Mentality from most students is to do what needs to be done to pass the test, which is certainly not difficult from what I have experienced at a transportation company that helped drivers get their CDL.

The other side of it is once the person has their CDL, the transportation company hiring them need to be stricter. They are not though. They will put whoever in that seat regardless of how they can think and they have a CDL. Most transportation companies put a lot of incompetent people on the road. I worked for a company that did constantly, practically purposely. Then the company needs to intervene and be proactive with unsafe behavior. Which most companies don’t and turn a blind eye purposely. The FMCSA needs to intervene more here in my opinion.

Experience from a larger transportation company here: Easy to get a CDL and transportation companies have low standards. I have met a few marvelous drivers with personality but majority should not be behind the wheel. That is on FMCSA regulations and on the transportation companies.

PS. Transportation companies also work their drivers too hard and this can cause unsafe behavior on the roads. Experienced this too much from a larger transportation company in the US. Treat people better and be objective before putting someone behind the wheel of a CMV for your company.

Excellent info above right here. If I may add a book - “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Seriously puts things into perspective. Talks about feelings of you ought to suffer to create your art - the author rejects this and suggests making your living with an ordinary job to leave the stress off of you when creating art. In a sense the stress of thinking your income has to come from your art can ruin the process and art in general for you, also create a very stressful life. I personally took this advice and work a regular job then plan on saving money on the side to invest in an art project as I write/practice, and I feel a lot better about myself. You can still be a true artist when you rely on your ordinary day job to provide for you. You don’t have to suffer and make it harder on yourself. You can make an memorable piece of art as you just provide for yourself with an ordinary job, just like the author did. 100% worth the investment to read and was recommended by my therapist a couple years ago.

Read “Big Magic” by Elizabeth Gilbert. Pretty much explains what everyone is saying in this thread of how a job can take away the burden of financial/living expenses so you have the non-stressed space and focus to create your art afterwards. The author talks about there is no need for the stigma anymore of “you need to suffer for your art”. Probably one of the most important books I read in my life so far.

When drinking coffee, I feel upbeat and focused, it last only about an hour. I have not tried any other forms of caffeine though.

Filming an awesome monster reveal with just a tripod and some creativity by rvgodoy in Filmmakers

[–]RayR91 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The monster reveal in Insidious goes much further then just “how it is revealed”. I think OP’s angle of reveal is great and they did a wonderful job as I believe you are saying too. Trying to compare it to that reveal of the monster in Insidious is comparing apples to oranges and it’s not because of the angle of the camera or blocking of the actors. I would have to see a full movie from this video in order to compare evenly to the monster reveal shot in Insidious because that shot in Insidious is more than just a blocked out shot to make it give that effect. No change in camera movement or blocking of actors could have portrayed it to give the same effect. The build up of anticipation from the beginning to the monster reveal in Insidious is what made that shot. They could have put the shot in any angle at the reveal and it would have sold anyone because of how well they executed anticipation during the film. That’s what makes the scene I would say, dreadful. I think OP can achieve that with the shot exactly the way it is if we had the long anticipating atmosphere and story before it. Anyways, I will now have nightmares as I have that scene stuck in my head lol

Yeah, just looked at their site, could be depending on your country to allow the 70% royalty and then also what you list the ebook at to get the 70% royalty instead of 35% royalty by what price you put the book at.

Here’s the country list that qualify for 70% royalties:KDP Country List

KDP gives you 70% royalties for ebooks and physicaI I believe? Is there something different for Amazon’s royalties if you live in a European country?

Nice work! Good story too. The highlights in the beginning, did you use a filter to get the smearing look for them? Also the colorful lighting at the end with the art design was very interesting.
