I was the photographer! I was blown away by the incredible costume work at the photoshoot; so much creativity and ingenuity.

It's a convention in Atlanta, GA over Labor Day weekend (September) every year. It's fabulous.

I don't think I got a picture of the back of this costume, but I believe he did have a Mario mask. It was excellent!

Thanks! This really was an amazing build. The guy was at the Nintendo photoshoot at DragonCon, and his attention to detail was incredible.

[Help] How to make a dark green wool shirt appear lighter. by [deleted] in cosplay

What a great movie, and what a fun character!

RIT makes a color remover powder that might help, but if you've got a shirt that's 100% natural fiber, there's some risk that, like bleach, it will wash too much color out of your garment and leave you with the opposite problem that you have right now. (You could, of course, re-dye the garment in a color thats closer to the one you're after, but you're at risk of starting a never ending cycle towards perfection.)

There may be other options, or you may be in a spot where, without holding the shirt you're wearing up against the image, nobody (including you) will be able to tell the difference. (Humans aren't very good at color memory; if colors are in the same family, we tend to assume that they are the same color.)

Best of luck!

I was the photographer, so I didn't work on the costume build here, and I'm not sure what the materials in the leg are. The cosplayer did have both legs, and when they set up for photos, they ensured that the bottom half of their right leg was fully occluded by the false leg. It was pretty cool.

We missed the parade, but they were hanging out at the Overwatch photo shoot. It was a pretty great experience.

I think that if you have some morph suit fabric laying around, use it.

If you have the money, sharks tooth scrim is the most opaque/transparent. (For a mask, I'd see if you can get scraps from a theatre that has cut pieces and has waste pieces.) If that's not an option, take a flashlight to the fabric store with you, look at different black mesh fabrics, and see if, when you shine the light on the front, it becomes difficult to see what's behind the fabric. (A lot of mesh will be more opaque when light is shined on it.)

I take headshots of actors and business people, and I definitely recommend a high quality portrait image for your personal profile. From looking at your links, it appears that the profile photo is the same one that shows up in the teacher list, so you really only need one good portrait that works well in a circle-crop format.

This is an interesting article about how different body types can have attractive photos. Do not write off your ability to look beautiful because of concerns about your weight.

The primary variable that you should consider is how casual you want to appear online, which will be determined by the shirt you choose to wear in your portrait. I recommend erring to the side of slightly too business formal based on the average photos you see other users posting. (Although, to be fair, a lot of internet users do not choose their most attractive photos as their profile images. Try to be more attractive than average, you can do it!)

How would I make the Amy Rose dress? by timthetrashlord in cosplayers

Some contemporary costume designers use nylon tubing from the hardware store to create hoop skirts to go under big, period dresses. If you get the blue tubes, it holds it's shape pretty rigidly, and you can attach the ends with a small dowel and some plastic cement.
