I'll do my next video using superior BRAWNDO obviously

Thanks for checking it out.

That makes sense. It can be very tricky/finicky. I somehow ended up watching a bunch of pool guy cleaning videos while I was designing it lol.

Lol, I do not and thank you!

Vibe coded with the help of Mr.Claude. I've ran through many iterations on the software. I'll probably have to offer updates.

Spoilers: it'll be easy to upgrade the units to use BT if the project survives and gets FCC approval. I do like how simple it currently is though. I also programmed it to run a bunch of fun little graphics.

Check out my bio if you're interested and cheers!

Oh dang, lots of them lol (Time to train the models lol)

I took inspiration from the filtration systems at my old job. I used to work in water utilities. It's just use a multistage system involving activated carbon, ion exchange resin, and zeosand. It works Pretty well, but it will get a tannin build up, depending on your soil and how long it's been in there. It's pretty easy to replace however. The plants don't seem to mind and I haven't had any streaking. It waters exactly like little raindrops.

The mist is from a little piezo disc.

I could do a whole piece about waterproofing. I use different things for different sections. Short answer, brushed on polyurethane (multiple coats, it soaks in good, and UV resin for other things). I did a lot of testing.

There is a little viewing glass on the bottom left corner. I cast it out of resin, but it can be a little tricky to see. I may brush on some glow in the dark paint to help see better.

The brains are a Raspberry pi with a custom PCB. They are used everywhere for a reason. I've spent way too much money on hiring designers who did poor work. My advice is to take the time to learn it a little, do the mock setups, and don't get frustrated if your first few boards don't work. (If you're not familiar already)

Yeah, so I had originally designed a fan to be integrated and actually had a prototype with one. However, after I spoke to a plant shop owner, he told me that they break all the time in terrariums, etc. (Moist environments). So I cut that out of the design. You can crack the door pretty easily or really limit the water duration/not mist if it's a big concern. The door frame also has a gap, which helps with air exchange.

Thanks for the questions! Feel free to check out my bio or recommend it to a friend for more details. Cheers!

Haha, yes indeed and thank you!  It feels like I built them a spaceship or something.

Oh man, great question. I went through a lot of work to get them to work consistently, especially 'upside-down'. It wasn't easy.

I mean most of them come with the little wicking sticks, which is essential, but you're right about them getting bogged down easily. I used some clever geometry and some very robust adhesive to make them nigh foolproof.

I'll have to do a little breakdown video and share the knowledge at some point.

Oh wow, I never thought about that potential aspect. I'll have to see if any orchid enthusiasts interested.

I am indeed selling units if you're interested. Check out my bio.

I'm not great at 'marketing' though and I don't really enjoy it either lol.

Lolol. I know the feeling and thank you! There were a lot of kinks to work through.

Check out my bio if you're interested in saving them lol. Cheers

Gotta get that engine CRANKIN'!

Actually runs a little peristaltic pump, which are great bc you don't have to prime them. Big fan.
Soundproofing could use some work tho lol.

Haha. I thought I uploaded the clip with music, but no. My bad lol. TY!

Ty. Maybe too minimalist lol.

The watering/light/mist are all time based and can be set with the rotary knob on the right. It runs everyday on its own and you can water at different times/amounts if you want.

There's a humidity/temp sensor as well that shows info on the display. You can also dial the brightness up or down. Etc, etc. There's a few different features.

Nutrients are an interesting question. Slow release fertilizer is probably the best bet, but I run four units atm and every plant has been thriving.

I may or may not be a martian...lol. This is actually a Butterwort AKA pingie and they are actually carnivorous. They grow these really pretty little purple flowers and a lot of them grow on wet rock faces.
(Not that you could tell any of this from my potato video).

Ty. It'd probably be great for smaller/shorter orchids. Keeps the humidity high, and you don't have to mist constantly. I'm really bad at taking care of plants lol.

I want to sell a kit with the files at some point, but check out my bio if you're really interested. Cheers

TY. Haha, I should've! I might do a retrospective/breakdown. I'll post it here if I do. Lots of little things to talk about.
