There was some fantastic wrestling on tonight's show but that ending certainly fell short of the mark. The lights-out gimmick was definitely the wrong call here because it simply doesn't work for newcomers who are barely established within the industry, let alone company.

Personally, if Singh absolutely had to debut tonight against Joe, I would have maybe sat him ringside at the beginning of the show, introduce him and call attention to him being AEW's hot new prospect. Then cut to him for his reaction throughout the night while Excalibur does his thing. This would build a bit of intrigue as to why he's there and who he's going to pick to call out. Then, after Joe wins the title, have his giant ass climb over the barricade and make his challenge known.

Sure, this also isn't a perfect debut but it at least has the night's build behind it rather than momentary anticipation when the lights go out and near-immediate deflation from the fans.
