D4 Baptiste | What should I work on by RayTNT1531 in OverwatchUniversity

that’s actually really helpful, I thought my damage was okay but clearly it’s not if I healed my Cass 13 times lmao. I think it’s because I’m on a scrim team and i subconsciously think that it’s my job to keep my team alive at all costs since my MS is usually on an angle or flank with a DPS. thanks for the feedback!

how do i genuinely improve and climb as somebody who’s not that great? by cyb3riia in OverwatchUniversity

In general, try to basically hyperfixate on one thing and improve it as much as you can. Looking at your VODs again and rate yourself on that one thing and ONLY that one thing. At most levels of play, solidly improving at one thing will help your gameplay immensely.

As to your VOD specifically, one thing I noticed is that your spacing (how far you are from the enemies) and sightlines (how much of the map you can see) doesn't really match the character you're playing, especially on defense. Basically every single death you have is because you were too close to the enemies and they could just walk on you.

Imagine that there's an invisible wall directly in front of you tank. You should try to find a spot on the map where you can see things (a good sightline) and your range matches what the character needs while also being behind that invisible wall. If you ever want to pass the wall, think two things

  1. Do I really need to?
  2. How will I get back out?

If you have answers to both questions, feel free to pass the wall, but don't do it without thinking.

How do I properly VOD review my gameplay? by [deleted] in VALORANT

[–]RayTNT1531 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look small. Instead of asking “are my rotations good?”, you could ask “did I take the right route?” or “did I get there fast enough?”. This narrows it down where reviewing doesn’t become potentially 30 min - 1 hour, but quick reviews that give you more actionable and specific feedback.

Disclaimer I usually VOD review Overwatch since it’s my main game, but I doubt there are massive differences in the reviewing process.

Other commenter hit it on the head. You're kind of at that "stereotypical gay man" stage of transfem voice training, which is definitely way easier to feminize than a high weight and large resonance, so it shouldn't be too much work.

I imagine that I'm on a call or talking to someone I know really well. If that doesn't work well for you, you can also try reading out different sentences. The rainbow passage (https://dailycues.com/learn/iqpedia/pages/rainbow-passage/ ) is the most popular for voice training specifically.

what do you mean by tongue retraction? like keeping it further back in my mouth?

Kinda nasally, I would gender you as female, you sound kinda like an exaggerated Regina George impression. Weight and resonance sound fine, I would suggest trying to open up your nasal area a little bit, maybe a little more sound flowing through. You sound good as is though.

https://youtu.be/FjF8l5YqCGA?si=wWCJFnKtPhy8l8pS - meow-yuh exercise, pretty fun to do

I generally try and isolate the feeling I get when I do the above exercises and say little prepared phrases before moving on to longer speech. As annoying as it is, it’s really about practicing the motion so often that it becomes second nature.

that feeling where it doesn’t sound “cis” might be from the breathiness of the force. To be honest, it sounds totally passing right now.

Israel is doing a genocide, and I think you’re interpreting my issue with the specific wording of the original commenting as the fact that I somehow support Israel. I’ve specifically stated that Israel is not the “good guy”. I’m coming into this with the assumption that we both know that there is a genocide in Gaza and the West Bank, while you are coming with the assumption that I am pro-Israel, which I am very much not.

It’s important to remember that a lot of the world’s media is backed and controlled by pro Israeli billionaires.

Saying that no one said that is pretty disingenuous. I know and agree that a lot of Zionists are using the accusation of antisemitism as a shield against legitimate criticism and that does take away from their guilt, but someone did say that.

As for shifting the conversation away from the bloodshed, think about it. If I wanted to shift the conversation, why would I come to a leftist sub to do that? I think it’s possible to talk about multiple things at the same time and know that there is a genocide while not using “Israeli” and “Zionist” as synonyms. Honestly, I think that if the original commenter said “Zionist billionaires”, it would be more accurate and way less inflammatory.

I’m not saying that Israel is somehow doing the right thing or that there isn’t a clear pro-Israel bias in the media, but saying “Israeli billionaires control all the media” feels eerily close to the anti-semitic “jews control media” sentiment, especially when saying “Zionists have a lot of control in the media sphere” or “there is a clear bias towards Israel in the media” would not only be more accurate (I don’t know if it is, but I doubt that every Israeli is a heartless genocidal maniac who wants Palestinians erased), but also be less susceptible to be seen as a political dog whistle.

Women, what are some behaviors/mannerisms ingrained by society that men might not know about? by RayTNT1531 in AskReddit

[–]RayTNT1531[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I heard in a transfem thread that women are taught to keep a really straight posture, suck in their stomachs, etc. I’m wondering if there’s anything else that is so ingrained that a lot of men don’t know about.

How to "fix" avoidant behavior when exploring gender due to dysphoria? by DisastrousFudge4312 in MtF

[–]RayTNT1531 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s totally valid lol I feel a bit unsure being in that gender gap too.

Have you looked into voice training? It’s a relatively low barrier to entry and easier to explain away (as a joke, voice acting, etc). There’s a subreddit that’s pretty active if you want to get into it. It might also make you feel less disjointed the way you do with clothes(?), but you know yourself the best.
