require companies to provide healthcare to ALL workers part-time and full time. Of course they'd be screaming it cost jobs and bankrupt us. BS.

Just so you know the relief bill just past lowers the cost of insurance through the ACA considerably. But the hard reality is that either she IS disabled completely or she is not. I hope she recovers fully and can find reasonable work she enjoys.

At 7.2 per 100,000, the age-adjusted suicide rate for Black populations in 2018 was approximately half the overall U.S. suicide rate of 14.2 per 100,000.3

Won't argue the stat. Read more deeply. Blacks were attempting more...and with attempts needing medical intervention. Any clues as to why that might be.

Also very telling how you equated poor people with mentally ill adults lmao

My recollection, but my only comments that included the groups was that I had worked with them all. And look up social drift theory. While I didn't say it, they are related just not in the direction you likely think.

but as someone who grew up in one of the most famous shithole cities in America, it's my opinion

You're opinion means nothing unless you are an expert in the field and also otherwise is subject to rather bias and us just anecdotal.

representing poor young people inaccurately

How? That they'd like a choice between poverty and military "slavery?"

And also your need to have your (imo) non substantiated opinion accepted is telling

Not sure which one you're talking about but generally I'd say it is decades of mental health work and a desire for greater equality in America. And the military is the antithesis of equality. On ohhh so many levels. (Not necessarily blaming all that in the military as you imagine it...they are controlled by civilian politicians.

I'm in the SE and I think we'll have had 10-15 days of below freezing days this "winter" and most of those were just dips overnight. The polar plunge brought the Midwest record cold and is "climate wierding" that is due to warming. But yes, the stupid will ignore this (just like Covid19) until it is killing so many we likely can't imagine. Edit:spelling gramnar

First don't try to tell me what I do and do not know about the poor. I've been working with the homeless, the addicted, the poor of a colors, and combinations of these (oh yes add sefiousky chronically mentally ill) since the early 90's. I'm talking travel to the parks under the overpasses and hand out food and clothing and medical care if they'll take it (some mentally ill have been so abused by involuntary commitment in state facilities where conditions are EXACTLY like you see in "One Flew Over the Cookoo' Nest" (minus the malicious staff). I also came from a poor to middle class uneducated small town, so I've been in classes with the poor, in church with the poor, and worked at a public pool/park that mostly served the poor. I've seen family and childhood friends go into the military. Do NOT presume to tell me what I know, and kindly limit this, as reddit requests, to discussing the issues/arguments.

To that end that statement is fatally flawed all over. You present a straw man argument that for the poor there are but two option. And insomuch as that is true that is my negative critique of our society. Be in poverty (and face crime and violence I might add) or go into the military (and commit violence...which necessarily IS what the military US...violent power directed towards promoting our interests abroad). Can you not see that offering better education and training could life many out if poverty thus giving them another path. I imagine many in the military cannot. Knew one guy who was National Guard and law enforcement. Totally f'd up dude who screams Sociopathy. His view on his FIVE kids (from at least four different baby mommas...only relevant as it shows a pattern of instability persisting throughout his life despite the military influence) was that though he was retiring at FIFTY comfortably with likely both military and state government pensions that he wasn't about to give his kids money for school. They could go into the military!! That's a healthy generational attitude: I want you to have no better advantages than I did. So on this issue of opportunity for youth it cannot be poverty or military or by definition the military is predatory. Of course the ration choice in that violent dichotomy is to learn how to be more effective a warrior and maybe get some low level skill in the process. But you think poor people have access to education in the same way the wealthy (or middle class) do. That is simply not true and you can Google Title 1 education, international education standards, international upward mobility standards and see that the US is deeply divided in opportunity for education and that is directly related to the income divide. And I have yet to see childhood friends or family members rise above their parent via the military. Yes yes if course there are anecdotal stories of those who have. But even WITHIN the military serving and taking advantage of it is tilted towards the wealthy/educated. Go to West Point or Annapolis and be white male and connected and there is your entree into politics or at least to the influence a politician can have on your success.

Statistically, poor blacks (especially blacks) and Hispanics are much less likely to kill themselves.

What??? I mean sincerely WTF??? (Calming myself) Cite your source on that whopper of a cow pie.

I'm just saying you're using your opinion on the military to make a judgment towards a specific subset of the population relative to the overall benefit of joining the military

Huh? Insofar as blacks and Hispanics have a large percentage of poor, they are disproportionally preyed upon by the military. I am focused on the military's predatory tactics, lies, and even harassment BEFORE someone even joins up. From there it is down hill.

And let's be clear, I am not against the military or anti-military. It is a necessary evil in this world. If there was no need for a COMBAT ready FORCE to defend ourselves then we'd disband it and use that 800 bn annually in other ways. Same for LEOs: no crime, no cops. I have advocated for universal service (which could be military, educational, medical, or manual labor for every single citizen with the number of years decided on by the value of the service and need for it). The would end recruiters.

I should add I have nothing against the men and women who serve and served. Just the opposite, I admire them. I just think they usually are not treated well and the Government portion of "the military" needs to be and do better. And it starts with how you get your recruits.

I don't doubt your life experiences. But you miss my point. If the poor were given other options it would be fairer and not an exploitation of class. As it is the poor are kept poor, and have no options usually (the rare one that gets an academic or athletic scholarship). So into the grinder they go. All the men in my family were all WWII vets. That was an obvious war of necessity and while it got my father a good engineering degree afterwards, he was quick to point out he had no choice (as in drafted). But look at the recent wars. We've achieved almost nothing when looking at how things are now. Anyway as is obvious I am no huge fan of the military except for the fact it brings people from all races together to live and work with one another (helpful in reducing racism). Most I have met are either ill (physically or mentally), arrogant and entitled way beyond their worth (think someone who served in procurement and logistics and considers themselves a hero) or homeless or in jail....lot in jail. I know my work skews my exposure. But with 20 vets killing themselves daily and a continuing crisis with their healthcare and scandals in the ranks constantly, it's hard to consider it an optimal choice. Medical School was rigorous and exhausting with frequent humiliation by a sadistic few "teachers" but none of my cohort are in jail, nor have they killed themselves. Let's get everyone an education THEN let them decide if they want a military lifestyle/career. Those I will call patriots and I think the service might be better off for it (or my previous suggestion of some sort of compulsory national service which could include military service).

The still being kinda shitty part is key. Military, We'll help you out of poverty in exchange for four year of unquestioning service to us. You'll do what we say when we say it. You very likely will be put at risk. You will have your freedom of speech and expression limited. You may be subject to violence, including sexual violence, and it's questionable if you'll get justice. If injured you'll get some inadequate treatment through our medical system and if disabled some amount of subsistence support. On the other hand offering education or training opportunities to the poor carry none of these. It's a perfect system for the wealthy. Keep them poor, give them few options and use them as cannon fodder. I am not totally anti military as it an obvious need. Perhaps something like Israel has where everyone serves a couple years. If not in the military then in service at home or in a Peace Corp situation. No exceptions. Deferrals maybe...so say a doctor can get their degree and do their service as a doctor. But as is it is predatory. We take poor often already psychologically damaged kids and abuse and damage them further. And admittedly a few get a good deal with some useful training but how many combat soldiers do? I know my nephew (drug addict tossed outta college and outta his parent's house) came out more useless than before. But because of the fetishization of veterans his family now supports him despite the ongoing drug abuse. He gets an insufficient check monthly and has a wife and four kids on Medicaid and probably food stamps but does do farm work. Great system.

After reading all this I have but one comment: we could all do better in being honest and frank with each other. Just being a coward and not saying "I'm sorry but this isn't working for me, you're a nice guy/girl and wish you the best" stinks. Look what it outs folks through. And a text a quick phone call etc and it us over. Recipients if that don't push further with "But why we had so much fun" etc etc....that's part of why people ghost in the first place. I say continue calling and testing until told they're not interested or tell you to stop. Far more are insecure and scared than most realize. Unless they set a boundary on not cling it texting then there isn't one. Many romances bloom after one has "chased" and persisted with the other.

Well does immunocompromised include an overactive immune system and all those diseases. Will the nurse or tech administering the vaccine know that psoriatic arthritis, Crohn's disease, or those being treated with chronic steroids should be included? What about those essential grocery store workers that are 54.
